"Posapocalysm" addendum

Hello again,

I forgot to mention this in my last email- featured in my upcoming show, "Postapocalysm", will be two paintings from the live painting events I did with Alex Grey, "The HyperCoSMic Painting Jam" and the "Visionary Art Los Angeles". These pieces will be available for purchase and on view at Roq La Rue for the first time since they were started at the live painting events.

Thanks,

Chet

Rest in peace, Rambo

I am overwhelmed by the huge number of supportive messages and comments concerning the situation with my dog, Rambo. Thank you everybody. Your support has really helped my family and I through this difficult time.

Rambo died today. He was 12 years old and was recently diagnosed with cancer. I am very sad to see him go but happy that he is no longer suffering. He was truly the best dog I have ever had and we are going to miss him.

We adopted Rambo (his name from his previous owner that really didn't fit his sweet disposition) from a 24 hour pet adoption event put on by a local organization called For the Love of Animals Dog & Cat Rescue (I will be forever grateful for the great work they do for animals and for bringing Rambo and us together. Thanks go out  to Jo and Bailey Porter) He was a 7 year old Pit Bull mix and had been at the animal shelter for 6 months, so if he did not get adopted that night, he would have been put to sleep. Luckily for us, my older son Jeremy talked us into adopting him. It turned out to be on of the best decisions of our lives. Contrary to the reputations Pit Bulls have, Rambo was one of the most gentle and sweet dogs I have ever had and we really considered him a part of our family.

So that's the low down on Rambo. Thanks from my family and I to everybody for your kindness and support.

I miss him already.

Chet

DIGITAL CREATURE PAINTING WITH CHET ZAR

In this tutorial DVD, I take you through my process of designing a creature in Photoshop® using my own unusual variety of professional and aesthetic techniques. I start with a blank document and no specific guidelines, developing my rough ideas into a fully realized character. Observe every step of the painting's evolution as I explain my thought process and workflow. Topics covered include: developing a rough sketch, value and color, liquify, painting hair using custom brushes, and adding detail using layer styles.

140 Minutes of Lecture.

5 New Giclee Prints Available
Category: Art and Photography

Hello,

To celebrate my recent purchase of a new and larger format Giclee printer, I have added 5 new prints available in my webstore. All are printed on archival, thick 100% cotton rag, acid free Velvet Fine Art Paper using the same archival inkset. Each print is a Limited Edition and signed and numbered.

As always, my Giclee print prices are extremely reasonable. Many publishers offer similar print runs for more than 3 times the price, yet I am using the same printers, paper, inks and process. How do I do it? I print them myself! Why do I do it this way? To make art affordable!

So here they are:

"Black" is back by popular demand. This is the largest size of "Black Magick" I have ever offered on my webstore.

Here is a brand new edition of a piece that I have had many requests for. The "I Want You" Special Collectors Edition print is extra large and definitely imposing.

Tattoos
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Art and Photography

Here are some of the various tattoos based on my paintings that have been sent to me over the years. If you have one and it is not posted here, send me a pic and I will add it. Same goes for credit. I have not kept up on who did which tat on whom, so any info on that would be welcome, too.

First and foremost, it's Cameron Alise. This just impressed the hell out of me:
