I love this woman...
Current mood: impressed
Category: News and Politics

I was actually going to post a relationship blog today. BUT. I'm still a little moved with Gov. Palin's speech last night. Can anyone tell me when her and McCain are going to switch places? That seems like a pretty good idea to me.This is merely an open forum, what do y'all think?

Disgusting
Current mood: amused
Category: News and Politics

I've put up with, I'm quite sure, more conspiracy dorkdum this past week than a mortal man should be able to handle. Yes, this also regards Gov. Palin.

In the democratic primary, cries of sexism were rampant against Hillary Clinton. I dismissed this claims, and assumed that the negative coverage of her was simply because she was a bitch. Which she is. However, I never thought...or it never crossed my mind....that it was merely because she lacked nuts. I was wrong, and I guess that's what happens when you give the general American public too much credit. I firmly believe in the absolute equality for everyone, and that belief possibly blinds me of those who don't exactly care for it. I mean...really care for it. Then Gov. Palin was nominated. And so far as I've heard, the only proper issue that's been brought up in regards to her is her stance ..ion. I understand how this may throw a lot of women off, and that's fine, it's a legitimate issue. However, that's not what's talked about:

*She faked her pregnancy with her Downe's Syndrome baby in order to cover up that the child was actually her daughter's.
*How on earth can she be VP with 5 kids? She's being irresponsible, who's going to take care of them?
*Her 17 year old daughter is 5 mon. pregnant. How can she profess to have family values?

What??? Are you serious? I'm dismissing the first idea, because it's officially the dumbest fucking thing I've heard in my entire life. The 3rd thing, I went over in my blog yesterday and it has been promptly dismissed by...pretty much everyone except for the media.

My problem is with the 2nd thing. The very question implies that women lack the capability to both work and raise children. Since when is this the case? Should my understanding me that men who have children can work, but women can't? This is sexism at it's finest hour, ironically coming out of the mouths of many working mothers. SO, I don't get it. You can work, but she can't?

This brings the very legitimate question- Are people just pissed off because the woman being nominated for Vice President is conservative and not liberal? Because if I recall, it was mentioned a million times how historic it was to have a woman running throughout the democratic primaries. So I really don't get it. If you want to attack her, fine. Go after her ..ion, or the situation with the ex-brother in law. You know...like, issues. Making the sexist argument that she's incapable of working while raising children makes you look like a fucking moron. And you are. Lest you forget, I seem to remember another person on the opposite side of the Presidential ticket whose mother worked her tail off while she raised her kids. And look at where that man is today.

Family Decisions.
Current mood: amused
Category: Life

Before I get started, I want to completely comment Barak Obama's response to Bristol Palin's pregnancy. He showed a tremendous amount of class and force in his reply, stating that, "People's families, especially children", are completely and totally off limits. I don't agree with him much...or at all, normally, but I cannot support him more on that subject, and I will belittle and attack anyone who would say anything negative about Obama's children, as well.

Parenting. It's fun. And challenging. Maintaining an independent spirit while accepting the responsibility of having the biggest impact on another human being's life imaginable is a pretty daunting task. There's work. There's play. There's training another person to become the best possible person they can be. How's that last one for responsibility? Let me tell you...it kicks the shit out of being the Vice Presidential nominee.

Morals. Faith, or lack thereof. Responsibility. Ambition. Love. Respect. Ethics. Discipline.

Yep, that's your job to instill them. Along the way, you are required another job to pay for pesky things like clothing, food, shelter, Disney movies.

Finally, and arguably most importantly, you have one final piece of your job description--Protection.

All of us make mistakes. No matter the quality of our raising, and mine was excellent, we're makin' some errors along the way. Christians and Jews call it sin. Muslim extremists call it suicide bombing. Atheists call it fucking up. Normally, a verbal chastising is all that's needed for correction. Sometimes a spanking is necessary. In extreme cases, it requires a belt or two. Still, other mistakes are only solvable, and require nothing more, than love and support.

None of the disciplinary measures you, as a parent, have at your disposal are more or less important, but all must be implemented accordingly to the relative situation with prior thought as to the best method to attain the ultimate goal--having your child be a successful, and good, member of society.

If my son were to touch something he's not supposed to, he'll get yelled at. If he tests it, he'll get spanked. If he's caught stealing something, the belt's coming off. If he gets a girl pregnant at 17...he will have my love and support.

All of those reactions share a common goal--the protection of those you love to give them the best possible chance for their survival and success.

I know first hand the fear of telling your parents what Gov. Palin's daughter had to. I know first hand what a parent's reaction is. They were more afraid than I was. Governor Palin has risen from the Gov. of Alaska to having the potential to possibly be the most powerful woman in the history of mankind. She will be in the national spotlight constantly. Folks, and rightfully so, will be prying into her every move her entire life in their best efforts to promote or destroy her politically.

Either way you play it- Palin's first responsibility before her country, is to her family and their protection. Any decision she makes, it must be taken into account their interests. No. Exceptions. For someone in a contant national spotlight, that task has to be incredible. It surely beats the hell out of my small task of pulling back my son's arm to keep him from crossing a parking lot.

To criticize the personal and family decision to shield Bristol's pregnancy from the mass of public scrutiny, and to make the asseveration that it was a decision of deception or even a lie is insane.

Any parent knows, without a doubt, that no one is above a mistake. Despite your best efforts, your best teaching, your best moral standards...your kids will fuck up. Save for Jesus himself, this is true for every person in the history of man. To make the assertion that a child's mistake is in any way indicative of the judgment, morals, political views, or otherwise borders on the insane...and at the very least--Stupidity.

It's well known my disdain for Obama. I, however, have never in my life criticized his success as a parent, nor his absolute dedication to his two daughters. I believe, 100%, that he's a fantastic father to them, and is providing them with every parent's dream--to have the opportunities that we, as parents, didn't have.

I can't imagine those that  would question the Palin family's decision to keep it from the public to have ever had a child. Further, I would question them ever having been children themselves or that it is entirely erased from their memory. So for those people, you are not parents--even though you may have children--and you've not a clue what you're talking about.

I included this video, because it is without a doubt my favorite press conference after a football game....EVER. No matter what I think of his coaching, as I'm an OU fan, he's had my complete and total respect for standing up to Jenni Carlson, whom I never really liked in the first place.

Chili. Fajitas. Tacos. More chili. Shiner Bock. Smoked turkey legs. Ribs. Brisket. Shiner Bock. Kicking Texas' ass.

All of these things make up my favorite part of the year. Football season. There's nothing better.

As a side note to those friends of mine in Texas- Well, first, the Horn's suck. And second, would one of y'all please eliminate Jessica Simpson. I swear on everything on this planet holy, if she comes near Tony Romo at any point during the season, I'll have an aneurism.

I think we have more productive things to worry about...
Current mood: awake
Category: News and Politics

Race gets tossed around a lot in this little election cycle. Why? Because one of the candidates happens to be black. I'm not talking about when Jesse ran...everyone knew he'd fail because quite frankly, he's a douchebag. Obama has a chance. Like, an actual chance. And he's the first black American to have one (a shot to win the White House).

It was a granted that he is different from Jackson- everyone knew he wasn't going anywhere. Obama can. It was another granted that the first time a black man (or woman, as Hillary pointed out) ran for President...it'd be a grand thing.

It is.

While I'm of the opinion that your gender or race means essentially nothing in the scheme of things, I realize that others don't see it that way. However, twice in the past month (I'm ignoring the out-of-motherfucking-control-blog that I had) I've been questioned as to my disdain for Obama be based on his race. I guess that's all right, it was kind of in a way expected. I am who I am- a white guy from the South, who's very conservative.

The first who mentioned it, I consider a dear friend. Love the girl to death. Always have. The second, whom I'm not acquainted with, sent me a message that stated, 'i SIMPLY do not UNDERSTAND why no one wants to vote for Obama, particularly non-blacks who say it isn't about race.'

This strikes me as borderline insanity. I've spent hours researching the man's voting record, his past associations, etc. Hours. I've heard every debate he's been in. But I'm white.

None of that counts. It doesn't matter that I attack Obama consistently...and ruthlessly...after spending hours researching a man who has the potential to be our 44th President. I'm a white guy attacking a black guy. And I am. And I do it as often as I can. It doesn't matter how much I'd love for former Sen. JC Watts of Oklahoma to run...or Colin Powell (though I dislike some of his views as well). None of that matters, because they're not running. Obama is, he's black, I'm white.

He's also a Marxist, and believes in the direct opposite of everything that I do. Lower taxes, smaller government, the ability for the working class American to work his way to being financially secure without government interference...and not be punitively punished for it by taxation.

The phrase, 'I don't care if he's brown, black, purple, red, or yellow', gets thrown around a lot. That'd be a beauty if it were true. In this case. But it isn't. Not even close. Blacks will vote for Obama simply because he's black, without thinking of the ramifications of doing so....and whites will vote for McCain, um, because he's not black. To me....this makes about as much sense as Jessica Simpson visiting Tony Romo, ever, ever, ever. That's right-none.

I'll go ahead and say it, to both races:       If you're voting-or not voting- for Barack Obama because he's black, you're officially one of the biggest idiots in the country; further proof that the racial divides have a long way to go. I can willingly admit my own joy that a black man has, in fact, crossed all lines to be the front runner for President. Unprecedented. Amazing.

His theme is hope, yet he eliminates (or wishes to) freedom, economically and socially. Without freedom...there is no hope.

Best comment I’ve seen in a while-

...in a humorously stupid way. Apparently, by eating meat, I'm destroying the environment. No, it's not the gigantic vegetable farms using chemical fertilizers that poison the nation's water supply. It's me, and my preference to digest red, red meat on a continuous basis.

"You are aware that it takes 12 times the amount of land to produce a serving of flesh as it does to produce a serving of vegetables, right? So the average flesh eater is producing 12 times the amount of pollution as the average vegetarian."

Stunning. But I think I'll stick to eating Mr. Moo Cow, his cousin Mr. Pig, and nephew Mr. Chicken.

All y’all in Dallas, and everywhere else
Current mood: amused
Category: Life

This was not written by me, it was written by my friend, El Supremo, and I'm reposting it for him. If y'all have the time, please write into the e-mails provided at the bottom. Independent voices should never be silenced, and you, as part of a free market economy, have the power to raise your voice and take a stand. This'd be your opportunity to do so---------

From El Supremo-

Allow me to tell you a short story.

A not too long time ago in a galaxy... um... right here... there was a radio DJ who played music no one else would play. This jock played guys far outside the Nashville mainstream of country music. Pat Green, Cory Morrow, Bleu Edmondson, Jack Ingram, Randy Rogers, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland... the list is long and familiar to those who are fans of what we call OKOM - Our Kind Of Music.

From the synth-pop, starched-jeans, line dancing graveyard of what country music had become rose these scions of a new brand of music. While Nashville threw down Garth Brooks, Texas musicians found Willie... Waylon... Johnny... Merle... Billy Joe... Ray Wylie... Radney... Robert Earl. They found something worthwhile. Something Outlaw. Something outside the lines. And what they found was good and it began a sea change in OKOM.

Radio shunned the new sound. This "Texas Music" thing, this "Red Dirt" bullshit was a fad, something to ignore, something to gloss over when Toby Keith had a new single.

But it never went away.

Ever.

Justin played it all on The Front Porch Show. By thousands, by tens of thousands and then in numbers best noted scientifically, The Front Porch show drew listeners... and fans... and disciples. And OKOM grew by leaps and bounds. Justin gave a voice to artists both huge and unknown without prejudice, without condition. Everyone had an open invitation to The Front Porch Show's studio. It was something rare and special.

OKOM fans in Dallas, how many artists did you discover on The Front Porch Show? How many of you remember the greatness of Doug Moreland and Jason Boland together live on The Front Porch? Who first heard Jack Ingram's "Electric" on The Front Porch? How many pounds of brisket have YOU smoked with Justin as accompaniment?

Me personally? Two hundred pounds, easy. First time I ever phoned in a request was standing by the smoker and talking about the massive rubs I had just found while scouting. It was good friends and hunting stories when Justin answered in 2002. We've been friends ever since.

There comes a time in every music scene when mainstream collides with indie or outlaw or whatever. Maybe you have seen it happen with your music. I am seing it now with mine.

This isn't about country music, folks. This isn't about any style of music at all. This is about independent voices playing independent music of ANY style, of ALL styles. You may hate country music and that's fine. But what happens when the Program Directors come after hip hop, electronica, drum and bass, classical, jazz, pop, indie, rap, world, Celt, reggae, crunk or whatever YOU enjoy in YOUR town?

Now is when we draw a line in the sand. Now is when we say enough. Now is when we tell the commercialized PD's that they will not, cannot ride roughshod over freethinking, independent musical taste. NOW.

With that in mind, no matter where you are, make whatever use you choose of this:

dan.bennett@cumulus.com - VP & Market Manager, Cumulus Dallas
jon.griffin@cumulus.com - Production Director

I do not make a habit of asking you for things. But I am begging you now. Unleash hell.

Feel like doing me the biggest favor ever? Repost this or give me a bulletin. Thank ya!

If you’d like to break into an Oklahoma home....(with replies, sorry, I was busy)
Current mood: content
Category: Life

I will be soon meeting with Todd Lamb, my State Senator, with regards to the expansion of Oklahoma's "Make My Day" law.  Supremo, if I have my way, we will kick the shit out of Texas' law. Burglars, you bet your fucking ass I'm coming after you.

Since the 'Make My Day' law went into effect, violent burglaries have been reduced by half....while all other crimes have remained constant.

This is further proof that if a thieving cocksucker  decides to break into a house protected by individuals with the result being death...it's pretty much the best deterrent in the history of ever. I live in the South. And if you threaten my family or my property...I will kill you. Hopefully soon, this will include my neighbor's property, and anyone I see in need of dire help beyond that. I have no mercy for those that would attempt to take another's life without provacation.

You’re not satisfying my needs!
Current mood: chipper
Category: Romance and Relationships

Where to start with this one?

Men in women are different. No matter what dumb-shit feminist told you last week about us being 'equal'...we're not. In a simplistic...very simplistic...view, men need to provide and protect. Women need to be protected and provided for.

Before y'all start your hissy fits, I'm not talking about monetary provisions. It's very well recognized that y'all can do it by yourself. But, you still have needs furthering and far beyond paying bills. We, as men, provide them.

There are biological differences in the thinking of men and women. Hardwired, time-tested, cool shit. In times of old, our provision meant keepin' your ass covered in furs (or as I prefer, Eve's leaves)(yes, I chuckled at the rhyme), meat on the fire. We protected you by kicking the shit out of saber-toothed cats...and other guys searchin' for a piece of ass. In turn, we got you, and your provisions for us. You gathered berries for the food we brought, tanned the furs of the animals we killed, and raised the kids that we further had to go out and kill MORE meat for. Nonetheless, it was pretty much a 50-50 split in the responsibilities section. We kill the saber tooth, you take care of the cryin bastard in the hut.

In the world of new, nothing's changed. That's right, nothing. Has man's 'money for the bills, food on the table' theory changed? Sure, to some degree. Women's theories on keepin' house and poppin' out babies has kind of changed a little bit, too. But the instincts still remain. There are still things women can't do that men can, and vice versa. When's the last time you heard of a woman calling her girlfriend in the middle of the night because she had a nightmare and was scared shitless? You haven't? That's because it didn't happen. She called a man...even if it was merely a friend, because women still need the comforting words of a man's protectiveness.

I am rambling now, and for that I do not apologize. And for that I leave you with this: If everything's changed, and men and women have biologically become equal magically...then why is it that a woman will never settle for a man with no job who lays 'round the house while she works for the bills...whereas a man has no problem working while his wife is at home raisin' the kiddos?

Why I Blog...
Current mood: amused
Category: Blogging

Let me make one thing clear: I don't blog for readers, frankly, I don't care if I have a 'reader base' or not. I write for myself. I love those of you that read and comment, but in the end, I'm not in it to make y'all happy. I started blogging with noone reading me. It was basically an outlet to express my love for writing. My love for history. My love for politics, and the opinion that every man should be free. Many other opinions, but all grounded in the context that I love this country, I love the foundations of this country, and I'm steadfast in their application. I have a girlfriend that is sexier and smarter than most could dream of, and barring a non-Obama Presidency, it might just work out that her 401(k) might mean something.

*By the way...this was supposed to be funny----fail. That's what I get for posting after happy hour     is responsible for the content of this blog...and Captain Cocktail is the only one that caught that.
