Troublemakers early reviews & news Feb 08
Current mood: accomplished
thank you mr. and mrs. DJ in every college with a radio station for the support on the Troublemakers LP so far. Thank you mr. and mrs. Blogger as well for helping us spread the word and the promo jams your support has been amazing. We've been going at this about as independent as it gets, "hollywood shuffle style" for my trueschoolers out there. Bout to start callin' in favors and actually call some people back. The most encouraging thing about this all so far is that most of this support is from the youth. I say this because we're grown men tryin' to make grown man music. I myself am at a place in my life where I find it harder and harder to find age-appropriate hip hop. So we set out to make an album for the "I don't listen to hip hop anymore" crowd. A legitimate genre of music should not be limited to an age range. Both Dutch and I have nothing to 'keep up with' except to continue to make music because that makes us what we are. I'd like to invite you all to check out more tracks at myspace.com/tmakers
with respect, Breez

here are some of the reviews so far-
THE TROUBLE MAKERS INTEND TO RESSURECT HIP HOP "What makes a record stand out? Usually it's the beats or rhymes that the producer and emcee respectively created, but sometimes a producer and emcee combine together and deliver an album, the type of record rappers are rarely known for. Perhaps it's because rappers don't do entire albums with one beat maker or maybe it's just because rap today has become a land of club singles and ring tones.
Whatever it is, Breez Evahflowin and Dirt E. Dutch have combined to form Troublemakers and if their self-titled first effort is any indication, they intend to cause even more problems for an industry that is already in trouble.
Knowing little about producer Dirt E. Dutch, his style is reminiscent of an era of classic producers utilizing drums that knock and samples that any good crate digger would be remiss not to add to his list of records to look for.
The rhyming half of Troublemakers, Breez Evahflowin, has been a staple of the NY underground for years as both a solo emcee and member of the unbeatable – and missing in action – collective Stronghold. Probably better known for guest verses and a 12-inch or two, here we get to finally see Breez stretch out and try some different styles and really show us why he hasn't given up on a career in this crazy industry: dude has skills.
Attacking the industry and those who challenge hip-hop's relevancy on "No Room for Growth," we see Breez team up with L.I.F.E. Long. The two emcees' chemistry is perfect and rather than it feeling like a competition of who can spit harder, it feels more natural and they try to build off each other.
Throughout the record, Dutch splices in audio clips from, I'm assuming, a combination of films, TV shows and records. These audio clips add to the content of Breez's rhymes and make it feel like a cohesive set of tracks rather than 12 random songs.
This album will satisfy that desire for some banging hip-hop while we wait for the industry to get back in gear and deliver some heat but, unfortunately, it may get forgotten by the end of 2008, and that would be a shame. Do what you have to to find this project, if for no other reason than to hear one emcee and one producer rock together in the vein of that traditional hip-hop sound."
by Will Johnsen SEATTLE POST INTELLIGENCER - SPISEATTLE.COM
Breez Evahflowin and Dirt E. Dutch "Troublemakers" "This duo bring more of a boom bap hip-hop style that really sounds good coming through the speakers. Lots of pop culture sound samples mixed in between tracks. Bangin'!" -CJAM MUSIC REVIEW
"I haven't heard from this guy in a while, but I'm glad he's back! The ever talented Breez Evahflowin' has teamed up with producer Dirt E. Dutch to deliver (at least to my knowledge) the first new music from Breez in years! The CD, which isn't available in most stores, is another classic example of a sleeper. Virtually no promotion or marketing behind this, but the final product is dope. Check it out."

bio info
Breez Evahflowin hails from New York City, has spent many years creating his potent contribution to hip-hops legacy. A student of lyricism, Breez learned the value of cadence and wit at an early age from reciting the words of Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap. After Breez finished high school, where he honed his developing lyrical talent, he went on to pursue his musical dreams. Citizens of the hip-hop world caught their first taste of the Evahflowin effect by way of his independent release Forsaken. The buzz from this single took indie Hip-hop by storm, with Carlito Rodriguez, Former editor-in-chief of the Source magazine, hailing him as an artist who is nice with his (lyrics). Following his successful debut, Breez released a bevy of other independent smashes, such as the much praised I Heard It. The single received heavy rotation at the nations most popular stations, including Power 95 in Washington D.C., Q102 in Philadelphia and, of course, New Yorks own, Hot-97. He eventually secured a position as a co-host alongside of the Furious Five of the Hot-97 Mic Check Show in 1995. Breez then landed a role as the on-camera co-host of 88hiphop.com. He also had the opportunity to produce his own original hip-hop program for Urban Box Office. Going beyond the label of rapper, Breez uses every opportunity to represent hip-hop in all its forms. Im not lookin for a rap job, I want a hip-hop career! says Breez of his work ethic. From appearances on BETs Rap City to his multiple wins in the Blaze Battle and being the first MC to ever win an MC Battle on NBC (Carson Daly show), Breez has created an unprecedented buzz in this competitive industry. Breez juggles his bubblin solo career with the demands of being a part of the eight-man squad of verbal assassins/Hip-hop entrepreneurs, STRONGHOLD. From performing the title music to X-Box games to providing talent for everyone from Viacom to Miller Brewing co., Breez and his STRONGHOLD partners provide. Currently, Breez has several projects in the works. The Troublemakers LP a collaboration with producer Dirt E. Dutch (indiefeed.com) due out in December both online and CD versions. Breez Deez Treez with producers Davey Tree and Noah D. The Yes You project with producer Burt Fox and Breez is also back in the lab with producer Eric Krasno (Soulive, Fyre Dept) working on a follow up to the Mic and the Music EP. Breez has also been busy over the last few years producing John Henry Radio. a free podcast sent via i-tunes chronicling his 10+ years of Hip-Hop Music.
