What is love?
Current mood: indescribable

There are so many definitions...is love like publicity in that there is no bad love? I feel like the chick in sex and the city asking stupid questions to myself that are unanswerable.

Btw, Vickie's show was amazing! I sat in for a couple of tunes...just like what is sort of feeling like old times. Interestingly, Grace, my nine year-old niece requested a couple of Vickie's songs at a little after dinner jam we had at my sister's house with Doug Levitt. (Doug is a great singer who has toured on Greyhound Buses like a real folk singer; and now he is working to promote Obama.) Anyway, I got a chance to sing "Are You Happy Now," and "Simple but not Easy," it was a blast :}}

Banned At the Bluebird Video
Current mood: crazy
Category: Music

The Banned at the Bluebird video features Betty Dylan at Farm Aid and lots of other kewl and funny moments from the road.  It was huge to get onstage with Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Lucinda, Dave Mathews, Mellencamp, and of course Mike Webb to sing Amazing Grace!  We will never forget it :}}

Gold Medal at the CASE awards for: "This Is Betty Dylan"
Current mood: peaceful

Just found out that the article, "This is Betty Dylan," that Johns Hopkins Press ran won the Gold Medal at the CASE Awards!

Here's the info from the author's site:

4/11/2007

Among university magazines, the equivalent of the Pulitzer Prizes (equivalent not in scope or prestige but in rank as awards in the field) are the CASE awards, handed out annually by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. Yr. Faithful Scribbler learned this morning that he has won a gold medal for the third year in a row, for "This is Betty Dylan." The author plans to enjoy a dram of fine single malt this evening, after teaching his graduate nonfiction seminar.

Above announcement also affords the opportunity to reproduce this sexy photograph of the band. By the way, Dan and Vickie Dubelman, pictured below, are divorcing, but plan to continue as a band. Worked for Fleetwood Mac.

Anti-war songs on Coverfreak
Current mood: peaceful

Joan Osborne "War" (Edwin Starr)
Edwin Starr sounded incredibly pissed off. Joan Osborne does more of a slow burn.

Betty Dylan "Masters of War" (Bob Dylan)
Yes, it's more Betty Dylan. I really like them. Dr. Dan sent me this and it just fit so well.

Fresh Air "For What It's Worth" (Buffalo Springfield)
I found this record when I was a college DJ. There's very little information on the jacket. About all I can tell you is that they're a bunch of long-haired white guys. But you already knew that.

Devo "Ohio" (Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young)
One of the very first songs I downloaded from iTunes. Weird and abrasive, like every good Devo song.

Warrior King "What's Going On" (Marvin Gaye)
Any song can be a reggae song!

Betty Dylan Valentines Day Sex Party
Current mood: horny

My sister, Liz, always referred Valentine's Day as a Hallmark Holiday, but in spite of our impending divorce we are determined to take Valentine's Day back from the corporation and give it back to the people. Ok, maybe not, but if you are in LA and have 7 bucks, and you are free at exactly 9pm for about 45 minutes we guarantee the Betty Dylan show tonight at Molly Malones will be better than the best orgasm you ever had.

If you are wondering what a VidLit (TM) is check out this one featuring the music of Betty Dylan (from the national anthem to the Henry Rollins sounding stuff)

- 02/14/2007 09:00 PM - VidLit.com (TM) Valentines Day Party @ Molly Malones, 575 South Fairfax Ave...(the three dollar cover was a mistake, sorry, it's gonna cost you seven bucks)

Betty Dylan getting divorced and playing on Valentine's Day
Current mood: artistic

A decade ago just before Valentine's Day, I got down on my knees, offered Vickie a diamond ring, and asked her to marry me. Now, we are getting divorced.

Peter Guralnick recently said he thinks we are one of the great musical teams. We are continuing on as friends, will still play shows as Betty Dylan, and are also finishing up recording the new album we started in Nashvegas which we have decided to call "Rumors." It is by far our best work.

We still believe in love so we are hosting the VidLit (TM).com Valentine's Day Party at Molly Malones featuring a guest appearance by author, Paul Slansky, performing with Betty Dylan on the song, "My Bad" (hear it on http://www.VidLit.com/mybad/ ).

It'll be an interesting and Romantic night :}} We'll be playing some sexy music for the lovers as always.

Best,
Dan (and Vickie)

"Record Deal"
Current mood: chipper

Subject: Re: Fwd: Betty Dylan Sessions in Nashville

Howdy Dan,

Hope you all are doing well.

Spoke with Kevin, he up for working with on the new album, however he mentioned he did not think recording quickly is such a good idea, he wants to have every song worked out before going into the studio. He mentioned his game plan would take time, and that he would discuss it in more detail with you.

Best regards,
Harold
