Hey!  How is everyone!  Just a note - the "2nd Annual Halloween Event" will be on October 19th at 2pm at Mysterious Galaxy Books and yours truly will be back again (in costume) to host the event.  Check this out - 9 authors will be there during our fun filled afternoon, plus some entertainment (with prizes) and refreshments.  Come one, come all (in costume, should you choose) and enjoy the day with us.......  More to come.......  Diane

Hi ya'all!  Yesterday was my 60th birthday - kinda hard to imagine.  I still feel about 35 - but I guess that'll change, huh!  Got together with some great friends and had a great dinner.  And my husband was there - my most favorite person in all the world!  All in all - a good time had by all.

Great Time at San Diego Comic-Con

Hello All!  Just a moment to tell you about San Diego Comic-Con.  My first time and a great time it was!  Met Dean Koontz - what a nice man.  Worked the Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore booth.  Wow - lots of kewl people everywhere.  Returned to regular bookstore work today.  I met an author today that stopped by to sign stock and pick up some books for her own reading entertainment.  Check her out - C.E. Murphy  She mentioned that she had to cut back her reading enjoyment big time in order to write.  Got me thinking, alright....  I can't keep my hands off a good book and it feels like shock therapy but I really have to schedule writing EVERY day and then only allow myself certain hours of reading pleasure (SOB!) Keep me in your prayers - it's gonna be hard.  But if I don't do this I will never finish my book.......  Any inside tips from any of you authors out there, don't hesitate to send them my way!!  See ya soon.... I had my first meeting!

Hey! A couple of weeks ago I had my first "reader" meeting.  That is to say those friends who are actually reading and commenting on my book-in-progress! We had dinner and sat around and talked story.  It was great - got some good constructive criticism and ideas for the future. I try to write something every day. Sometimes it's hard with work and other items - but I find I'm my own worst enemy. Working on it though!  To be alive and healthy and loved - can't ask for more than that!!

Wow! It’s been a while!

I can't believe I haven't written anything here.  Well, how is everyone???  I'm still working at the bookstore and still love doing it.  I'm also working on my book - slower than I'd like - but I'm looking at it every day.  In about a week, some friends of mine are coming by for dinner and then we will be looking at my manuscript - constructive criticism, ideas, sorting things out, etc.  I'm really looking forward to it.

Halloween is Coming!!

Hey!! Whatdya know - Halloween is my favorite holiday!  It's great fun to dress up and give a scare or two.  And I LOVE candy corn...  Hmmmmmm Thought I would let everyone know who reads this that at the place I work: Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore  there will be a "First Annual Halloween Spooky Reads Celebration" on Friday October 26.  - Scariest Pumpkin Contest, Scariest Costume Context, Sarah Langan (author of the "scary" book, THE MISSING), Spooky Readings by staff and customers.  It will be a blast so come on by - oh and we'll have light refreshments also!  Hope to see you there.....  heheheheheh  - activities start around 6pm....

Good Morning to Everyone! Today is a very good day. I am actually writing and that's a good thing.  And, of course, in the middle of other things I am reading.  The book is entitled The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.  What a book! The author was a genius with words and characters. His descriptions take you on rides of imagination through the minds of some ever so interesting people. In the midst of that is the mystery of a book written by an author whose other books have been systematically burned.  Why? I'm sure I'll find out very soon.

Visit Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore  (the best little book store in the entire universe!). to find many other fiction books whose pages will keep you interested!

Harry Potter!!

Well, gang, this is the official start of Harry Potter madness. At Mysterious Galaxy book store in sunny San Diego, join us at 10pm this evening for our first (of two) Harry Potter Parties.  Books go on sale at 12:01am. We reopen at 8am for the continuation of same. Enjoy yourself! Nothing better than a good book to read.  As the sticker on my car reads: I can't LIVE without books. Have fun!

Hit the Road Running

Hello All!  Just back from 4 days in Vegas.  Had a WONDERFUL time! Now it's time to "hit the road running".  I promised myself that I would finish the novel I started #%$^%^@$ years ago! It's in 3 parts and I have the first part finished. But I need to do some rewriting and adding and will be ready to follow the outline into the 2nd part. Writing horror is a lot of fun - but lotsa work also. I'm ready to do it! 

Anyone who writes out there, please share whatever you can about writing and the ways to get it done and keep going. I need some UMPA! from those who know.

 Wow! Being retired is incredible! And it's true, I am busier (and happier) now than when I worked that 40 hour week for those 30+ years. Just wanted to say HI! I am in a very good mood.  A couple of friends are taking us out tonight to celebrate my retirement. And I'm HUNGRY! And tomorrow, I will be at MYSTERIOUS GALAXY, The Best Little Bookstore in the Entire Universe!  This job is FUN!
