EXCITING NEWS -- NEED YOUR VOTE FOR THE GRAMMYS!
Current mood: giddy

Hi everyone! I'm SO excited to share some news with you!

A few years back, I started feeling like I needed to go to the next level with my music, and I wasn't sure what that would look like, but I took a leap of faith and declared that I was going to win a Grammy in 2008, not having any idea of how to do it .... I just got word tonight that I'm on the right track!

I got the 2008 Grammy Nomination Entry List tonight, and I got FOUR grammy nominations on the Grammy Nomination entry ballot (one of them is for my hubby's music video on my new album)!!

If ANY of you are voting members of the Recording Academy, or if you know people who are voting members, we need your help to get to the next level -- PLEASE send us some voting love in the following categories:

FIELD 1 - POP
Category 7 - Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals
082. "Into Forever" by Riddle the Sphinx

FIELD 14 - FOLK
Category 69 - Best Contemporary Folk / Americana Album
025. "Metamorphosis" by Christiane Cargill

FIELD 23 - COMPOSING/ARRANGING
Category 85 - Best Instrumental Composition
043. Ceili by Christiane Cargill, composer

FIELD 31 - MUSIC VIDEO
Category 109 - Best Short Form Music Video
057. Four Green Fields, Christiane Cargill (**Directed and Produced by my hubby, Sean Kinney!!)

In addition, we submitted for the artwork on Metamorphosis (also done by Sean), which I believe will be nominated by Special Committee shortly, so if you happen to be on the special voting committee or know someone who is, please pass that info along as well!!

Thanks for always supporting my dreams and my music - I love you all!

xo, ~Christiane

Quotes about Redheads :)
Category: Blogging

Here are some fun quotes about redheads from my friend Stephanie!  THANKS STEPH!  xo, ~c

"A face without freckles is like a night without stars."

"If you want trouble... find yourself a redhead."

"Blondes are noticed but redheads are never forgotten."
-Unknown

"Of course, part of the 'problem' with redheads is that there aren't enough of them. They make up just two percent of the population. So they're pretty extraordinary. Redheads are too numerous to be ignored, too rare to be accepted."
-Grant McCracken, from his book Big Hair

"It's not just a hair color, it's a state of mind."
-Realm of Redheads

"Please just call me red-headed and forgive me."
-Anne to Gilbert in Anne's House of Dreams

"Nobody who has known a redhead can say that redheads are tame. Even shy redheads have a burning spark of adventure inside them. Opinionated, hotheaded, logical, loyal, friendly, reserved, whatever the redheads' personality, you can bet they'll have SCADS of it!"
-Review of The Redhead Encyclopedia

"I do believe my redheadedness plays a huge part in who I am. If I were a blonde or brunette, I would be an entirely different person."

"We redheads are a minority, we tend to notice each other - you know, and notice our identity."
-Juliann Moore, actress

"All throughout history, from Reuben to Robbins, redheads have been recognized as a rare breed. Blondes may have more fun, brunettes may be brainier, but when it comes down to raw energy, creativity, and personality ... you just can't beat a redhead well, you can, but beware ... she'll probably beat you back!"
-Redheads Unlimited

"The highest percentage of natural redheads in the world is in Scotland (13%), followed closely by Ireland with 10%. In the US, about 2% of the population are natural redheads."
-Marcia's Facts About Redheads

"Redheads are dry and easily irritated. And that's just talking about their skin!"
-a dermatologist

"It ought to be a criminal offence for women to dye their hair. Especially red. What the devil do women do that sort of thing for?"
-Bill in P.G. Wodehouse's Indiscretions of Archie

"I am strong. I am invincible. I am redhead."
-T-shirt

"When red headed people are above a certain social grade their hair is auburn."
-Mark Twain, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court

"My hair is pretty dark red... And of course, it catches fire in the sunlight. A great time to bring out a redhead's coloring is right before sunset, when rose-colored clouds and golden light begin to streak across the sky."

Redheads and the Men Who Love Them.......

"It's not the hair that turns men on, it's the spirit that redheads exude."

"Gentlemen may prefer blondes, but it takes a real man to handle a redhead."

"I used to hate my red hair, but now I love the attention I get with it. I think that very smart, daring men love red hair, and I love that in a man."

"They are probably the worst people to date. They are demanding and obsessive and they can't make up their minds about anything, so they are very difficult to figure out. But I still love them."

"Once in his life, every man is entitled to fall in love with a gorgeous redhead!"
-Lucille Ball

"Redheads have been nicknamed demons by my associates and I because of what they can do to the human heart. Best thing that's hit the Earth, ever. Never had too much luck with them though. Advice is accepted...."

"The sun on a brunette's hair looks red. The sun on a redhead's hair looks like Heaven on Earth."

"All women should be born red. If not, then they're not real women."

"I just love redheads with gentle curls, draped around a long white neck. Fair skin on a redhead is very sexy,
although I like freckles as well. Damn! Redheads are just, well, you know--the best."

"The attraction to redheads is a lot like being addicted to drugs."

"Men who do not fancy redheads should take a vacation on a funny farm! Redheads are so clean and beautiful
that they should have their own museum."

"Redheads are a spiritual thing. They are just simply superior."

"They make me extra stupid. And what we're all really looking for is women who make us stupid, etc....."

"Please God, make a pill to cure this redhead obsession!!!!!"

"Redheads just rule. You just can't get any better."

Truth (or Dare) .... HOLLYWOOD SQUARES!
Current mood: happy
Category: Games

Yee-haw!  I'm in a good mood, so how about a little game of HOLLYWOOD SQUARES?!  Please welcome newcomers Melissa and Wiggly Piggly to the game this week!

TRUTH (or Dare) HOLLYWOOD SQUARES!

THIS WEEK'S CELEBRITIES:

      SEAN              MELISSA           ALANA

     JIMI                   PAUL                    JIM

     HYDE        WIGGLY PIGGLY       JJ

THIS WEEK'S CONTESTANTS:

JOHN         &         ERIC

THE RULES:

I'll post a weekly blog for "Hollywood Squares".  8 lucky people from my rotating Top 16 list for that week will be the "celebrity squares," and I will be in the center square (see pictures above) (*except when I'm tired of asking myself truth or dare questions, in which case I will designate another person from my top 16 as the center square).  I will designate two contestants from my friend's list each week to play.

The first contestant will blog his or her choice among the "celebrity squares."  I will post a "truth or dare" style question for that "celebrity" about their life, and they will post an answer.  The contestant who chose that celebrity will post whether he thinks the answer is true or they are bluffing, and that will determine if they get that square.  If the contestant gets it wrong, the square goes to the other contestant by default (excluding the center square, which only goes to the contestant who answers correctly).  And we go until someone gets tic-tac-toe!   :)

Okay, let's play!  You're up John!   xo, ~c

Birthday Pictures!
Category: Life

Okay, JJ has demanded it for almost one month, so I am finally complying with her request for pictures from Sean's birthday festivities this year!

So, we started his birthday bright and early at 7am with a horse jumping lesson from our friend Beth.

SEAN ASSUMES THE POSITION ....

and JUMPS!

(Okay, this wasn't the best picture .... he did get some good jumps in that day; I just didn't seem to capture any on camera!  Where's Paul when you need him at 7AM .... oh yeah, asleep ....)

Next, we met some friends in Burbank for breakfast at Mo's.  I had the Green Eggs and Mo.  Need I say mo?

Next we headed up for the jousting!  Since it was a long drive to the training area, I decided to do a scavenger hunt for Sean's birthday presents along the way, with silly things he could do in the car .... his dad and brother were with us, so we did a Chinese Fire Drill and other such nonsense to keep our brains preoccupied on the road .... I made special puzzles and crosswords that would lead him to presents hidden inside the car .... I especially liked when he had to call Alana and get her to sing the National Anthem while on speakerphone .... she didn't even question it; what a sport!

But onto the joust .... Sean especially enjoyed dressing the part ....

The instructor said Sean was in the top 10f students he ever taught who got to joust on his first day, let alone at a full speed gallup .... of course, he is a stuntman.  Again, my camera work is a bit dodgy .... ;-)

We would have stayed longer, but we had helicopter lessons, and since I didn't participate in the horse-jumping or jousting, I was ready for some fun!

Wait a minute, you want me to fly THAT thing?  Where the *!&re the doors?

(That's me busily reading the manual .... LOL)  I went first, in our little R-22.  I figured I would warm it up before the daredevil got inside!

Needless to say, we both survived the day's events, and somehow managed to get through the day without signing the dreaded birthday death waiver that is ALWAYS required on Sean's birthday .... although honestly, we probably should have signed three!

Then, at long last, we got home for a nice birthday party with friends .... I hardly took any pictures at the party, though I did capture some of the after-party balloon fight, which was as fun as it was when we were 8 (maybe even more so now)!

That's Sean's dad and brother on the couch.

So plan ahead next year so you guys can be there with us!  (At least for the party!)

I have succumbed to peer pressure yet again .... Game 6 Begins!
Current mood: thankful
Category: Games

Well kids, John and Egg had a hell of a match last game, so I think we have to give Egg the opportunity to have a come back!  And since he got to rest in the last game, and I don't want to kick anyone out of the game to add a new player, I am going to give up my coveted "center square" this week and focus on playing hostess!

THAT'S not a Fortune!
Current mood: confused

Panda Express is guilty of it, as are a lot of other Chinese food chains with their so-called "Fortune Cookies" now-a-days.... but have you guys noticed that the "fortunes" lately aren't fortunes at all?

This has been a subject of discussion between me and Sean for quite a while now.  Our office ordered Panda Express for lunch today.  Case-in-Point:  My "fortune" said this: "Someone is speaking well of you."  Not a fortune!!!!  Now, my bosses' fortune cookie said "Soon you will come into a bundle of money."  THAT's a fortune!  (And a good opportunity to ask for a raise ....)

"Someone is speaking well of you."  I'm glad, don't get me wrong, but geesh!  Where's my bundle of money?  Where's my unexpected visitor?  Where's my travel to mysterious lands?  If you aren't going to print a fortune, why don't you just call it a "Psychic Cookie" and put a bunch of nonsense that no one can prove wrong in it?

I KNEW I should have grabbed Paul's fortune cookie instead.
