Fraking Word War!!!
Current mood: sassy
Category: Writing and Poetry

Leslie Dicken and Lisa Paitz Spindler invited me to join their Word War, starting this past Monday. May 5. I set my goal of 500 words a day. The ticker shows how many words I plan to write for the rest of May. We're reporting to each other daily and Wednesdays we're to publicly report our progress on our blogs.
This past year has sucked and I'm determined to get some new work submitted this year. Right now I'm working on a story to submit to one of the confessional magazines. The Voices are talking to me again and I plan to have a new fiction story to submit by September, '08.

writing distractions or turning into a MySpace junkie
Current mood: frustrated
Category: MySpace
So, there I was focused on getting pics to use for a slideshow for Music and TV in MySpace. I started while I was fixing supper. I was on my laptop in the living room, after all I was just boiling water to put frozen vegetables in. Everything else was done. I started smelling something strange, then my husband walked from his office to the kitchen. "What have you got cooking? Oh, Sh*t!" I'd lost track of time and the water nearly boiled out of the pans. So, I stood there and read
while the water boiled and then the vegetables cooked. After I cleaned the kitchen, I went back to MySpace. I went to Photobucket and loaded a bunch of pictures. When I clicked the html code and pasted it to MySpace, I saw every pic I'd gotten. Not in the grid or slideshow, but individually. Then I realized I should have gotten the picture through MySpace which would have made me a nice slide show.
I know just enough html to get myself into trouble, but I'm getting the hang of updating MySpace. It's getting addictive. Spent wwwwaaaaayyyy too much time on this tonight when I should be writing. I think I need to limit MySpace updates to Sunday. Otherwise I get tooo crazy on here. Must add this. Add that. I'm easily distracted by:

One at a Time
Current mood: pleased
Category: Life
Last week, for the first time in my life, I saw daffodils in people’s yards. The area I live in is too hot for them so I’ve never seen them other than as potted plants. When I saw them growing wild, daffodils became one of my favorite flowers.
A few days after I fell in love with daffodils, a friend sent me an essay about a hillside of daffodils blooming in a glorious pattern of colors. The plot had been planted over the course of thirty-five years, one bulb at a time. The moral of the essay is any plan can be accomplished if it’s taken one step at a time. Like several of my friends, I’ve been in a writing slump. The fog is starting to lift. I know the pattern of the story tucked in my brain. I’m not going to let the enormity of what I want to accomplish, the pressure of other stories that need to be finished or edited stop this story. Every day, I’m writing one word at a time, one paragraph, one scene of this story that makes me smile whenever I think about it. Some day I’ll have more than just the single thoughts, but an entire book to smile at. But for now, I’m happy to smile at one daffodil at a time.

New Release
Current mood: excited
Category: Writing and Poetry
New year, new blogs, new stories coming out. Personally, I was extremely glad to see the end of 2007... a year in which the Fuck-Up Fairy ruled my life. Now I’m happily growing "In the Garden" of the The Wild Rose Press, amongst the Summer Roses, the Fairy Roses, and those fun, sexy, naughty roses in the Scarlett Rose line.
Naked Bluff is my contribution to the fabulous Destination Pleasure line.
Destination Pleasure takes you to exotic locales to play sexy games with fabulously gorgeous heroes.

Doesn’t this cover absolutely rock? The cover artist nailed Prince Mak. Or maybe she wants to nail him?
In a casino in Monaco, Clarisse Jones knows her "friends with benefits" relationship with Prince Mak is going to end soon. His parents are pressuring him to marry. She knows the Reigning Prince and Princess of the small island Principality of Renoun have no desire for their youngest son to marry an American, especially one who makes her living as a professional poker player. She plans on enjoying the last days she has with Mak, days that might be ending sooner than she realizes when Mak’s parents arrive in Monaco.
The Destination of Pleasure is Monaco, home of glittering casinos, and the Grand Prix. Travel Date is January 23, 2008 via The Wilder Rose.

Writing, Weight Watchers, Evening Walk, and Books
Current mood: cheerful
Category: Life
I've been excavating my desk. The San Antonio Chapter of RWA is starting a "book of the month" challenge to write 50,000 words in a month. They started today, but I'm still excavating my desk and transferring files from an old laptop to a new one. Tomorrow's going to be pretty much a wash, for writing again with chores to finish and a wedding shower to go to.
I rejoined Weight Watchers Online a week ago when I had trouble buttoning my fat jeans. But I went to a graduation party and wedding shower last Sunday and managed to avoid the cake and cookies. Stuck to the sandwiches, fruit, and veggie tray with water to drink. I lost 4 lbs this past week. I'm sure most of it is water weight, but I've already got more energy just by tracking my food and eating more balanced meals. I can the cake tomorrow too. For the first time in months, I had the energy to get out and walk. I walked for thirty minutes this evening. I dipped into the 35 extra points but only by a couple since I had an activity point to swap. I saw the most gorgeous damselfly this evening, busily dipping into the puddles after mosquito lavie. Go dragonflies and damselflies!
I also collected some more rocks to tumble. I love rocks. It's a family tradition. Practically everyone in my mom's family has a collection of rocks. I have my grandmother's and mother's collection. They'll go to my son. My daughter's like her dad and looks at us cross-eyed over our obsession. I've been reading two of the JD Robb Death series a week since the beginning of May. While I don't really like Nora Roberts-I'm sure she cries all the way to the bank about that-I do enjoy the JD Robb series. But after reading so many of them - and halfway through the series - I'm getting a bit bored with them. Instead of starting the next one, I'm reading "Goblin Quest" by Jim C. Hines now and then I think I'll read another Dresdan Files book afterwards by Jim Butcher. I can't wait until the current hard-back book by Janet Evanovich comes out in paperback. I just screamed at the end of the preview chapter of the last book. "Ranger has a WIFE???" Ranger is one of the hottest males to walk across the pages of a book. A bad-boy you can trust. Ummm-mmm.
Life is getting more enjoyable.
