My Passion
Current mood: awake
Category: Writing and Poetry

Most of my life,
   Ive done nothing but wrong.
I even got to one point,
Where i wish life was gone.

But I can honestly say,
    That place I'm at now.
God planned my life
    to go that way somehow.

He sent me through darkness,
       Imprisonment and sin.
He let me go through a dark life,
So my new one can begin.

He sent me through sorrow
   and pain and despair,
to share all that I have lived,
   to all that I care.

Yes my new life in Christ,
   In which I now live.
Is my passion of sharing,
   What God has to give.

Our Childhood in Black and White.

Go all the way to the bottom past the pictures. I think you'll enjoy it. Whomever wrote this, described childhood to a T.

Black and White
(Under age 40? You won't understand.)

You could hardly see for all the snow,
Spread the rabbit ears as far as they go.
Pull a chair up to the TV set,
'Good Night, David. Good Night, Chet.'

My Mom used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread mayo on the same cutting board with the same knife and no bleach, but we didn't seem to get food poisoning.

My Mom used to defrost hamburger on the counter AND I used to eat it raw sometimes, too. Our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag, not in ice-pack coolers, but I can't remember getting e.coli.

Almost all of us would have rather gone swimming in the lake instead of a pristine pool (talk about boring), no beach closures then.

The term cell phone would have conjured up a phone in a jail cell, and a pager was the school PA system.

We all took gym, not PE .. and risked permanent injury with a pair of high top Ked's (only worn in gym) instead of having cross-training athletic shoes with air cushion soles and built in light reflectors. I can't recall any injuries but they must have happened because they tell us how much safer we are now.

Flunking gym was not an option . even for stupid kids! I guess PE must be much harder th an gym.

Speaking of school, we all said prayers and sang the national anthem, and staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention.

We must have had horribly damaged psyches. What an archaic health system we had then. Remember school nurses? Ours wore a hat and everything.

I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud of myself.

I just can't recall how bored we were without computers, Play Station, Nintendo, X-box or 270 digital TV cable stations.

Oh yeah ... and where was the Benadryl and sterilization kit when I got that bee sting? I could have been killed!

We played 'king of the hill' on piles of gravel left on vacant construction sites, and when we got hurt, Mom pulled out the 48-cent bottle of Mercurochrome (kids liked it better because it didn't sting like iodine did) and then we got our butt spanked.

Now it's a trip to the emergency room, followed by a 10-day dose of a $49 bottle of antibiotics, and then Mom calls the attorney to sue the contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat.

We didn't act up at the neighbor's house either because if we did, we got our butt spanked there and then we got butt spanked again when we got home.

I recall Donny Reynolds from next door coming over and doing his tricks on the front stoop, just before he fell off. Little did his Mom know that she could have owned our house. Instead, she picked him up and swatted him for being such a goof. It was a neighborhood run amuck.

To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told that they were from a dysfunctional family. How could we possibly have known that?

We needed to get into group therapy and anger management classes? We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills that we didn't even notice that the entire country wasn't taking Prozac! How did we ever survive?

LOV E TO ALL OF US WHO SHARED THIS ERA, AND TO ALL WHO DIDN'T; SORRY FOR WHAT YOU MISSED. I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING.

MARVELOUS HUMBLING GRACE

I have been praying about a particular subject. The subject has been about the sin in my life and the daily everlasting grace of Jesus."...But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:20-21 Have you ever fully acknowledged the depths of your sin, only then to allow yourself to experience the unconditional grace of Jesus, so powerfully that it humbles you and brings you to your knees in repentance and in gratitude?

COUNTLESS SINS

After 10 years of walking with the Lord, God has never stopped showing me the depths of my many sins. From smaller sins like stretching the truth, to larger sins like pride, greed, jealousy, lust, worry, fear and doubt; God reminds me of why Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave. "For God has bound all men over to disobedience so that He may have mercy on them all." Romans 11:32 God has placed the "LAW" into our conscious, convicting us through His Holy Spirit, and leading us to surrender before His throne of grace in repentance, so we can then truly appreciate His grace!

THRONE OF GRACE

Because of my faith in God, I can repent of my sins through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus. I can approach His throne of grace with full confidence, knowing that I am in good hands and that He will help me no matter what, even though I do not deserve it! "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:16

NOT BASED ON MY PERFORMANCE

After years of striving to improve and yet stumbling often, I can praise Jesus boldly because there is no condemnation for those who believe in Him. "So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me.... What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!... Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,..." Romans 7:21-8:2 I am thankful that my status with God is not based on my performance, but based on my faith and trust in Jesus!

HIS GRACE WAS 100%

If I have learned anything from the power of sin and the power of His grace, it is that His grace is greater than all of my sins and this is to His glory! "I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" Galatians 2:21 Have you ever thought of how God's sovereign grace undermines our pride? When was the last time you really thanked Jesus for His grace in your life? Can you thank Him now?

GRIEVING THE HOLY SPIRIT

While the grace of Jesus is greater than all of our sins, I am also reminded this does not give me a license to sin. Why? Because when we sin, we grieve the Holy Spirit who dwells in our hearts. "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." Ephesians 4:30 The danger of continually sinning is that we get to a point in which we no longer hear the voice of God. And don't we want to hear God? If God has compassion for us in our times of need, can we also then have compassion for Him as well? God actually gives us the opportunity to bless Him when we stop sinning and when we wait upon Him to help us in our times of need.

SUBSTITUTE CALLED SIN

If we choose to do wrong because we have a particular need or desire within us that we want filled, we are then choosing a substitute for a fix called sin. Why do we choose to sin when God can provide us with a way out? If we ask Him to replace our desire to sin with His Word and His Holy Spirit's power, He is faithful and will always help us. When we wait upon the Lord and trust Him to replace our sinful desires, we can then witness, experience and see God provide for our needs. And as a result we really get to know Him! "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." 1 Corinthians 10:13

RESIST AND WAIT UPON THE LORD

The next time you need to get your way (sin), resist the enemy and ask God to help you as you wait upon Him! There is nothing better than to witness and experience God's hand of grace answering your prayers in your time of need. And if you have just messed up again, simply go to God's throne of grace, and He will meet you there with open arms of mercy and grace. Why? Because as believers, we are His children forever!

BELIEVERS ARE BLESSED

So, when was the last time you truly thanked Jesus for His sacrifice on the cross? "Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered." Psalms 32:1 When did you last savor His grace in your life? Can you openly thank Him right now, in front of others? Will you praise Him right now?

A message to Mothers
Current mood: touched
Category: Writing and Poetry

There is one day a year

  That should always be known

To share your heart with that special woman

Whom watched you while you we're growing.

That woman whom gave birth to you

Despite all the pain she went through

patiently waiting for that special moment

She could finailly hold on to you.

That woman whom throughout all the years

She do her best to show you right from wrong.

And shower you with all her love

To show you that you do belong.

That woman whom God choose to give you life

to live in this temporary world that we stay,

Only to show the world how lucky we are

to have that special mom in our life Today.

Psalm 127:3     (New american standard)

3Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Psalms 127:3  clearly states that children are a gift to the Lord. And I jsut want to take this opportunity to thank all the Moms out there for bringing up thier children the best they can.

I have alot of love and respect for you mothers and I know that God does as well.Because I believe that it is a mothers Love that makes a heart grow.

                                     Happy Mothers Day

Just a Biker
Category: Religion and Philosophy

JUST A BIKER

I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday.
I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But you didn't see me playing Santa at the local mall.
I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant when you saw my bike parked out front. But you didn't see me attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief.
I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by. But you didn't see me riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window.
I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children. But you didn't see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.

I saw you stare at my long hair. But you didn't see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love.
I saw you roll your eyes at our leather jackets and gloves. But you didn't see me and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none.

I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But you didn't see me cry as my children where born or have their name written over and in my heart.
I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But you didn't see me going home to be with my family.
I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn't see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.

I saw you yelling at your kids in the car. But you didn't see me pat my
child's hands knowing she was safe behind me.
I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But you didn't see me squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn.
I saw you race down the road in the rain. But you didn't see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.
I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But you didn't see me trying to turn right.
I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But you didn't see me leave the road.
I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But you didn't see me. I wasn't there.

I saw you go home to your family. But you didn't see me. Because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family. But you didn't see me.

When things in life get tough

And your mind goes astray.

And all seems to fail

Just pray...Just pray.

When your feeling very down

having trouble with your Day.

And all seems to fail,

Just pray...Just pray.

When your preaching in Gods word

But cant find the words to say

And all seems to fail,

Just pray...Just pray.

When you Loving God with all your heart

But satan tries to take it away,

But he seems to fail.

Just pray...Just pray.

Job 33:26
He prays to God and finds favor with him, he sees God's face and shouts for joy; he is restored by God to his righteous state.

We are free to choose
Current mood: inspired
Category: Religion and Philosophy

John is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, ’If I were any better, I would be twins!’

He was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up and asked him, ’I don’t get it!

You can’t be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?’

He replied, ’Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or ... you can choose to be in a bad mood

I choose to be in a good mood.’

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or...I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.

’Yeah, right, it’s not that easy,’ I protested.

’Yes, it is,’ he said. ’Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood.

You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It’s your choice how you live your life.’

I reflected on what he said. Soon hereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that he was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower.

After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back.

I saw him about six months after the accident.

When I asked him how he was, he replied, ’If I were any better, I’d be twins...Wanna see my scars?’

I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

’The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon-to-be born daughter,’ he replied. ’Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or...I could choose to die. I chose to live.’

’Weren’t you scared? Did you lose consciousness?’ I asked

He continued, ’..the paramedics were great.

They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read ’he’s a dead man’. I knew I needed to take action.’

’What did you do?’ I asked.

’Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me,’ said John. ’She asked if I was allergic to anything ’Yes, I replied.’ The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, ’Gravity’.’

Over their laughter, I told them, ’I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.’

He lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude... I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.

Attitude, after all, is everything.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.’ Matthew 6:34.
