Wisdom Wednesdays 52: The Root of the Tree
Category: Blogging

Greetings and welcome to week 52 of Wisdom Wednesdays

Imagine a tree. In order for the leaves and branches of the tree to be full, beautiful, vibrant and healthy, the root of the tree must first be healthy and strong, grounded in a rich soil.

In our lives, spiritual understanding, knowing who we really are, is the root of the tree.  If that root is nurtured and given its proper attention, the branches and leaves, which represent all the other  aspects of our lives, will naturally be healthy as well.

Strangely and unfortunately, our modern education system never bothers to ask these most important deeper questions at the root of the tree. In our mainstream education system we are pruning and grooming the leaves without bothering to look at the root.  We may learn about calculus or geography or chemistry etc, but no attention is given to who we are, why we are, what is our purpose, what is the cause of suffering etc., and thus so many have informational knowledge but are not aware of their own essence.

Our society spends a great amount of time trying to make the leaves and branches look pretty without bothering to realize that the root is dead.

If we give the root it's proper focus and attention, then and only then will there be vibrant life force naturally and effortlessly swelling up into all the branches and leaves, giving vibrant life to all the other aspects of our lives.

Though there may still be some minimal attention needed to grooming and pruning the branches and leaves, the leaves will not sparkle without the  healthy root of understanding our true spiritual essence, beyond words, concepts, beliefs or ideologies. When the root is healthy and strong, the health of the branches and leaves will follow.

Did You Love My Book?
Category: Blogging

Did you love my book?

Many of you have given me feedback on how my book has awakened you to living life with a deeper sense of richness and fullness.

I am already aware of the incredible power of this book, others however are not.
Why not share this love with others?

One of the best ways to do that is write a review on
Amazon. com .  It only takes a couple of minutes to write a review a couple sentences long, or even a couple words long, and you have done something that will have a lasting impact on others who may otherwise have been exposed to the message of this book. Something worth feeling good about.

Thank you for seeing my light
I see yours as well

Keep shining your light!

Wisdom Wednesdays 51: Befriending Fear
Category: Blogging

Greetings and welcome to week 51 of Wisdom Wednesdays.

She was a spiritual seeker, a wonderful person. She had many questions to which she was continually surprised by my answers.

She wanted to know if I ever feel afraid. She wanted to reach a place where she did not feel fear anymore. I told her I feel fear all the time. I live with fear every day of my life.

Fear is a natural part of life. Anybody who says they never feel fear is either lying, insane or dead.  Trying to avoid the feelings of fear is itself the most paralyzing fear of all.

To outstrip, or breakthrough, our old destructive behaviors and negative thought patterns is usually quite scary. To try things we've never tried before is usually quite scary.

The ego is comfortable with the known and familiar and uncomfortable with the unknown and familiar. In life it is necessary to continually step into the unknown and unfamiliar and this can cause the feelings of fear to arise. This feeling of fear is the energy that arises when you are stretching yourself into becoming more than you previously thought you were. Instead of allowing this energy to stifle you, you can become aware of it and allow it to excite you and propel  you forward it.

Fear is part of life and it is part of you. Instead of trying to avoid the feeling of fear, be friendly with your fear!  Use it!   Dance with your fear. Play with your fear. Make love to your fear.   Fear and excitement are the exact same energy channeled in a different way. It is then we see fear is not really that scary at all but actually quite exciting.

Wisdom Wednesdays 50: The Front or the Back?
Category: Blogging

Greetings and welcome to week 50 of Wisdom Wednesdays.

There is the perception that one who has begun to transcend their ego prefers to shy away from the spotlight and personal attention and remain behind the scenes.  Others believe that only those in the spotlight are the ones whose contributions are of importance.

Neither one is entirely true.  The truth is one who has begun to transcend their ego is at ease in either capacity, in the spotlight or out of it, in the front of the crowd or in the back.  They embrace whichever role is of the highest benefit to others in any given moment.

Seamlessly and effortlessly, they can move between being a vocal leader or an avid student, an entertainer or an audience member, the center of attention or a fly on the wall depending on what the circumstances require, without attachment to either.

They are open and receptive, listening for love's command, surrendered to the spirit. They flow like water.  They breathe with the inhalation and exhalation of the universe, in harmony with the heartbeat of the Now.

They begin to transcend the stifling illusion of the ego and the separate self.  They come to realize they are something much larger. They come to realize the true essence of who they are is something timeless and beyond description.

They come to realize their spiritual essence is something indestructible and infinite. Unlike the illusionary ego, it is not affected by the praise or criticism or others.  With this realization, others praise or criticism is accepted and reflected upon, but is no longer the primary motivation for whether or not to be in the spotlight.  Their actions are motivated by something much larger and deeply rooted.

When ego begins to be transcended their actions and imaginings now come, not from fear of criticism and the longing to be praised, but from the evolutionary impulse of the universe, the impulse to raise the consciousness of the human species.

One who has begun to transcend their ego is not attached to being in the front of the crowd or the back. They are not attached to fame or anonymity. They realize their true essence is beyond both.  What they do now may be exactly the same as before, or it may be different. They may speak to millions on television, or they may live in a cave.

They may have a more active and public phase of their life at one point and a more quiet and inward phase at another.  What they do now, they do not for the vanity of their own egos.  Realizing their connection to the source and all of Life, they embrace whatever role serves the highest benefit of all, in any given moment, without attachment, whether they are leading the crowd from the front or quietly supporting it from the back.

Wisdom Wednesdays: What is Wisdom Wednesdays?
Category: Blogging

As I have many new people visiting my blog since the inception of Wisdom Wednesdays, as well as long-time readers who are not aware of the full vision and intention, I think it is a good week to take a moment articulate and reflect as to exactly what we are doing here.

When I first started this project, fifty weeks ago, for some reason the idea came to me that I would do one hundred Wisdom Wednesdays. If that holds true, then that means we are at the halfway point, with fifty more weeks still to go.

Wisdom Wednesdays, and the topical matter addressed each week, is actually the foundation for the second book that is to come after "The Big Glow". The title of which is still to be determined.

The Big Glow's intention is to short circuit the logical, rational mind, to awaken, and open the heart, the authentic self, with passionate, simmering fire and smooth, mystical treasures in a non-linear way.

The intention of the second book here is to encompass and directly engage the logical and rational mind with a more linear format, while ending up in the heart with a deeper realization of our own true essence seen through the prism of each aspect of our lives.

We are forging a new culture, a new consciousness, a new dimension of reality, testing the limits of what was previously deemed possible.

The intention of Wisdom Wednesdays and this second book, is to forge a comprehensive, holistic, integral, modern day, spiritual teaching, or "unteaching" as I sometimes refer to it, encompassing every aspect of modern day life, including those that are basic as well, those that are more subtle, and those that often neglected from being discussed with candor and sincerity.

The intention is to share my discoveries, and insights along the spiritual path in regards to these various aspects of life.  If certain insights are helpful to the reader in a particular week, please take them, if they are not please leave them be.  As unique individuals, different writings resonate with us in different ways, at different times in our lives, depending upon various factors.

We each have access to the intelligence of the entire universe inside us!  Therefore there are no deep truths I can tell you that you don't already know deep within.  My role here is simply to bring them to your attention, to shine the light of awareness on what's truly important, what truly enhances the quality of one's life based upon my own life's journey.

Thanks to those who have left such amazing blog comments in response to the Wisdom Wednesdays series thus far : insights, poems, stories,  photos, videos etc… You are a big part of making Wisdom Wednesday what it is.  It's wonderful to see the burgeoning community of bright lights we are forming here.

Special Thankyous to all of my various friends who have helped proofread at different times thus far and offered their feedback and suggestions.  Special thanks in particular to Margarita Bromley for her proofreading skills and spiritual support.

It's fascinating to reflect back on all the different places: cities, states and countries I wrote these at, at different times of the day and night, and the widely different circumstances I found myself in, both personally and externally, trying to crank these out by Wednesday.
