Christmas With Dionysia
Well, the guys had another great show last night, just like on Thansgiving. What an awesome rendition of "The Little Drummer Boy"!
Hubby gave them some Christmas gifts, which they seemed to really like. They were leather shot glasses with their celtic-style logo on them. Seems they like them enough to commission many more for their CD release party in March. My, how our little business seems to be taking off. LOL.
The kids got into town late last night, so our family Christmas will be later today. Hope they like what Santa left 'em under the tree. If they don't.....tough nookies! :-P

Misc. Musings
1) Why is it MY server on World of Warcraft is the only one that's down?!? Fer cripes sake! Pick on somebody else, would ya? I got shit to put up for auction!
2) What is with the idiot shoppers during Thanksgiving weekend? "Gotta have, gotta have it....it's 3am? Time to line up! Checkout time is over an hour? Guess I'll talk on my phone too loud and annoy people! Whaddya mean no rainchecks?!? Hope my little shit kids appreciate all the work I've done for them, getting all the little shit things they HAVE to have." Goddess save me from consumers with too much credit and not enough sense.
3) You know, when I was a kid, we here in St. Louis got to experience a lot of snow. Now it's either rain or ice or freeze-your-balls/boobs off cold, sometimes all 3 at once. DAMN YOU, GLOBAL WARMING!
4) When your daughter calls and says that she & her fellow employees are trying to come up with euphemisms for "taking a shit" (her exact words, the delicate flower), and asks you for the one you heard on tv....well, it's time to let them go as adults. (By the way, it was "growing a tail".)

Turkey Day with Dionysia
Current mood: tired
5th annual Thanksgiving Day set with Dionysia. Fantastic, as per usual. The bar, though, was smoky as hell tonight. For a non-smoker like me, it actually is hell. My clothes smell, my hair smells, it seeps into the seat in my car...*sigh*
As much as I love the original music, it was great to hear the guys cut loose and play stuff like Ram Jam & Soggy Bottom Boys. Man, they know how to rock.
Sleepy now. Frustrating holiday shopping in the morning. Merry Fuckin' Christmas.

MySpace Phenom
Current mood: contemplative
What is it about this site that has so fundamentally changed how we interact with one another? As you may or may not know, I'm a TV Junkie. I can't believe how many times--in the last week, mind--the TV shows I watch have referred to MySpace. I understand that we are now a digital, high-def, online society. I understand that TV & movies are reflective of the current societal trends.
I guess what I don't understand is why we feel the need to nitpick and finesse every part of our lives with complete strangers around the world. And yet, here I am, doing the very thing I don't understand. I'm a simple person, with simple pleasures. If I had my druthers, I'd be traveling somewhere, seeing a part of the country or world that I haven't before. For some unfathomable reason, our lives have become enmeshed in these little words, on this little box. I mean, really...does anyone care what I say or think? I doubt it.
Fuck it. I'm gonna go play World of Warcraft.

Casino Royale
So we went to see the new James Bond flick, Casino Royale. First and foremost, I loved this movie! I've pretty much loved all of 'em, except the Roger Moore run (he just didn't do it for me). Daniel Craig brings a new sensibility to Bond. He's both aloof and engaging at the same time. There was that big bruhaha when he was announced as the new Bond, simply because he's blond. What a bunch of mindless bologna. Why does it matter what color his hair is?!?
This movie has one of the best opening chase sequences EVER. Go ahead, I dare you...try not to be impressed with it. Some critics claim that the story sort of meanders, but I followed it easily. Does this mean I'm smarter than movie critics? Probably.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE! Can't wait for the next one...

Long Weekend Ahead
Well, the kids managed to make it in just fine. Pulled up right around 5am, then pretty much straight to bed. It's weird having a full house again. Hasn't been this way since June. The oldest, our daughter, will be hanging out here for the next 4 days. The second oldest, the boy1, will be gone most of the time with his friends. The youngest, the boy2, will be underfoot as he constantly is. Glad my relatives are in town. Uncle C is always good for a laugh.
Hope everyone's weekend goes smoothly. Thank goodness I have Turkey Day off this year. Black Friday is gonna suck, though.

Thanksgiving
Current mood: tired
Well, next week is Thanksgiving. Ours, though, will be this Saturday. We've discovered in the last couple of years that it's easier for both our kids, and out of town relatives, to come in early. Lots of extended families to work around. So, Thanksgiving will be Saturday.
I'll do all of the cooking. Ok, not ALL of the cooking. My brother will insist on smoking a couple of turkey breasts, in the vain hope of beating me in the taste department. He didn't last year, and he won't this year. He's a schlub, but I love him. My other brother--the one from Chicago--will play judge & instigator. They actually had the gall to sneak up to my house last year and attempt to take pictures of my cooking. Morons. Didn't matter, though. I kicked turkey ass last year and will do so again this year.
*sigh* Have to go wash the sheets, et al, for the kids' arrival tomorrow morning. They'll be leaving Louisiana around 9pm, and so will get in exceptionally early. They'd leave earlier, but the girl has to watch Grey's Anatomy. Told her we could record it for her, but she said "it's kind of a group activity". I've never watched anything that's been a group activity. College kids are weird.

I Can't Freakin' Believe It
MySpace got me. I resisted as long as a I could. MySpace is like that chocolate cake sitting on the counter. Sure, you made it for someone else, but it's just there...taunting you. I mean, you have to make sure it tastes good, right?
So I took a tiny bite of the MySpace cake, thanks to Nathan Fillion. I fought the good fight and lost horribly. I hope he's proud of himself. :-P
