Kids should wear BACKPACKS not BUCKETS - Bands Without Borders GIVE:BACK Campaign launches
Current mood: accomplished
Category: News and Politics

KIDS SHOULD WEAR BACKPACKS NOT BUCKETS.

Hi everyone,

We are excited to tell you that Bands Without Borders launches the GIVE:BACK campaign tonight @ The Highdive in Seattle! Tomorrow is the big all-ages show at the Vera Project and Saturday is a hip-hop show at Nectar...followed by a roots/rock show at the Triple Door Oct 12. See our website for the exciting lineups for each show.

Even if you aren't in Seattle, you can still help out by collecting backpacks and donations for children in Honduras where Water 1st is building more sustainable water projects (Water1st.org).

You can also support the work of Bands Without Borders by donating directly via our website or mailing a check.

We also need more volunteers around the world. Whether you can program a website, design a flyer, or do myspace promotions... you can start by simply spreading the word about the need to other people you know (musicians or otherwise).

sincerely,

The Volunteer Powered Bands Without Borders Team

[Nathan, Liz, Megan, Lauren, Kris, Vic, Rusty, Janine... ]

COLD in the Abbey, Andy Davis/Lonely Forest acoustic
Category: Music

We've got a great little show here tomorrow night at about 8-10:30pm and the Ground Level of the Abbey just happens to be NATURALLY AIR CONDITIONED and is probably 10 or 20 degrees cooler than outside.

Starting off the night will be Andy Davis, a great singer/songwriter from Nashville who's on tour in the area. He played at the Triple Door last time I saw him in town and puts on a great show.

Also travelling to see us from a slightly less distance is The Lonely Forest, from Anacortes. Since I manage this band, i'll just let Megan Seling from the Stranger speak for them, but know that this is a rare acoustic show with all 3 guys! www.thelonelyforest.com

"After seeing the Lonely Forest for the first time sans guitar player (he left late last year to attend school), I was so impressed that I had to immediately gush about them on Line Out--they have consciously made their new material just as dynamic as before, even without the oh so important six-string, and as a longtime fan, that made me very happy. Drummer Braydn Krueger is a machine--one of the best young drummers in the city (and by "young," I mean under 21). Singer/keyboardist John Van Deusen's voice can cleanly croon, but he also gets emotional and cathartic, adding a nice dichotomy to the beauty of his piano. Get stoked for their upcoming album, Nuclear Winter--it's a self-described "space rock odyssey into an alternate dimension," and based on the songs posted on their MySpace page (www.myspace.com/thelonelyforest), it'll no doubt carve them a nice, long-standing niche in the local scene as not just an "underage" band, but a talented one too."
