New News

So up goes Peace Train, the most requested song, and up goes a little gem you might not know of....

"Was Dog A Doughnut?" was released in 1977 on the album Izitso. It is said by some to be one of the earliest electronic records ever made. Featuring drum programming, Moog synthesizers and the classic dog barks which would later become a regular feature of electro records, it is a futuristic disco gem recorded by an artist usually known for his folk music. oh...and Chick Correa played on it too.

Now onto the news of the NEW website. It's done...yes it is....just a few tweaks here and there, the amount of content will blow your mind. full of videos and diary extracts....dont worry, we will tell you when we'll launch it. It's not long now.

Did you hear Tea For The Tillerman was released on DVD? (in the UK I think...it will be released in the US when the deluxe version of Tillerman comes out)

A Deluxe Version of Tillerman??? YES.... and a Deluxe Version of Teaser....come on and let the good times roll...will be released in the fall (Sep/Oct) with lots of rare demos and live tracks.

And if it couldn't get any better it just did...Yusuf is just finishing off his next record. Paul McCartney, the Legend, popped round and put some vocals down for one of the tracks.

Small update, sorry this page hasn't been maintained as well as it should be. We're on the case.

So what has Yusuf been up to since the release of his new record An Other Cup??? well he has been working on a musical called "Moonshadow" which i think might be on the road very soon. Apart from that he has a bunch of new songs that he doesnt know what to do with. It's a busy year for him, as usual, and we hope to have him craft a record out of them towards the end of the year. I also hear there might be some live shows at some point....im hoping he does this too, right now he plays whenever he feels the occasion is right. The occasion was right last week when he played a little fund raiser for the actor Kevin Spacey. The crowd went wild for his solo performance in which he played a new song from the musical, Peace Train (a blues version and then the original) and Bobby Darins Simple Song of Freedom (which he duetted with Kevin).

His son Yoriyos has also been busy, he recently shot a video for his song Endoscopises and played an acoustic session for Bob Harris, a BBC DJ that interviewed Yusuf a few years back. You can hear Yusufs interview here, if you didnt catch it 7 years ago.

A new website is on the way...they are trying to pack it full of goodies for you to hear, see and read.

Some deluxe albums with rare live tracks and out takes are being complied too.

I am excited to announce that 'The Harold and Maude Soundtrack' will officially be released on vinyl in December. This is a limited edition with only 2500 copies being produced. If you are fan of Vinyl Records, Cat Stevens and/or Harold and Maude, this is a must have. The soundtrack is accompanied with a 40-page booklet, along with alternate versions of 'Don't Be Shy" and "If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out" which were written specifically for Harold and Maude.

Yusuf special guest at Live Earth concert in Hamburg

This Saturday 7^th July sees Yusuf headlining at the awesome Live Earth event in Hamburg. As the evening's special guest he will close the concert in what promises to be a sensational finale.

The charitable event takes place in the HSH Nordbank Arena and aims to raise awareness of the dangers of climate change. Yusuf will be joined on the day by a host of other hugely successful musicians, including Shakira, Chris Cornell, Enrique Iglesias, Snoop Dogg, Jan Delay, Mia., Roger Cicero, Reamonn, Michael Mittermeier, Silbermond and Juli.

Live Charity Event in Germany

Yusuf will be participating at a Charity Event in support of Archbishop Desmond Tutu's Peace Centre in South Africa and Deborah & Carlos Santana's Milagro foundation in Bochum, Germany.

He will be speaking at the 'Challenge Future' conference on June 30th and also performing a live set with his band in the Charity concert on 1st July. The prestigious will also be attended by Carlos Santana and Peter Maffay.

Café Sessions on DVD now

Yusuf's Café Session concert at Porchester Hall marked his return to full-length performance after a 28 year gap. The DVD includes classics both old and new, as well as extra's 'A Few Good Songs'; an hour long BBC production with Alan Yentob looking at Yusuf's life, loves, his music and beliefs.  And Side Orders; featuring music videos from his revered comeback album An Other Cup and some exciting unseen performances.
