Voyeur

Despite the psychosis of your dreams

did you believe they

would send out

search parties, cadaver dogs, psychics

Your finger prints are already forgotten

Your body lies unnoticed among the dead

This is your reality

tie the blindfold tight

slit your wrist

we will watch you bleed

This is the mythology that lies just below the surface of my life. I may stumble

through days wearing blood at my throat like a scar or wear the swirls from my

finger tips on all these bones, but it takes only a whisper in my ear or the glimpse

of a ghost to remind me.    It may take only a few words. Words that fade

quickly from the mind, but fill my heart like an infection, fill my skull like a

cancer. It may take the story of sailors and spoons to set me adrift in the horse

latitudes on a raft made from the bones of palominos and held together by the

carcasses of serpents torn from medusa's scalp. At times like these I can take

Orion's belt down from the sky and pull it taught around my throat but it will do

nothing to stem the flow of blood.

this is not...

~ Cornflower Blues ~

Let the flesheaters come
I have my dreams of
snow and tangled darkness
my papercuts. I can close
the cemetery gates
with mosaics and
shattered stars. I can drink
your compulsions and
molten gold
These are my secrets
watch me bleed

~ Rant ~
I saw nineteen
years in the past today
all blue anchors and
stained-glass fractions
all the answers in my hands
Now knowing
what I know of
time travel
it is hard
stumbling over twisted steel
splashing through radiator fluid
kicking aside disgarded bouquets
it is hard
living in this dying place

Zeus

Your mother

let a rock in swaddling clothes

fill your father's gullet

hiding you in a cave

spear and shield clashing

to mask your cries as

you suckled colostrum

from the breasts of nymphs and

hurled lightening bolts from your crib

yet you still fulfilled the words of the oracle

with a brew of primordial ipecac or

the sharpened knife's edge

reversing infanticide and

taking your place in the sky

When the dust settled

you repaid the

nymphs and nursemaids by

turning them into mountains

losing them among the stars

cursing them to repetition

hiding them in boxes and

in the end

damning us all

Yellow

Sanity slides through my teeth

like taught surgical tubing

as I slam black tar heroin

from the tip of this pen

Love fills my throat

like post-nasal drip

of glass shards and blood

as I chop dusty rails

from these grains of flesh

Dreams drown in my skull

like diseased hearts

as I drink formaldehyde

from the fragility of paper bags

Life lies in the wreckage

like a prison masquerading as paradise

Death hides behind muzzle fire

like a mistress

and despite it all

none of this helps

photos from bolivia...

Category: Travel and Places

For those of you who don't know I am about 6 months away from being a doctor. Over our last semester break a group of 11 student interns and 2 clinicians traveled to Bolivia to treat patients in dire need of medical care. We treated over 1200 patients in about 7 days and saw all the usual subluxations and postural imbalances, but several of us were able to diagnose cancer, reactivated tuberculosis, bell's palsey, scoliosis, parasitic / fungal infections, and  fractures.

This trip was a life changing experience that I have been trying to write about since being back and just haven't been able to do it justice. I have so many bits of poetry and stories sitting inside me about this trip, but they won't come. Eventually...

Until then enjoy the pictures...

Trash

bob your head in the darkness

like a ghost

stalk me

as the plastic tightens

for what its worth

insanity. genius. death.

it is all there

between the rain drops

in my blood
