Phil Mcintyre Entertainments in arrangement with Karushi Management presents Chris Cox: Control Freak Edinburgh Fringe Festival Pleasance Courtyard, 6.20pm 30th July to 25th August 2008
You think you have free will, you think you can decide what you choose, you think fate can't be changed, you need to think again! Chris Cox will change the way you think! After selling out at last year's Edinburgh Festival (his debut) - the mind reader who can't read minds is back reading minds in an all-new show 'Chris Cox: Control Freak' which comes to the Pleasance Courtyard.
'Control Freak' focuses on our ability to control those around us, through a mix of magic, psychology, neuro-linguistics programming, reading body language, subliminal messaging, influencing and lying. It takes the ideas behind the last show, 'Everything Happens For A Reason', and explores them in more detail; this funny, entertaining and cutting edge show will leave you laughing, thinking and rubbing your chin in a slightly curious fashion.
Last year Chris looked at how fate and chance are mysteries of the universe, now he's worked out that there are rules to the universe, and if you learn those rules you can control the universe (as long as the universe is an un-biast selection of people in a room in Edinburgh watching him and thinking he's great!)
By trying to remove the audience's free will and controlling them without them knowing it, giving them the responses they need he tries to prove that he can make it look like he can read their minds! Chris will be looking at the 'what if' moments in life, trying to work out how all those little things about our lives add up to turn us into the person we are. Audience participation crucial!!!
"One of the most exciting entertainers in Britain" The Guardian
"Does tricks that would make Jesus proud. Very Funny" Time Out
"A show that'll change the way you think about your life… a mesmerising performance" **** Edinburgh Evening News
"Commands his stage like an old hand.. very impressive" Glasgow Herald
"Must See' The Stage
"Get a ticket fast before they're all gone. Pure magic" ***** Broadway Baby

BBC Radio 1's resident magician (or 'Wizzard') Chris 'the magician' Cox fuses magic, mind-reading, psychology & comedy to create a show like no other. You never know, he just might take control of YOUR life.

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON is a comedy-fuelled, interactive, theatrical experience utilising cutting-edge magic, multimedia technology and youthful showmanship, energy and flair, with not a wand, fez, saw or crystal ball in sight. In EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON, Chris 'The Magician' Cox of BBC Radio 1's Chris Moyles' Breakfast Show, will delve deeper into the minds of the audience. Through subliminal messaging, subtle suggestion, illusion and psychology, Chris performs a series of individual mind-tricks as he takes the audience on a path to their own grand finale that Chris will have predicted – and if he didn't, then perhaps he wasn't meant to, the show will finish a couple of minutes early and who knows where those extra minutes will lead; To the purchase of a winning lottery ticket? To the middle of the road at the wrong time, only to be struck down by a bus? Meeting a soul-mate through a chance encounter as you leave the venue early? And, should that happen, will it have been influenced by Chris suggesting it might?
"A fun show… I guarantee Chris' final trick will leave you awe-struck & speechless" - THREE WEEKS
Chris has been interested in magic since the age of six, when he received a Paul Daniels Magic Set as a gift. Ten years later and Chris had been gripped by the psychological aspect of magic, specifically mind-reading. Now 23 year's old, Chris has honed his skills, performing on a vast number of TV shows including Comic Relief, Live & Kicking, The Big Breakfast and The Seven O' Clock News. In 2004, Chris was spotted by BBC Radio 1 producers whilst performing in Bristol and Glastonbury and was quickly signed up as the top UK radio station's Resident Magician, devising tricks and delighting audiences alongside Chris Moyles, Colin Murray, Edith Bowman and Jo Whiley. More recently, Chris has worked with the likes of Russell Brand and Ricky Gervais and now often finds himself referred to as "…a young laid-back Derren Brown…", with the ever-modest Chris adding "…but better looking… and funnier!"

More from Colin in the Fame Academy House
Hello blog readers.
Sorry for the delay in responding, have just been so busy with everything that's going on for the Chris Moyles Rallyoke, but more importantly for Colin in the Fame Acadmey House. Have been down there for the last two nights, and will try sum up my feelings.
So yesterday when Colin did a lovely version of You Were Always On My Mind. This was always going to be Colin's hardest song, and it proved at times to be a bit difficult, but it's so hard to hear when you're in the studio you can't quite tell, but that said some of the judges comments were a bit harsh, particuarly the orange man, he is there to talk about dancy dance dancy not singy sing song, so he can shut up. Fortunatly your votes help Colin get through, but I'll tell you this, I was so nervous and scared when he was one person away from the final 3, we jumped for joy and he just continues to make everyone so proud and so entertained.
Tongight was a great night, I think Colin opened the show brilliantly with Sweet Caroline, and you can tell he's trying really hard to improve, and he's getting there... so keep voting to give him the oppotunity to get further into the competition, to learn more and to keep entertaining you. He seems to be having so much fun, and is really enjoying himself. He honestly is so happy and excited to make it through and it does mean the world to him, so not only does your vote help people at Comic Relief but it also helps Mr Murray. We had a quick chance to speak to him after the show today, he's got another great song lined up tomorrow and he was enquiring as to how this site is going, so get your messages of support coming in to www.voteforcolin.com
You may well have seen me there today wearing a makeshift voteforcolin teeshirt involving a bit of sticky tape and a colin poster and a white teeshirt, I probably looked a big geeky but did enjoy a good singalong with Colin and was a bit overly excited when he got though. I was also wayyyy to hot as that studio is maddeningly warm.
So I'm going to go to bed now as I have an early start, will be away on the road for a few days now so not at the FA house till Monday where hopefully Colin will still be there. Please vote as much as you can, remember it's his birthday on saturday and your gift to him can be a vote or two.
Keep the Murray in the house.

Vote For Colin: Day 1
So he does it then! Colin makes it in to the Comic Relief does Fame Academy house, and we're all very very proud of him. Annoyingly I spent Saturday night at Butlins in Bognor Regis recording some stuff for this weeks Chris Moyles show, so didn't get down to City Hall to see the show live, but in theory will be there on Wednesday night so I'll be reporting all the backstage action in the hope that through my entertaining and interesting blog you'll pick up your phone and text Colin to 84466.

Vote For Colin -1 Day
This will no doubt be the first of many shamless vote for colin messages.
First update from the Colin Murray camp on Day minus 1, for Fame Academy... he's so nervous he's currently got the two bit bobs. He also nearly fell off a chair and died before the adventure began.
More info on www.voteforcolin.com later this weekend when I can be bothered to finally update it.

A different Chris blogs (from bbc.co.uk/blogs/chrismoyles)

Hello to you loyal readers of The Chris Moyles Show Blog.
Now, just before you get too excited, I am not Chris Moyles, I am Chris Cox, yes I know we're both called Chris, and no I'm not the strange love-child of Chris Moyles and Sara Cox. You may have heard little gobbets of me on the show, or my good-self being talked about. If you heard any of the award winning Chris Moyles show team talking about Chris the magician, well that magician called Chris, he be me.
Hoop Dog, (king of blogging) has just told me my blog is the longest one written on here, so I apologise for that, I kind of just started typing and this is what came out. Here goes...I'm currently the Assistant Producer on the show while Jocelin is on Early Breakfast Producing duty with Childrens Television stars JK and indeed Joel. I'm very much enjoying it thanks for asking. I am busy working on stuff for the Rallyoke at the moment. You can expect to hear all about how you can join us on the Rallyoke on Wednesday's show. It's very exciting, there is plenty of uber-cool things planned and hopefully we'll see you on the road.
Today we had Take That in on the show, I've not met them before, but they were very nice lads. They announced another tour, here's a fact for you, I went to see them on tour last year and thought the put on a great show… not quite as great however as my Chris Cox mind-reading show, because, I'm a magician (I don't think I've mentioned it yet.) I do mind-reading type magic, mixed with some comedy and some psychology and other bits and bobs. I somehow lucked out with 5 star reviews and must see show listings and last years Edinburgh Festival, so am going to be doing it again this year and spent this weekend starting to write my new show, which I think will be called Everything Happens For A Reason.
Now, I realise I've just plugged myself a lot there, so I apologise for that, and to make up for it, I've made a little blog related magic trick for you to try at home. Below you'll find a table with the names of people relating to the Chris Moyles Show (International Radio 1) have a look at them, and see if any one takes your fancy. Got someone? Yes? Wonderful.

Now, this is what you have to do.
1) Put you finger on any orange person
2) Move up or down till you read a blue person
3) Move left or right till you reach a orange person
4) Move diagonally till you read a blue person
5) Move up or down till you reach a orange person.
6) When you are done remember that person......and it should be....
Chris Moyles, The Saviour Himself.
Did it work? If so, brilliant, aren't I amazing (well no not really, it's fairly simple but hopefully it will have let you waste a few minutes in your day) if not, you did it wrong, and thus you are an idiot.
This weekend I also went to see The Killers they rocked the place, it was so very very loud, an amazing gig, a real top night out… and one of my gig highlights in the history of my gig going, which also includes Robbie Williams, The Spice Girls, Hear'Say and my favourite band The Barenaked Ladies. Oh yes, I see all the greats.
In other, less exciting, and somewhat more scary news I got mugged last week, I'm fine but it scared me quite a lot, and I lost my fancy shiny new phone. One of the problems is that I am now somewhat agoraphobic and don't like walking anywhere on my own. I don't like it very much at all, it scares me just to walk down the road, it's a bit girly, but dear-blog readers, I'm sharing it with you, because they say it's good to share (unless you only have one chocolate left, in which case you should gobble it up.) I shared this information just now with my mum via email, she asked me if Paul McKenna might be able to help. I think she means by teaching me ways hypnotise potential muggers. I'll keep you abreast of developments.
Ok, so I have more work to do now making sure that everything is ready for tomorrows programme. If you liked my blog I occasionally blog on my myspace so have a look if you're interested, there's some stuff about the trip to Alton Towers there.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I hope to blog with you again soon. I like to use the word blog in my final two paragraphs because blog I feel is a funny word to look at due to the b and the g looking like inverted versions of each other. blog blog blog, see what I mean. blogbye

What a week / Chris Moyles Birthday Surprise
Well it's Friday, and what a week it's been. I'm currently sat on the sofa in my lounge, enjoying a night in with nothing to worry about.
So let's quickly summerise my week before getting onto the Moyles Birthday Show, which I'm sure you're all dying to know about... perhaps, possibly... no.
I'm going to start the week on Sunday, because on Sunday, Colin, Cat, Kirstin and I went to see Tim Minchin in Epsom, he was indeed fantastic and funny. Then on Monday I went to see Mark Watson and Him do some more stand up, and thought I'd leave after the first of two shows they were recording. I wish I hadn't, for on my way home, at 9pm at night, down a nice well light street called Warren Street, I got mugged, by four punk youths who carried a knife. It was a horrible experience, they took my phone, wallet and the like, but didn't hurt me luckily, so it wasn't the best of starts to the week.
Thursday however was a good fun filled day. It was Chris' birthday so we'd planned a special birthday show, which meant me spending a few weeks tracking down and recording birthday messages from such stars as, Bobby Davro, Ken Hom, Richard and Judy, Richard E Grant, Dean Gaffney, Lisa Scott Lee, Evan Davis, Theo Paphitis, Duncan Bannatyne, Richard Farleigh, Peter Jones, Noel Edmonds, Kate Lawler, Richard Fleeshman, and various others who I can't remember.
The show itself went brilliantly, was really good fun, Joss Stone was crazy but I thought very lovely, but then again she did hug me! after the show we all got onto a lovey luxury coach and went up to Alton Towers, and they'd decided that they were going to open the park just for us. So the show team (myself, Aled, Rachel, Carrie, Dom, Chris and Dave) along with Kate from R1, Dave and Chris' ladyfriends, Jon Culshaw, Chris' Brother, Jodie the plugger and Tim all enjoyed a 3 hour trip there and a 3 hour trip for about 4 hours in the park.. but it was worth it.
On the way up Chris enjoyed opening his presents, here you can see him proudly holding the Sumo game thing I got him.

We watched Top Gun, and Dom and I called BBC Radio Lecister (I can never spell that word) to take part in their phone in as various random punters, it was comical to say the least.
We got to Alton and had the park to ourselves which meant riding lots of Air and Oblivion and playing Laser Tag, I managed to record Dom and Dave and Rachel and Carrie on Oblivion while hanging onto the recording stuff for dear life. Then we went to their waterpark, which was good fun, because I got to swim swim and go on some water chutes, before a spot of dinner some more birthday cake and a coach trip home.

About halfway back I got a bit bored so some how Kate and I started playing a game where we named as many words beginning with the letter V as possible, it seemed to last for about 2 hours this game, much to the annoyance of Chris, but it's a never ending game, and can continue anytime anyone says a word beginning with V that has not already been said. If you're bored on a car trip why not try it.
Here are some pictures of the laser tag game Aled

Chris

Us lot on Air

So to Friday, where I prepped for Take That who are in on Monday's show, and now a weekend of writing my new Edinburgh Show which has been cofirmed at the Gilded Balloon, finalising some Tour Dates for the autumn, and going to my Niece's 1st birthday and to see The Killers.
But enough about me, how have YOU been?!
oh and before I go... alittle teaser for what I'll be talking about in my next blog...

Moyles Birthday
Ok, so there will be more to come on this over the weekend, but I've just got back from Alton Towers, where we celebrated Chris Moyles' birthday by them opening the park just for us, and very exicting it was too, but after getting up at 4.30am, I'm not far too sleepy to write all about it.
But for now, enjoy this pic of us hiding ready for Chris' birthday suprise. We-wa-wo-wa
