REM website, issue 62
Issue 62 cover stars REM have been kind enough to feature the good ol'BT on the home page of their website! We are truly honored. Not only that, but did you know that Michael Stipe personally picked out all of the photos used of the band in the issue? Including the cover shot.
See it all here: http://remhq.com/index.php.
Also check out the news section of the site: http://remhq.com/news_story.php?id=783. They're right, its a BT triple crown! They've graced our cover once every decade in the 80s, 90s, and the 00s now. Thats a lot considering there are only 2 issues every year!

It’s True: I’m a Dad (Welcome Jim); old Springhouse videos on MySpace
Again, before I give you a couple more fresh reviews that didn't make it into our issue 61, that I wasn't able to post in my last blog, on behalf of myself and my wife Mary I would like to welcome my son Jim into the world, and into the world of The Big Takeover (well, he won't lack for music to check out), born 23 days ago. I'm hoping his progress will be quick enough so that he will be able to compose all my reviews and do all my interviews for me in time for the spring issue 62. A couple of you were kind enough to write and congratulate me after seeing little James Burton (his middle name, and no he's not named after ELVIS PRESLEY's guitarist, but it's a coincidence I rather like) make the coveted 1 spot in STEVE HOLTJE's Top 10 on this site last week (see, he's already overachieving), and thanks to Steve-o for that honor as well. I will post two photos of the little blonde bomber if you want to see them, since Steve's friend's theory about the boy's potential looks might have whet your curiosity. (Continued here.)
Visit www.myspace.com/springhouse to see Springhouse in action (with Jack on drums) playing 1991's "Layers" (from Land Falls) and 1993's "All About Me" (from Postcards From the Arctic).

BT For Festivus!
Just a reminder that there's still time for the perfect X-mas gift: Big Takeover magazine! Indeed, if you want a holiday gift subscription for your friends or family whom you think would enjoy our pages (or one of our t-shirts, or any of our back issues, or our CDs), you can still order on our secure online store at
http://bigtakeover.stores.yahoo.net/
Just let us know in the "comments" section of the order form that the order is for X-mas (why not write, in all caps, "RUSH! THIS IS FOR X-MAS!"), and we will be glad to send the package by priority mail to ensure it gets there fast and on time. And include in the "gift message" section anything you want to say, and we'll take it from there. If it is for a subscription that you want to start with 60 or the brand new 61, we will similarly send the first issue(s) by priority mail. (If you want it to start them with 62 in the spring, we will also be glad to send a postcard for now to let them know about your gift, and that it is from you, with any message you might include.)
Remember, subscriptions are just $20 ($32 overseas and Canada), and our other stuff is even less. For our other stuff, remember, our t-shirts now come in three colors (black, white, and dark red) and six sizes (four men's, two women's), all but two of our back issues are still available (if your friends like a specific band we've featured), and we are now offering used, good-quality CD copies of the three out of print SPRINGHOUSE CDs (for a limited time) as well as sealed copies of EVEN WORSE, LAST BURNING EMBERS, DON McGLASHAN, DOUG GILLARD, and the brand new releases, NON-LINEAR THINKERS and EDP!

From Ruts Central, this just in!
We are pleased to announce the first 7 acts confirmed to play at:
The Ruts Charity gig and film premiere at The Shepherds Bush Empire on Friday 25th January.
Firstly, Ruts fan and friend HENRY ROLLINS will be on hand to share his thought on all things Ruts.
And we are pleased to confirm that the fabulous ALABAMA 3 will be playing, they will also be hosting the official aftershow party at JAMM in Brixton.
The Ruts old friend TV SMITH has confirmed that he will be performing for the second time and as we all know he never fails to please.
Performing for the second time too we have CAPTAIN SENSIBLE & STU from THE DAMNED, I am sure they will come up with something amazing.
We also expect a special treat from members of the MEMBERS. They couldn't play last time but have been very supportive and intend to step up to the mark this time.
And all the way from PHOENIX, ARIZONA we have the fantastic GLASS HEROES. These guys are amazing and are happy to travel thousands of miles to show their support for The Ruts and to pay tribute to Paul & Malcolm. This really is an amazing gesture.
And last but certainly not least we can confirm that the young but definitely up and coming KING BLUES will be performing. These guys are a perfect demonstration of how respect and appreciation of the Ruts just goes on and on.
We are now in the process of organising with some very special friends in the US for there to be two simultaneous screenings of the film. One in New York and one in Washington DC. And there may be more....
This is just the beginning.... we have more news and artists to come, so I would urge you to get your tickets now before it's too late.
Tickets cost a mere £10 and are available from: www.TheRuts.BigCartel.com & www.ticketweb.co.uk www.myspace.com/TheRutsOfficialPage info[@]peafish.com
