Well today is my Birthday July 23. I am 37 weeks pregnant and ready to have my baby soon. I only have 3 weeks till my due date which is August 15. I cant wait I am already for my little guy to come and I am so excited and sooo nervous for the labor hahaha. Well. Alot has been goin on. My life is like a whirl wind right now. I thought I had my life planned and once agian things have changed more than I ever thought they would. I am happy for my life and my ability to bounce back from everything. Shawn and I didnt work out. He couldnt find work out here so he is staying in BC and I am stayin here. We are really good friends though and we talk a few times a week about everything still. I have tried goin out with a couple ppl but the sexy factor isnt there for me and I dont have much confidence right now so I think I am just gonna hold off until after the baby is born. I think guys really dont know what they want they say they are ok with a girl being pregnant but they so arent. So whatever. lol.  I cant do much right now anyways cause I am on bed rest... I went to The Capital EX ( a fair) and I got burnt sun stroke and dehydrated and got to spend the nite in the hospital. So I basically learnt my lesson.. so even though it was my bday I stayed home and just had stacy over had some pizza and watch some tv. I think the only reason I want a boyfriend right now is cause I am hormonal. lol. So I think I should wait till Im a little more clear headed lol and the hormones have faded. I dont need a boyfriend. I am strong enough to do it alone. But... Im just lonley... lol.

Phenylketonuria

Phenylketonuria (PKU)

I was born at the Surrey Memorial Hospital in Surrey B.C Canada, With the Metabolic Disorder Phenylketonuria otherwise known as PKU.

My parents were told three days after I was born that I had a Metabolic Disease, that I had inherited because both my parents were carriers of this Genetic Malformation on the thirteenth chromosome. The disease arises from the absence of a single enzyme phenylalanine hydroxylase. This enzyme normally converts the essential amino acid, phenylalanine from protien, to another amino acid, called tyrosine. Failure of the conversion to take place results in a buildup of phenylalanine. 

If this Disease is not treated with a low-protien diet, and Special Dietary formula the excess phenylalanine is toxic to the central nervous system and causes the severe problems such as:
¤Mental retardation
¤Behavioral or social problems
¤Seizures, tremors or jerking movements in the arms and legs
¤Hyperactivity 
¤Stunted growth 
¤Skin rashes (eczema)
¤Small head size (microcephaly)
¤Vomiting
¤A musty odor in the child's breath, skin or urine
(caused by too much phenylalanine in the body).
¤Fair skin and blue eyes, because phenylalanine cannot transform into melanin
(the pigment responsible for hair and skin tone).

This disease is treated by a strict low-protien diet, with a formula that drank to ensure all the proper nutrients, and vitamins are still included in our diets, that we cannot get from eating foods with high protien.
(High protien foods include: beef, poultry, fish, grains, milk, and dairy products, legumes, and processed foods).

This diet comes along with Low protien foods that are avaliable through hospital, and special dietry companies.
Such as Cambrooke foods, Dietry Specialties, and Aproten. Which do not taste like the real thing and usually taste pretty horrible for the most part. But have come along way even since I was young. Give credit where credit is due.

-The formula comes in many varieties, When I was a baby newborn to 5 yrs, I was on 175 scoops of Lofenalac daily.
-At about 6 yrs of age I was switched to 175 scoops of Phenyl-free daily (which is now discontinued).
-As of now I am on 5 Packages of  PKU Express Orange daily, which is a low volume formula that I mix with about 3 ounces of water or juice.

When I was younger my daily intake was 325mg of phe daily which is about 6.5 gms of protien.
As it stands now, I am 5 months pregnant and can only tolerate 300mg of phe daily which is just under 6 gms of protien.

Stacy: Stacy has been my bestfriend since grade 10... We have been through the best and the worst of times but in the end we have still always made it through and I am so greatful that I have her in my life agian as of latley LOVE YOU FOREVER STACY!

Sue: My 2nd mother, a good friend, someone I can always confide in. Brianna's Grandmother, she is a great woman and I am lucky to know her. When she gets older I am gonna adopt her and have her live with me, and be my crazy clepto nanny! LOL! LOVE YOU SUZY Q

Shawn: Is my boyfriend. He is a great friend, and I tell him everything. I dont know what I would do if I didnt get to talk to him as much as I do. I feel so much love and support and I feel so lucky to have such a great person in my life! I LOVE YOU SHAWNIEE!

Sandra: My new friend, who also has the metabolic disease as me PKU. Who lives here in Edmonton we talk on msn and on the phone and I am gonna meet her this weekend March 21/2007. She is a sweety tryin to get pregnant with her hubby. I love to talk to her and I feel very luck to have a person so close to me who knows how it feels to go through what I am

  Mom: My bestfriend. I love her so much she is the best person I have in my life to talk to I love her with all my heart!

Dad: Best dad in the world, keeps to himself, acts like a hard ass but he is so sweet and gentle on the inside... I love my dad! Im a daddy's girl!! Brothers: 

Dan: My younger 21 yr old brother... I love my brother he is a good guy, works hard, and has a big heart, and I am so happy he has found Jamie! she is a sweety... LOVE YOU!

Dave: My older brother who is 35 ish... lol. He has a great family Carrie his wife and my two nephews Brenden almost 5 and Ryan almost 3. My brother is a good guy, but I never got to know him till I was about 18... I wish I had more time to spend with him and get to know each other!

My god-daughter Brianna: Brianna there is so much I can say about this beautiful soon to be 3 yr old. She can put a smile on my face even on the worst days. She is beautiful she has a funny sense of humour she is soooooo smart and has a wide vocabulary. I LOVE YOU BRIANNA!

MY SON: Who I havent named yet and who isnt here with me on the outside yet. But I spend everyday with him in my belly. I am 5 months pregnant. With him kicking and tickling me all day long. I can't wait to meet him. As I have a metabolic disease this pregnancy thus far hasnt been to easy. I am on a strictly regimented diet and I have had alot of all day sickness that has just started to subside! I CANT WAIT TO MEET HIM!!!!!
