I have about 5 minutes before I jump into shower and get ready for another day of work ( Yay).................. but I have to state that someone needs to check out Sarahs Palins church and its association with Joels Army ( a religious right wing nut group that is a paramilitary bent on making all us peoples bend our will to Christ at the time of Armegeddon.

However Sarah Palins church has its own Reverend Wright. His name is Brickner.......... He recently gave a moving religious sermon in which he said that terrorist attacks on Israel are justified because those Jewish people are not for JESUS......... WTF?  Excuse me?  After hearing this shrill angry woman I have to wonder what she believes in. 

I am no great fan of Israel , believe me but how can a minister say that crap and be a Christian?   I dont condemn Sarah Palin for listening to this dribble as I dont condemn Obama for having a whack job minister.

But I am so sick with these so called religious people hanging out with reverends that are so hate filled I feel like punching them.  From Reverend right with GD America to the Brickner the Jews deserve to die to even Rev Hagee ( Johns Mccain mentor though you never see him now ) who stated that New Orleans deserved is hurricane for being a bed of sin.

I realize now why I stopped going to church I believe in God and have a faith. But I liked going to church when I heard words of love and inspiration and hope. I thought that is what Christianity was all about.  Yes rules and moral codes to follow but a religion of peace and acceptance.

All I hear now is a church of hate , anger, prejudice, using God and Jesus as a weapon.  That all those other people like Buddhists ( more peaceful than most of the rest of the world , and muslims are going to hell. If thats faith COUNT ME OUT.

And politicians you need to think who you listen to and use as your mentors.

Brickner is scum, Wright is a kook and Hagee is a hate monger....... if these people represent God, then I thik we are All in trouble

Sarah Palin NO THANKS

I just listened so Sarah Palin,  good speaker but to me its just the same old mudslinging hatred of the Republicans.  This hate monging is why I changed party affliation from Republican to Democrat.

To me she came across as a bitch.  Alot of women will be mad at me but its my opinion. Comparing being mayor of 6000 and saying that was so much more important than working for people like Obama did. Crap the mayor of ELk Grove governs  35,000 people and owns a full time business.  I have gone to the meetings it is stuff like a new fire engine. Whens the rotary parade. Give me a break Palin.  

And touting the Alaskan surplus , I have news for you , Alaska has had a surplus for at least 10 years. Every citizen including Palin gets a check for $3300 from Alaska.   That is because Alaska has a huge windfall profit tax on the oil companies that drill there. I could be governor of Alaska frankly ...   Easy to be loved when you cut $3300 x 660,000 checks. She didnt create the surplus as long as their is oil there will be a surplus in Alaska. Liked she sold the Alaska private jet on Ebay..... that was clever.

You know what made me say no thanks. Nothing she said. Though between Giulani and Palin I heard so much hatred I left the last 5 minutes. What made me sad is her little infant son.  Cute little trig ( why not name him GEO or Alege_ Her handicapped son was passed from person to person to person in the family. Asleep the whole time ( the child belongs in bed for heavens sake) and the little girl licking her hand then her brothers hair was priceless. But it hit me the arms that should have been holding that baby was HER MOTHER and dad. Not Cyndey Mccain and the little girl , This woman said she will be a proponent of handicapped kids... Well lets start with your own child woman.

Also my sister has a handicapped son , a child with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.  in the past 8 years the powers to be helped my sister and this kid zippity do dah.     He was turned down for disabilty 3 times !!!............ he has not had all the things he should have had to reach his maximum potential.    It is because of a wonderful kind doctor Dr Ruggie out of Lutheran General Hospital who donated his service, The Shriners who have covered his surgeries and medical care and a pretty decent school district that has a good special education program that hes done as well as he has. Our government didnt help  only the local one.......... So dont have Republicans telling me they are humane now........ My sister and her family have no health care. Their teeth are rotting in their mouths. They both work but cant afford the premium.

So Sarah Palin to me all I saw was a nasty mouth and the hypocrisy of your wonderful family.. They look wonderful. Go home and be their mother

Oops she did it again

Ok ,  I just heard the news that Sarahs Palins 17 year old daughter is knocked up.  Well the more I read about this woman the more I am not schocked by this.

We all make mistakes, we are all human.  And Obama is going to take the high road on this which I respect, ( though I have a feeling if Chelsea Clinton was in the same situation if the conservative Evangelical right would be so forgiving) 

Look I will confess it now I was pregnant once before I got married too and I had a miscarriage ( I was 19 and scared to death and sad but relieved when I lost the baby , I didnt even know I was pregnant till that frightening day) and the father had wanted to marry me . So I am no angel and I have had regrets about my behaivor of the past and I learned that condoms are NOT full proof.

However the difference between me and Sarah Palins daughter is that my mother isnt a bible thumping conservative who is against sex education in school and wants to teach creationism along with evolution. My mother was raised a Catholic but she quit the church because 1) She thought priests being celibate was silly ( according to her my Sicilian grandmother said they are all men beneath those robes  and 2) She stated no man in Rome was going to tell her she couldnt practice birth control.  Sure my mom could have gone along with the game I have dear Catholic friends who not only practice birth control but I know three personally who had abortions.  But my mom is one of those people who said if I cant follow a tenant of a religion 100% then I do not belong practicing the religion.  Was my mother upset when I called her and told her I was in a hospital 300 miles having a D/C for a miscarriage, she was hysterical. Did she forgive me ? Absolutely .  Had I been lectured a million times when I was younger how being a virgin was a good thing? And didnt I hear the speech "Why should a man buy the cow when the milk was free?  I wasnt allowed to sit on boys laps, I wasnt allowed to date to 15. But in college I did what I wanted and so did Sarah Palins daughter. 

But I have some concerns over this.  I am glad that the boy is marrying this girl, I think that is the right thing to do , since hes just as responsible as the girl . But I am bothered by this candidate.   All this religious right stuff and whose kid gets preggers.  

Perhaps Sarah Palin needs to be tending her children rather than running for VP.  I read this morning when she was mayor of Wassilla Alaska , that she had one of her kids at night and returned to work the next day?

WTF?  WHY?  NO offense but Wasilla Alaska could have made it for a week or two or even a couple of months with minimal direction so this mother could BOND with her baby. Even the most basic child care experts say that first three months is vital . Now I am not saying you cant work and be a great mom. I worked ( Of course since my husband left us I had too) and I was a pretty OK mom.  And I did get to spend the first 9 months at home with my son before I had to leave him crying and me crying at day care. 

All the women I work with take 12 weeks off ( one did 8 weeks but her husband was laid off)  Under FMLA they took those first few precious weeks to recover and then  bond with their infants.

Something bothers me here. How could a woman just go back to work less than 24 hours after giving birth when she was mayor of a podunk town. For heavens sake Mayor Daly took more time off when his mother died and hes a mayor of million people.  

Is being in charge more important than mother hood?  I dont admire women like that.  Sorry , yes I know that mothers are fighting in Iraq, guess what I dont think women should serve in combat if they have kids under 5 .    Period.

So good luck to this young girl though its obvious she would have no choice but to keep this baby to term even if she wanted to have an abortion .  But please

Conservative Christians.  start looking into your hearts , it seems the more right wing you get the more I hear about kids like this.  The wildest girl on my dorm floor by the way in college was the daughter of a Lutheran minister.

A letter from a Republican

I wrote a dear dear friend of mine to ask her opinion of Sarah Palin, I have always respected this friends opinion , a lawyer and MBA she is extremely bright and articulate, She gets the stock market and the world economy. She even told me two years ago to get a house or condo NOW as she told me about the upcoming housing bust and how mortgages would be hard to come by. No she didnt have a crystal ball but she could see the writing on the wall.

Now my dear friend is also a dyed in the wool Republican. She always has been, her husband is too.  They have done quite nicely for themselves and live in the 1% of Americans that got tax breaks under the Bush Administration. They are expatriots living in Uruguay for their retirement. Yes Uruguay , alot of Europeans and Americans have moved there for many reasons  but that will be another blog

My friends lived in Talbot County Maryland, one of the most Republican bastions in the USA.  Dick Cheney has moved there as has Rumsfield. And my friend are SO Republican that I KID YOU NOT when you went into their home there was a picture of  them standing with George Bush at some Washington affair on their mantel. NOW thats REPUBLICAN.

Well she thought Palin is not qualified but has management experience but here is the part of the letter that shocked me

At the end of the day, I am very angry with the Bush administration and the loss of civil liberties.  We need to have that nonsense stopped now.  I have problems with Americans spying on Americans, the wall which I think is utter nonsense (who was the last country to build a wall????) and the bullying of people by Bush, Cheney et al.  Our foreign policy is a disaster.  Do you know when Bush came to Uruguay, there was a back up assault force in Punta del Este.  ---- and I were there because we were going to BA.  The Americans had 4 assault helicopters, and 2 transport planes.  That was the back up, the first group was at the airport in Montevideo.  The back up equipment is than the country of Uruguay has in total.  It was so over the top and offensive.  Plus, just what happened when we lived in SM was incredible.  Maybe I told you.  It was December 1st and ---- still hadn't gotten the fishing boat to the Oxford Boatyard for the winter only now it was sinking, bow first.  So  ----went out to get the bilge pump working and called the Oxford Boatyard people to come and help.  Everyone was bundled up because it was cold on the water.  The Oxford Boatyard guys showed up and the were all working on the engine.  Shortly thereafter the secret service (2 guys) were standing on the edge of Cheney's property with binoculars, 2 A 10's went over head at 50' off the water, and then the coast guard showed up in a hard bottom with a machine gun mounted on top and stopped about 100 yards from our pier.  WE WERE THERE FIRST.  THIS IS OUR HOUSE AND OUR PIER AND TOO FUCKING BAD FOR US THAT YOU MOVED IN MR CHENEY.  It was certainly a factor for us to leave.  How outrageous.  Can you imagine the cost of that little exercise?  What for????  
 
Anyway, I guess I am voting for Obama because I think these things have to change.  The country will move left but at this time I am okay with that.  I am afraid of the right to life groups but I am also afraid of the plaintiff bar.  I do not see how we can fix health care and still have the right to sue.  The plaintiff bar owns the democrats so I do not know how the health care system can ever be fixed.  But it needs to be.  What I have seen since traveling is that socialized medicine can work.  It does in France and Switzerland very well.  But there is no plaintiff bar.  You cannot sue the Dr or the hospital or anyone.  There is no cause of action allowed.  Plus, France has only 60M people (Switzerland much less).  A socialized system, I think, can get overwhelmed easily.  Canada has that problem in their cities, but not in the rural areas.  Of course the Big named doctos are not in the rural areas.  Therein lies the problem. 
 
I guess that is also what is appealing about Uruguay.  We have bought health care at the British Hospital (which is private and that costs $200/month with all prescriptions included) but that is in Montevideo so in Punta we have another private hospital and we buy their services as well.  That costs $75/month.  And the private hospital covers us here in the U.S.  So if we have any emergencies we are reimbursed by them.
 
I have rambled and rambled.  Reading what I have written says that I am very angry with the Bush Administration and as a consequence, I am voting for Obama.  And that is it in a nutshell.  If the Democrats can get me to vote for Obama, who in the heck will vote for McCain?

( I think this says it all doesnt it. This couple will get their tax breaks repealed if Obama is elected)

Ohhhhhh Nooooooooo He Hates America !

Ahhhhhhh I love politics, if I didnt have to work for a living I could get involved more in all this.  So drinking a cup of horrible coffee ( acck Hills Brothers when were these beans picked in the last century?)  I am feeling a bit crabby this morning.   Slept good, going to a great Polish Fest ( and yes REAL polish people go there and speak polish ) later but I just had to channel my bitchiness into this blog

Note the picture below , John Mccain , his trophy wife Cindi, Sarah Palin ( she looks alot like Dr. Melfi in the Sopranos, adoring hubby and cute new baby.  America at its findest ( though I have serious issues with a mother with a new born going with disablities going to trot off into the political arena but hey dad can raise the baby)  but its her life and her child so none of my business.

But notice the lapel of John Mccain....... Gasp ? Something is missing? What you say ?  A button (nope not on this guys expensive clothing budget?)  A FLAG PIN IS MISSING. I AM AGHAST , SIMPLY AGHAST and I think John McCain is a traitor.  Dont we all know the flag pin is the sign of your loyalty and patriotism to the United States?  Didnt I get emails and blogs ad nauseum warning me that Barack Obama is a muslim , communist, anti christ because he didnt wear one ? until realizing that the average American dumb dumb would not listen to his message if he didnt appease them  by wearing one( I wish he had stood his ground and not worn one because his explanation made sense). 

But every newspaper, CNN , and blogger kept noting that bad Barack not wearing a flag pin meant he hated America

OK now bloggers, CNN, Fox News. Hannity , all the emailers showing Obama Standing with his arms at his side for the Alleged Pledge of Allegiance when it was really the Star Spangled Banner.  Where is the collective clucking of tongues that John Boy isnt wearing a flag pin on a magazine cover that will be seen by millions ( if you stand in a grocery store line you see this magazine there is no choice) ........ Is he now disloyal, has he turned traitor? Does he hate America?  Has he joined Scientology?   I went and checked several web sites seems Senator McCain forgets his flag pin quite often.  Is it senility?  Or does he think since he was a POW he can get away with it

Just a digression, the 85 year old man who lives next to me was a POW in a Nazi prison camp during World War II, he was in prison for two years. Also he was in a battalion battle in which he was one of two survivors. He proudly has a license plate saying something about being a former POW, but guess what even on July 4th he doesnt wear a flag pin. Hes as much hero as McCain  ( PS hes voting for OBAMA) 

So please hypocrites of the world respond, why can McCain get away with it on a photo op on a National Magazine and Obama was crucified for it? I am awaiting the answer?  Is is flag pin equals face color?  If Obamas name was Wesley Jefferson ( you know Thomas had a kid or two with his slave) would the flag pin been less of an issue? 

No I just think McCain has got the nod so he doesnt have to play the game, instead of pandering to our loyalty hes got a new pander , an unqualitifed woman as VP.  I really dont care if he wears the damn pin or not. Im not that dumb

Gads More Irony

Governor Palin is the new vp nominee for the GOP.................I am kind of happy about it, I hope the Hillary people realize that if they vote for this ticket then they voted AGAINST all Hillary represented.  

I just see some irony here, Im not going to rip this woman a part though she cant pronounce NUCLEAR any better than George W.  She obvious has some smarts to be a mayor of 6,000 people  (though  now I think we should run Chicagos own mayor Richie Daily for president, why the hell not) then be elected governor while having 5 kids . She seems rather pleasant and my husband called her a MLF ( I was 50 before  I fount what it meant) ......and maybe in time she wouldnt be a bad choice at all, but shes not my choice.

I cant vote for someone who doesnt believe in evolution period but some irionies stood out. 

I mean Pro- Life but Pro-Gun...... I persume she meant hunting but there was a nice photo op of her toting what looked like an assault weapon.

Pro-Life? and her son is going to Iraq, perhaps to kill a couple of insurgents .

Conservative values but a mother of 5 children, one an infant with disabilities.

Isnt conservative America think mom should be raising her kids?  Heres a new infant with special needs whose mama is going to be stumping 60-80 hours a week

And then isnt it ironic that McCain honors women by picking a women VP  then  insulting us to think we will vote for her on the grounds we are mad Hillary didnt get the nod?  So we are smart but stupid? ( sigh taking deep breath pandering pisses me off)

I am going to chew on this one for awhile.  I am not switching my vote because he picked a "woman"  any woman who jumps ship now and votes because of Palin will never have my respect.  I wasnt fond of Hillary , but at the end if she had gotten the nod I would have voted for her, But a vote for Palin is the antithesis of all Hillary stood for. What an insult to Mrs. Clinton.  Its one thing not to like Obama and vote for McCain or vote for someone else.......... Sigh Im deep breathing now.  This old man thinks women are idiots GADS

The Irony

I sat there tonight and watched Obamas acceptance speech.  I had been very impressed with Gore ( and folks if you dont accept theres global warming I got a bridge to sell you ) 

But Obama moved me to tears, I sat there and silently cried not out of despair but out of someone getting how I feel. Sure hes a politician , Im not naive. And for those who dont know me , I wasnt for this man at ALL at first, I kinda liked Romney and I really liked Edwards ( sigh ok so Im dumb at times) I even have written Obama ( Hes my senator after all) more than once and called him an idiot  ( BY the way he did reply back or at least one of his staffers did)...... I didnt think he had enough experience, I thought hes too soft on illegal immigration ( I still do) but I have watched the debates on BOTH sides, the endless debates, the speeches and I am saying now that Barack Obama inspires me and hes got my vote.

And the irony, the man who has been accused of being unpatriatic for not wearing a flag pin or standing with his arms at his sides during the Star Spangled Banner ( which by the way is what 90 percent of Americans do)  this so called unpatriot , made me feel more patriotic to this country than I have in years.

Hes made me willing to roll up my sleeves and do what it takes to get my country back and bring us to what made us strong in the first place.

Feeling rather mindless today, saw the White Sox lose , melted in 90 degree heat and humidity and heading to a BBQ today in Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin( doesnt it make you want to move there Pleasant Prairie. I picture Half-Pint running through the fields yelling Pa Pa.......... Lets go fishing ) So Im mindless

So heres a few awards I am giving out for the hell of it

THE I CAN GO THE LONGEST WITHOUT BUYING TOILET PAPER AWARD :

The winner is my father in law. He announced at dinner he hasnt had to buy toilet paper in over 5 years !...... He is one of those frugal polish people. He had stockpiled some at a big sale years ago. I hope he is telling the truth.  I dont want to think of the alternative for him not buying toilet paper all these years I really dont

THE I KEEP FOOD UNTIL IT CHANGES FORMS :

Again my father in law.  He has brought over wine that has been sitting in the basement ( stockpiled of course) for 25 years.  He also brought a Sara Lee Pie that had been sitting in the freezer. I had to cook it ( one doesnt say no to him) and it had a nice skin on it . I never ate a pie that had a skin on it before. I said to him oh look its got a whole new layer on it but we had to peel it off and eat it anyhow. PS I Lived....  

MOST INGENIOUS SWITCHEROO ............. The winner is ME!. Again at said father in laws I had offered to make Easter Dinner when my mother in law was in the last stages of cancer.  I brought all the fixins including potatoes. My father in law insisted I use up the potatoes in the cellar.  He brings up these poor tired things with not only eyes but Sprouts high enough I could have hung my Christmas Ornaments on them and a whole set of lights?  So what does a good Daughter in Law to be do ( Hey I was already on thin ice, Im not Catholic, divorced and was living in sin with their son)........ I had my then fiancee. get dad out of the kitchen and stuff the Tree stalked potatoes in my purse....... I managed to shove ten potatoes in there........ Then I peeled mine quickly and voila . no one was the wiser......... and I got the old ones outta there

THE I SAW THAT CARPET BEFORE AWARD.........

Again my dad in law wins hands down. I went to the potty at his house and kept looking at the carpet below my feet.  Seems it looked so familiar. Seems we had an extra remnant in our storage closet when we moved to our condo and he took it and made a brand new carpet out of it . The man makes frugal have no meaning.

THE I AM NOT PAYING THAT AWARD....... once more the Dad in Law. He refuses to pay for the high garbage bill though he lives on a property valued around $1 million.  SO he wraps it up in a nice pretty package and gives it to us and I sneakily throw it in my dumpster.

THE I MUST SCARE THE HELL OUT OF MY EMPLOYEES AWARD......OR THE WE DONT WANT TO SEE IT AWARD. it goes to me. My office is so damn hot I want to scream at times. I guess I was getting pretty loud in my discomfirture and stated ( What I thought was to myself) that I was going to strip to my bra and panties if they didnt turn the air conditioning cooler . IN 30 seconds an employee ran in with a large fan. Have no idea where she stole it from. She plugged it in and turned it on high.... I guess the thought of seeing me in my underwear put wings beneath her feet . GOD bless her

Oral Sex and Cancer, A HOLY SHITT Primer

Well with a mother with cancer ( and let me tell you this is a slow descent into hell)  I notice all the articles about cancer, Its akin to buying a new car then noticing all the other ones on the road that has the same make and model

So I was reading the Readers Digest ( I know no literal  giant but good for those two am visits to the ladies room ) and read something that made my hair stand on end .  Cancer and HPV virus. Now for those who have been under a rock for the last 5 years HPV virus is a virus you get from sex.  And its been now found to be a cause of such nasties as genital warts and cervical cancer in women. About to 20 million Americans at this moment have this virus. You can pass it with no symptoms and face it folks. We are a nation that likes to hump...... with mulitple partners.  I am not making any mortality judgement because I like sex and I  could make Madonna blush.  

But another thing that is obvious in this country. Cancer is increasing in young people. In my office alone we have two women under 40 with breast cancer, a young man with leukemia. We often remark what a sick office we seem to be.  Lung cancer in non smoking women is going through the roof ( people like my mom who has to constantly answer the question did you or do you smoke when she sees another doctor) She never smoked one cigarette in her life.

Even scarier is the increase in throat and neck cancers in people under 50 in this country.  I never forgot going to my husbands best friends funeral. The guy had had lymphoma since he was 35 and put up the good fight for 15 years. But what stood out was his 42 year old brother giving the Eulogy , head shaved and carrying a chemotherapy bag in his hand like a purse. Seems he had tongue cancer.   He was getting aggressive chemo for this cancer and two weeks later he was dead.  Chemo killed his kidneys.

So where am I going with this ramble?  Well research is showing that that same nasty little virus that causes cervical cancer is being connected with a 3,200% increase in risk for head and throat cancer and that is why this disease is growing so fast in people under 50. To quote a doctor" this is supposed to be a cancer of the VA hospitals in men who smoked 30 years and drank a pint of vodka" in other word old codgers who abused their bodies.  This is a deadly cancer and while can be cured its a hellacious cure and alot of people die. 

And now to get to the nitty gritty how do people get HPV virus in their throats. Well think Bill Clinto and Monica Lewinsky and in reverse think of the french art form that women love , cunnilingus.  Yep good ole Oral sex.......... is putting us at risk for cancer. Who would have thought. How many teenagers are indulging  because of the Bill Clinton philosphy it isnt sex.  And for those who never tried. that dental dam stuff that you are supposed to use tastes like a balloon.  So whats the answer . Give up oral sex?  I think the chances of that are slim ...

But as cancer keeps hitting younger people eg ( Christina Applegate Married with Children actress breast cancer 36) we have to start looking at viruses and chemicals ( read a great blog in how lipstick is loaded with lead this am )  I dont have the solution except perhaps we need to put this in the main stream media and not Britney Spears diet secrets.  We need to stress to people they need to be honest with a new partner if they know they have HPV....... to have sex with someone and not warn them may not be as bad as telling someone they have HIV but to me its close

And perhaps we need to learn to like the taste of balloons. Or hey perhaps we go back to not screwing until we are married ( sorry the cart went before the horse here ) but I was always a chicken and always used condoms so somehow I am ok.

I have no solutions but believe me cancer doesnt just devastate the person who has it but the whole family.  But next time ladies you think that a BJ is safe sex think again?
