Hopes dashed :-(
Current mood: crushed
It's crazy what can happen in one short week!!
Last thursday I was lying in bed hungover when i got a phonecall saying Blasterbra had been selected out of over 2,000 bands to be in the final 14 bands of the Road to V competition.
We would be flown to London to play the Islinton Academy on the 15th of May, be in a channel 4 tv show, receive guidance and advice from major industry heads from Atlantic Records, Virgin Records etc and be in with the chance of playing the V festival this year!!!
We had a crazy week rehearsing and planning and getting very excited in general, not able to believe that something this good was happening, pretty surreal!!
Had been keeping watch over the road to V message board where one particular angry little man spent his days and nights picking apart the competition, the finalists, people's grammar and whatever took his fancy.
Annnnnyway, he was happy to point out that we were not in fact eligible for the competition bringing to the attention of the public that we were Irish and not living in the UK.
Then we got the phone call from V, who really wanted us to have an english granny at least.... but in the end we had to be disqualified. She said if they the mean people on the message board hadn't said anything we would have been fine. There had been an Irish band in the competition (the immediate) a few years ago and there had been no problem.
So that's it, back to square one, we're really really really disappointed but, what are ya gonna do??? So it's back into the rehearsal room (with our fantastic new drummer Peadar!) put together a great live show, tour it and slugg it out from the bottom up i suppose.
The only way is up, baby.. for you and meee!! BIGGER AND BETTER THINGS ON THE WAY!!

All in a weeks work....
Current mood: jubilant
Howdy doody, it's been a wierd and wonderful week in blasterbra camp. it all started out with great news, followed by not so good news and then swiftly followed by more good news!!
firstly we have been offered aplace in tg4's battle of the bands "deis roc". we are in the final 16 bands and theres a prize of 10,000 notes at the end of the show! we're gonna be on the telly and all! (cue shopping spree in dublin...)
then we finished our new (and debut) cd which we recorded with ciaran bradshaw in the suite studio dublin. and fergal davis mastered it for us. we had loads of fun recording,
oh ya, the day evan and i went to the big smoke to record our vox/guitars we had a mix up with parking...
we didnt know that the morning after we parked our car up for the night would be dublin marathon and all the roads we parked on and leading to my sisters place with all our gear inside would be closed off for the day! long story short...if anyone saw a young handome male and a snazzy looking female pushing an orange amp balancing on top of a marshall stack up grafton street THAT WAS US...and going back up again weighed down by guitars, bags, pedal boards and what not. it was pretty funny once we stopped crying.
so then we come to our not so good news... sean our beloved drummer has now walked the blasterplank and is no longer in the band. we had great fun together but we are now lookingfor a new drummer.awwwww
but back to better news again, we finished mixing and mastering and put one of our tracks up and coudnt have gotten a better response. everyone seems to love it as much as we do!!! yay!!! we have had a load of offers for gigs, even an offer to be on the podge and rodge show but cant really commit untill we have our new drummer extradonaire!! so over all it has been a nice week in blasterbra land. i love you all idividually and as a group!! Anna xxx ps send good galway drummers our way pretty please!! x
