Assignment: Moon
Current mood: peaceful
Category: Art and Photography

Hey everyone, all 7 of you, here's a blog about endings.

After about 2 and a half years, Assignment: Moon is finally finished. It's a project that I've paced around, dedicated hundreds and hundreds of hours to, put on the top shelf, moved to the bottom shelf, bought a new shelf for, and finally it's over. I can now say that beyond creating a web page for personal promotion, I will never have to deal with another frame of this short film.

It feels good. It feels like I've been baking a cake (yeah, I'm using the making food/ making art metaphor *yawn*), and everyone has been in the kitchen with me. They've all gotten to taste it over and over again, but they've never gotten a full slice, the full flavor. And neither have I. Can I say that it includes everything I wanted? No, it doesn't. Can I say that I'm happy with the work? Yes. I have trouble moving on, with most anything, and the time has come to stop.

While creating the Behind the Scenes, I sifted through files that date back to July of 2002, created on my roommates G5 in Maya 5.0. I don't exactly know how to feel about it. It feels as if it could have been yesterday. It feels warm. It feels important and meaningless, temporary and timeless. It feel sappy. It also feels very real.

By the way, all the while I've had one image as my inspiration. It's essentially stayed with me throughout this entire process and it entirely captures my imagination.

anyway, I love it. So, on to bigger and better things, I hope. Ready to learn more.

thanks everyone,

B

"get learned in larned"
Current mood: accomplished
Category: www.eatpes.com Romance and Relationships

well hello there,

and welcome to my third blog ever in the history of history. (sorry about those other two). Today i'm gonna write a blog because something actually happened, isn't that exciting?

My partner in crime, Brandon, and I finally finished up our 6 month project for the Unified School District of 495. Since October we've been travelling down to Larned, KS and filming kids from all of the different schools, of which there are 7. taking vids, taking pics, and generally trying to avoid the wrath of the teachers as we wander around their classrooms and disturb some VERY important goings-on such as "granola time" and "speliing while we stretch hour". (you can see here that the hostility was fully warranted)

anywho, they came to us and asked us to create an interactive of some sorts promoting the school system. we chose the medium of DVD-Video and embarked. there were a few losses along the way, (you know who you are ((I'm a big parenthesis guy, in case you hadn't noticed))) but in the end we came out with about a 40-minute summary of the town and schools. I actually got to use maya, the program i've been trying to learn for over 2 years now, for a project other than simply playing ( www.musicnmotiondj.com/SV.mov to see my "playing". -Quicktime 7 required).

so, on monday the 27th we loaded up a stack of finished dvds and headed down to larned with the intent to show a few people what we had done (duncan and i had the number 7 rolling around in our heads for some reason). we ended up with a crowd of perhaps 250 filling up about a third of the Community Center's auditorium. needless to say, duncan and I were a little shocked. After all, it was a monday and it was a "coffee hour" which usually consisted of a dozen "old folks" who were there for the doughnuts.

anyway, we presented the dvd on a large projector and the community welcomed us with open arms. the mayor shook our hands, the newspaper did a lengthy interview, and besides duncan being accosted by a few women who thought that our dvd showed too many of the children playing on jungle gyms, and that "someone could slip in the snow and get hurt on the metal and plastic" (these were the ladies with the kids in hazmat suits), everything went very well. we returned home and proceeded to do: nothing for a very long while.

that's about all i got for this installment. be sure to tune in next millennia when i write: Pontiki Blog 4: da soich for more money.

Dont take it so seriously.
Current mood: drained

I just wanted to say that I love the fact that I am sitting in front of $5000+ worth of equipment and yet I can't stop playing with my Wooly Willy. Puts a lot of life in perspective. Too bad more people can't just be happy with their Wooly Willies. (which was Kurisowa's message..... well.... I added the Wooly Willy part.... to update it...... but the general idea is still there).

p.s. For those of you who don't know: a Wooly Willy is a little stip of cardboard and plastic, inside is a bald face and some metal shavings, it comes with a magnet that lets you put little metal "hairs" on his face.
