Its been 5 days since the London Mela and my Body is still feeling the stress'es plus the Buzz of being onstage for 8 hours - plus the joy of being able to book and give a space for loads of my favourite bands.
My Highlights in no particular order:-
1. Outlandish making their entrance to thousands of screaming fans who obviously worshipped their hero's.
2. Everyone seeing Mennis & Nazza T's great performance early in the day - I saw them do something shorter at The Paradise Gardens festival and knew then they'ed be perfect for the London Mela. Its the fact that out of all the current MC's they do their shizzle LIVE!
3. DJ JP's dropping of classic line from the Bollywood film Sholay throughout his set
4. 3-Mix - Ex Future Friction artists who stepped up to the stage and delievred the 'suprisingly good' performance of the day.
5. Hearing 'Up Your Speed' being rinsed LIVE through our massive soundsystem by SWAY.
6. Trying to pin Hard Kaur down after her appearance as she had 40 mins to get to the aiport and fly to India.
7. The Crowd - you lot (if you were there) you lot repped amazingly and compared to previous years almost no trouble.
My Lowlight!
1. Where the stage was! Maybe the Mela was afraid of the Radio 1/ 1Xtra stage tearing the Mela up with the best cutting edge music in the UK right now!
So, how as it for you? And if you could programme a fantasy Mela who would you book?
