Farewell Crystal, My Faithful Friend
Current mood: sad
Category: Writing and Poetry
Today, I lost a faithful friend, Who was unquestioning with her love. One who was ever alert to protect me, She would shadow my every move. And on our daily walks together She was proud to be at my side. She was unhappy when I had to leave her, (Though I would appease her with a treat) Yet she was always there to greet me Whenever I came home once more. She loved to romp and chase the squirrels That would venture into the yard. But her favorite game was to fetch a ball And there were times she would tire me out.
Then illness struck a few months ago That slowly drained her vitality. Eventually she could not chase the squirrels Though she continued to scare them by barking, But her favorite game she could no longer play. Our daily walks grew shorter and shorter, Until one day last week, when I got her leash, She looked up at me with sad brown eyes And she sighed as if in apology. Then simply lay down in self-defeat.
It was then I knew her time was near. To allow her to suffer would be a sin And I had to make the decision.
We sat together on the blanket provided And she licked the tears from my face. When the doctor came in she didn't look at him But instead she lay down with her head in my lap. The shot worked its magic to put her to sleep, And she quietly died enclosed in my arms.
Farewell Crystal, my faithful friend. I will miss you terribly, for a long while.

Slaying the Dragons
Rise above your past, Give it up, let it go; It's time to slay those dragons.
There is nothing wrong with you. You are an artist, a musician, a writer. Stand proud with these God-given gifts. Embrace those people He has put on your path As family who love and care without conditions.
Stop trying to squeeze into society's square boxes. You will only burst through their barriers; For they cannot constrain your truth. Drop the facade of the man you pretend to be, And be the man we both know you are.
Reinforce your armor with these words. With a battle cry, unsheathe your sword; It's time to slay those dragons.

Always...
Current mood: contemplative
Category: Writing and Poetry
For a time, you'll be on your own But there is nothing for you to fear, You are never completely alone; You need only call my name For I am always here.
In the dark of night, When your demons try to roam, And you need to see a light; You need only call my name For I am always there.
When the road before you stretches far. To make your dreams seem out of reach; It does not matter where you are, You need only call my name For I am always everywhere.

Nothing to Lose
Current mood: morose
Category: Writing and Poetry
Nothing in life is permanent. Experiences are but momentary, A constant circle of birth and death, Like the changes in life of the seasons.
No relationship is lasting. People come and then they go, Leaving only an emotional residue, Like faded rainbows through a mist.
Love like a possession is immaterial. It is better to have never known it, Than to have it taken away. For if I have nothing, there is nothing to lose, And I will never be faced with a loss to endure.

Lost Soul
Category: Writing and Poetry
Lost soul, invisibly bright, falls into the sky. The ground that slips around his head, runs cold to burn as liquid glass. Struggling, drowning in dark white clouds, he loosely grasps to clutch thin air.
Words fall silent on open lines. He opens his mind to close his thoughts. He is distraught with shattered reason. His compass spins to find control; But does not reveal, A single direction.
He faces the future of his past, and finds more questions in the answers. He seeks outside for his inner truth; believing honest lies from familiar strangers.
As he fights to fill his soul's gaping hole by denying need and shunning desire; he digs himself deeper into a desolate pit, that escalates to adhere to his external life.
Yet those who knew him and know him still, push to drag him from his sheltered void. And with their words that go unspoken they drain the poison of his silent vigil.
Then finally, without expectation, all that is present clearly vanishes; and finding everything in the expanse of nothing he slowly emerges to become himself.

What does my name mean
Current mood: amused
Category: Blogging
I usually don't go in for this type of thing, but this was really kind of scary accurate.
What 'Yvonne' Means
You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in. You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising. You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.
You are very hyper. You never slow down, even when it's killing you. You're the type of person who can be a workaholic during the day... and still have the energy to party all night. Your energy is definitely a magnet for those around you. People are addicted to your vibe.
You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life. You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you. At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.
You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people. You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts. You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.
You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone. You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together. At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

Anger (New/Old Poem)
Category: Writing and Poetry
I am angry tonight... I want to scream into the night; about everything, about nothing. I want to fight.
But there is no one to withstand my force, to feel the hot tears, of my anger, my fear. There is only silence that sings a chorus only I can hear.

Having Faith
Category: Writing and Poetry
Having Faith IS NOT to simply believe
Having Faith IS to know absolutely.
Without a hope, or a wish, or a want
To know everything you need,
Will come when you need it, and
Will be there within the right time.
Having Faith IS NOT greedy or boastful
Having Faith IS generous and kind.
Without seeking praise, or glory, or honor
To recognize the needs of others, and
To give freely of whatever is needed
Whether possessions, or labor, or time.
Having Faith IS NOT erratic or anxious
Having Faith IS patient and steadfast.
Without a rush, or a swerve, or a detour
To stay sturdy on treacherous ground
When the world crashes in from the outside
To know that guidance always comes from within.
Having Faith IS NOT pompous preaching
Having Faith IS an honest example
Without judgment, or insult, or ridicule
To accept other's beliefs without prejudice
And not compromise yourself in the process
Standing firm in what is right and not wrong
Having Faith IS NOT organized religion...
Having Faith IS a bond to the Soul.

On the Grey Days
Current mood: discontent
Category: Writing and Poetry
On the grey Days
I miss
The Sun's light
The blue Sky
With wispy Clouds,
I want
To heat
And dry
The outside Air.
On the grey Days
The bare Trees
And sleeping Gardens
Make me sad,
Impatient,
And sometimes
I am quick to anger.
I think too much.
On the grey Days
I try
To hibernate
To retreat,
I close
The blinds
Against
The Sky
I avoid
Nature's course.
On the grey Days
I warm the house,
And cook,
And clean,
I turn
The music up
Just a notch
Always playing
In the background.
On the grey Days
I find it hard
To talk
To express
My thoughts
Except through
Written words
And even then,
I think...
On the grey Days,
I do not understand
Myself.

A Single Morning
Current mood: thoughtful
Category: Writing and Poetry
With Earth's soft rotation
The song of Dawn
Splits the silence of night.
As light fractures dark
From a gradient crescent
Of the Sun's rise on the horizon.
Rainbow hues spread
To vanquish the Sky's black void
And fades the Moon and the maps of Stars.
The sights and sounds of a single morning
Verges to visions and songs so vivid,
That the very Soul swells to overflow in unison.
And in this mystic momentum
Every atom ascends
To join in projecting the power of Creation.
