a simple man

once          while resting in my old lady's elbow chair

in the good ole bye & bye of days

the sun peeked out & about

while the sky still carried her bruise in hues

engaging stillness exchange blows gracious

                        amid the attention & caution

                  fashioning importance & respect

in the midst of fumbling correctness

      i stumbled across a song

    words from a humble man

 whispering his laughing lore

healing me sound from harm

i could only raise               my face

toward the sun's thousand hands

                          as they applauded

                               this simple man

Poets Round Table No. 78 ~ Freedom
Category: Writing and Poetry

Poets Round Table No. 78 ~ Freedom

i

Words quicken in flame and lace
center of lightning's course,
freedom's smooth surfaces
return in folds to the Source.

ii

Return in rippled ecstasies
ravished love-soaked bites
skin-tight pliabilities'
strapless hallowed rites.

iii

Anthems ring with strong resound
a salute to freedom's heartbeat;
knowing what was lost and found
scores of miles festering scarlet feats.

iv

When right is clearly wrong, one looks left
Closed eyes tremble in inevitability's wake
Expectation's lamented second guess at best
Leaves questions dead for placation's sake.

v

Though fear's mad whirlpools
Fog, smear skies from afar
And rabid foam is worn by fools;
I'll chart my course by inner star.

diminished pace

i.

coniferous child beguiled

wandering as though it's i

exiting shrouds before it's too late

durid dusk mutters insane blame game

flinching ashen regiment's plane

sporadic joie de vivre  paced

diminishing alto fate

faux pas doesn't belong here

never will;

no - never will

ii.

frequently, words are what they seam

on occasion, visage  meek & humble

pondering through an isle of fate

ever so often, a wily fish swims upstream

nevertheless, a sensible fish glides down the sound

to retaliate an oaf's puss filled pulses

consorting whistles shrill corralling defamed veil of veils

does such wave duty or disaster?

          here –

hear a fall!

yes, a scurried fall

among my companion's canyon

adding a notable note upon wisdom's crown

     such a jester

     makes me

     a prominent clown

iii.

            branches prays meekly

hummingbirds flickers in tune

truth sings it's own song

sagebrush moons
Category: Writing and Poetry

"time as he grows old teaches many lessons."

~ aeschylus (525-456 bc), greek soldier & playwright ~

so say the mother of mothers

as much as my tears bled throughout

squalor still refuses enough of a score disturbed

hunger pains of unanswered saulies prayed

  stopped buoyantly hashing clenched teeth

                                     crucifying

                       film scars refreshed

                while appending doom congregates

but never ever kept among sagebrush moons

brine tears & sage shall clean out any ghost

so say the mother of mothers

bloodshot roadmaps led nowhere as i followed my gaze

to know, no reflections concentrates this late in time

yet the hours of darkness still sifted an alpenglow dawn

the cynosure of my once upon a time sacrosanct eyes

weathered scores
Category: Writing and Poetry

yesterday of when

gingerly, as it was,   weathered scores wave-

d

declarations scamming                 pages inked

words where what they were  then  smudges

        of promises

associates to faded inks  dimming  with age-

d

for-get-me-nots tied among adorations not

explored         lying among hyena's          den

                                encapsulating serenades

sleek threads unraveling           notes fade-

d

masquerading blank pages of what was now

dead words of promises never kept    spoke

                               (the echoes still choking)

waltz of the lilies

considering   the lilies

wisdom curtsied shyly

inundated veils swirled blissfully

                       hauntingly hopeful

superimposed what was when                    now

scabbard      right sighted for good measures

lazarus & i scaled into the same address book

i heard my name reassured; no denials

wi nas overture

as i saw it:

        whip-o-wills

       lying low,

dreams dissipates

 defining scrunched notes

           scribbling(s)....

contained by bobwhites'

refrain            reframed        reframing

(excluding)     the mocking

ah-h-h! the timestamp           mocking

                  mocking (as if)

mimics                                     mocking

even more so   than   yesteryear's

mockingbird

           operatic                      cantor

conceded ambiguously;                                knowingly

        enmeshing woodpeckers' arsenal

rat/a/tat/tap/tap/tapping/ping/ping/tapping/rat/a/tat/tapping....

furious

enraged,

furiously

deranged

surmounting codes, befitting restless crescendos

for in this life, as in others, such was needed,

connecting oracles    granted no guarantee for serenading encores

codas were yet to be written        for man refused to listen

sinuously                                 the air sits in still array

understanding

       the seagulls

        could – should - would

              cry

           seamlessly

equating announcers' jazzing sirius radio

in notes,          wrapper of nascar racing grace

               muffled

humming cargos

sighing

fairytale blues

while shuffling the cards of life

suites of ands, ifs, buts and what-nots

cramps my fingers     as moments in time

   nibbles the overshadowing yarn

gazing over my shoulder i investigate

blankness exhales       infertile air

tears could wash away yesterdays

simply,   the draught is a constant standstill

solitaire a waits with smiles of remorse

"the animal i've become"     dead      lyrics song

till the cravings appeared                thigh deep

scarred within;          tearful pleadings denied

daddy's teeth dug the trail of hell's gate

my instructions              you said did not crucify

we long for days filled with gardenias' perfume

filling & pruning, what was at best,

                                                a fairytale unsung
