Psycho Charger’s New Music Video for "I Eat the Dead"
Current mood: hungry
Psycho Charger has teamed up with the Mad Creator himself, artist/illustrator/director Gris Grimly to bring you the music video for " I Eat the Dead" a song written and recorded by Psycho Charger for the DVD/CD combo package for the film "Cannibal Flesh Riot!"
The video has the band laying it down "demonic terrorist" style alongside clips from the film!
For the past year, I've been working with Gentle Giant (the 3-dimensional company behind the licenses Star Wars, Hellboy, Lord of the Rings, Clash of the Titans, Corpse Bride and more) on a Cannibal Flesh Riot! license. Just this weekend, final approvals were made on the image and paint job. I thought you would be interested in seeing it. An amazing detail to this sculpture is that the ground opens up to reveal the bloody-meat-and-bones monster called GUT TONGUE.
Although there is nothing set in stone at this time, there is a good chance that this Stash and Hub sculpt will join Gentle Giants horror line which includes 30 Days of Night, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and others. We will be working on the packaging next as well as getting the unit priced by the manufacturers.
Look for the display at any conventions Gentle Giant is exhibiting and let them know what you think.
Here is a great and informative write up on Cannibal Flesh Riot! executed by unboundzine.com. Check it out. This interview has some of the most interesting and thought provoking questions yet. Well done Mike!
Hey German speaking fiends of the world: The latest issue of VIRUS (20) did a profile of Cannibal Flesh Riot! Make sure you go out and pick yourself up a copy. VIRUS is Germany's leading horror magazine.
I have not had the opportunity to read the article myself (nor would I be able to), but Peter Sandorff of German Psychobilly band Mad Sin informed me by email "Then I recieved by mail, the latest issue of big German horror zine "VIRUS". Double page cool interview with you, top rated reviews of the movie, the soundtrack and btw the new Mad Sin album."
Can't wait to get my copy. Wish I could read German.

So, I finally watched the film Silent Hill last night. Heh, heh, heh...yeeeaaahhh...anyway...
On the same subject of Film, we've submitted our film Cannibal Flesh Riot! to a dozen or so film festivals. Some festivals selected CFR to be a part of their selection, and others...well...declined our submission. But that's okay with me. Honestly, I didn't submit the film to festivals for the prestige or honors, but to have the opportunity to screen the film in different cities and countries. Like I said, I don't have any hard feelings being rejected from any of the festivals. But one rejection that strikes me as odd was the Sydney Australia Underground Film Festival. When I received the email announcing CFR's rejection into their programing, I was given the option to request a critique from the judging committee. I said, "What the hell". The only way I'm going to improve is through constructive criticism. Just last week I received their response, and this is what the selection committee had to say:
• Excellent black and white cinematography and composition • High production value all around including great lighting and set design • The two lead ghouls are perfect for a modern day B-grade horror film! • Love the dialogue e.g. about the 'happy little food people' commercial • Great effects and stop-motion – blended in well with overall film • Wasn't drawing on clichés – highly original work that still kept in line with the genres it is influenced by • Overall, an excellent achievement, demonstrating great potential for the "Cannibal Flesh Riot" team and we look forward to seeing more work from them in the future.
So, can someone please explain to me WHY our film did not make the grade?
So this is all new to me...PODCASTS. I didn't really understand what this was all about when I was asked for a review copy of Cannibal Flesh Riot!, but I said "What the hell!"
This shit is pretty cool! It's like a radio show all about horror. But I'm sure all of you who have evolved with technical advances know all about it. Not me. I still listen to albums on the phonograph and cool my ale in an icebox.
The show is hosted by Des, who obviously completely understood what I was doing with CFR and thoroughly praises it. He plays a couple songs from the CD compilation that comes with the DVD as well as songs from the original score.
We have received more reviews for Cannibal Flesh Riot!. Some of these are older, I was just waiting to receive a good block of them before I made this post. Again, I am showing you both good and bad reviews (referring to their opinions...not the quality of the written review of course). If you are interested, please take the time to read these thoughts.
Finally, the DVD for Cannibal Flesh Riot! as well as the original score are available for sale at madcreator.com.
First is the limited Edition DVD/CD. This two-disc limited edition collector's set is exceptional.
The first disc is a DVD with the 34-minute film, two commentary tracks by Gris Grimly and the band Hola Ghost, a Blooper reel, a 30-minute featurette, outtakes, music video for Cannibal Flesh Riot! by Hola Ghost, trailers and more.
The second disc is a CD of music inspired by the film. This eclectic array of musical talent will include Hola Ghost, The Untamed, Ghoultown, The Death Riders, Spooky Deville, The Black Rose Phantoms, Psycho Charger, The White Coffin Terror, The Order of the Fly, Creature Feature, George Van Orsdel, Nightbreed, Stolen Babies, The Spectremen, Mister Monster, More Than Never and Blitzkid. These are all new songs written about or inspired by the film and they all kick ass! Check out these bands in the CFR myspace top friends list.
The collection will also include a mini newspaper with A cover story on grave defiling written by Steve Niles, contributing band information, dvd and cd content, CFR merch ads and Clarence Heckles's obituary column.
All of this is wrapped up in a jacket that comes in a burlap printed slipcase.
Second is the score. It is amazing! Some scores come out and you think to yourself "Yeah, this is cool. But it's like the movie without dialogue and picture". That is not the case here. The score holds up as it's own entity and transports you into a lush sound narrative. I have not responded this strongly to hearing a score since Carpenter's Halloween or Goblin's Suspiria. Good solid craftsmanship. It also comes with a 12-page comic adaptation of the film written and illustrated by me.
The latest issue of Rue Morgue (RM 70) did a profile of Cannibal Flesh Riot! Make sure you go out and pick yourself up a copy. If you are unfamiliar with Rue Morgue, it is a great magazine covering horror in our culture.
If you would like to purchase the DVD or CD score to the 34 minute film, it is now available at the MCP store at www.madcreator.com.
