Last shows for a while ...
Current mood: grateful

Hey there ~ this week's shows will be IT for me for a while. Being pregnant with twins makes it hard to stay up for more than 3 hours at a time and certainly makes it difficult to sing without burping. If this is news to you - take a look at my blog ("My Most Beautiful Song"). The whole story is laid out for ya.

If you're in the So. Cal or Vegas area - I'd love to see you:

Tuesday 11/18- Tangier in Los Feliz. 8 pm sharp.
RSVP to pnutsings@aol.com for the discount list. (Please don't RSVP on myspace) Tickets are $10 if you're on the list, $15 if you're not - but it's all for a good cause! Proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Project. Check out www.woundedwarriorproject.org. I'm playing with my dear friend Kevin Montgomery ~ a singer/songwriter not to be missed! This is an unplugged/ acoustic show.

Wednesday 11/19 - Canyon Club in Agoura. Time- I don't know but it will be early. I'll post it as soon as I do. I'm opening acoustic for my favorite touring buddies- the Bacon Bros.

Saturday 11/22- Canyon Club in Las Vegas Baby! Time - again, early. Check back or call the club. It's part of the Fremont Experience/ Four Queens Hotel. Opening acoustic for the Bacon Bros.

My Most Beautiful Song
Current mood: satisfied
Category: Life

My Most Beautiful Song....

has yet to be completed. It will take everything out of me, but give me back more joy and satisfaction imaginable. It has started to write itself, and the big lesson is that to be ultimately creative, I must give up control, understand and accept the miracle of true creativity ~ Life.

There is a reason I have not been able to tour over the last year. It's the same reason that I have written only one song since I released "Wobble with the World" and have barely been able to blog or podcast. You're about to hear my Big Secret. Every creative cell in my body has been devoted to one cause: Family ~ caring for the ones around me and for the ones yet to be. Many of you know that Chip and I got married in April 2007. For the last year and a half, we've been trying to start a family of our own.

I am going to be open with you because I know I'm not the only one who has faced challenges in trying to conceive. When things didn't go as easily as they do in the movies..... I finally consulted a Reproductive Endocrinologist ("Fertility Specialist") about a year ago. I quit caffeine, alcohol, started sucking down wheat grass (which is like licking a lawn mower) and spent a fortune on vitamins and supplements. I stopped touring, started acupuncture, joined a support group, and still to this day have the intense desire to drop kick anyone who tells me to just get drunk and have sex in the back seat of a car. You see, there were medical reasons I was having difficulty. I have an issue with the hormone FSH. Mine fluctuates on the high side - which means that if my reproductive body is a car, you have to put the pedal to the metal to get it up the hill and even then, it "putt putts" to the top. PLUS, I have cysts - figure those to be speed bumps in the road. I've always felt young, looked young, and enjoyed my inner child. But my ovaries....well, apparently they have aged in dog years. After trying all of the poor man's version of fertility treatments, Chip and I finally decided to bite the bullet and try IVF. For those of you who are only aware of the down and dirty, fun ways of making babies, what I'm saying is that we tried all that, then an evil Bitch Intensifier drug called Clomid, then the turkey baster method (aka Intra Uterine Insemination), and eventually ended up having to set my eggs up with his swimmers on a very expensive blind date in a petri dish. A couple of them got along really well.

Fast forward a few months, a LOT of shots in my tummy and hips, patches and pills and various photo shoots of my ovaries and uterus (which apparently are quite photogenic!). Thanks to a brilliant team of doctors and nurses, and blessed by a divine stroke of luck, I am a sleep-walking barf machine. I would really like to enjoy being pregnant and I'm sure I will sometime soon, but right now everything smells, nothing tastes right, I'm too tired to put up with anyone or everything and I can't stop burping. But I am HAPPY. Yes my dear readers, I am pregnant. In fact, the petri dish episode went so well that I am possessed by TWO little miracles growing inside of me. Twins. Wow.

I am telling you the news relatively early - I am only 9 weeks pregnant today but I already have a pooch. It basically looks like I've been eating a lot of cupcakes. Why am I telling you now? Two reasons. One is that I am exploding with this information and the story of this journey that has consumed my life for the last year and a half. Second is that I am considered "high risk" so I could use your prayers.

You have no idea how relieved I am to share this story with you. My ponderings have always been a way for me to release the thoughts and feelings that sit just above my songs. It's like I have to release that brain spew in order to get to the heart of the matter. As I said above, my most beautiful song is writing itself. G-d willing, I can finish it. I can't wait to sing it for you.

Love,
pnut

Lerps, Lady Bugs & Eukey
Current mood: animated
Category: Blogging

At this moment, 4,500 lady bugs have been deployed on Mission Eukey Cleanse. Actually 3,000...but 1,500 more are on the way. I did purchase the BUY TWO GET ONE FREE deal, but the nursery tried to jip me and sent me only 2 bags. They will learn that you can't mess with Pnut. The lady bugs, however, find it amusing to crawl up my pant legs and fly into my chai tea. They are the few troops that have strayed from the army that is poised to exterminate the LERPS.

"Effing Lerps." Lerps are insects that migrated from Australia about 10 years ago (probably in someone's vacation souvenir bag)- they are in the psyllid family for those of you who care. I'm not sure why you would. But anyway, these evil little creatures have infested Eukey, our Eucalyptus tree which grows up the side of our house. Our deck even has a circular cut out to make room for this 80 foot beauty. Well, Eukey WAS beautiful until the Effing Lerps chewed up the foliage and built their honey dewed, cone-shaped homes like pioneer settlements all over the leaves in order to shelter the larvae. These bug huts eventually turn into black mold spores that fall upon the deck in a sooty snow. You can't walk outside without crunching the lerp droppings and getting little black circles all over the bottom of your shoes which track back into the house, car and Trader Joe's.

Ziggy is outside right now, covered in lady bugs, trying to lead them to the Lerps. He put together a contraption pole that hoists the lady bug bag waaaaay up high into the tree so as to deposit them within perfect firing range of the Lerp terrorists, also known as Insect Extremists.

I'm allergic to Effing Lerps. I'm allergic to their moldy spores. They are in my house, in my shoes and up my nose.

Apparently they cannot, and will not, be eradicated. They can only be moderately controlled by Lady Bugs (who eat them) and wasps. If you think I'm gonna buy 4,500 wasps (I'm allergic to bees), let me assure you that I would rather eat sushi (I HATE FISH...it makes me throw up) than have 4,500 wasps delivered to my door from a nursery that is so incompetent as to ignore the buy two get one free deal.

I will let you know how Mission Eukey Cleanse progresses. But in the meantime, I must go help Ziggy save the Lady Bugs that have fallen on their backs.

B Positive
Current mood: cooky/wacky
Category: Blogging

I just found out that my blood type is B Positive.  I guess I am innately a cheerleader and perhaps, should be a Life Coach.  If a Vampire came upon me in the dead of night, I would smile and say B POSITIVE!  If I am ever in a serious accident and blood is spewing from my side, I will offer up the fountain of my body fluids to the universe and say B POSITIVE!!!

I don't know why this all rings so silly with me today but it does.

Postponing some Tour Dates, including those in No. Cal

Just a heads up that due to some unforseen circumstances and band conflicts, we have to postpone the No Cal tour and our Ventura show as well.  Keep your eye on the calendar as I will post new dates shortly and reschedule the same cities that I just had to cancel.

5 more things you don’t know about me
Current mood: curious

I think I do this at least once a year when I get bored - and I find it both fascinating and wildly entertaining. I'll tell you 5 (more) things you don't know about me, and then it's your turn. I love getting to know my cyberfriends better, so please chime in.

1. I have a weakness for throw pillows. I adore them. I love coordinating colors and patterns and piling them up on the bed. Although there is not one iota of practical functionality in them....I must have my throw pillows. Ziggy hates them. At least he doesn't UNDERSTAND them.

2. I did a pilot for the New Dating Game when I was in college. Don't even TRY to find it - you can't. I already looked. But anyway, the guy I picked (out of the three bachelors) was a lot older than me and I had to have a chaperone on my trip that we won (to New York). I was NOT into my date and ditched him to hang out with one of the chaperone's friends who somehow crashed our party. I don't remember much of the trip except for trying egg nog from a street vendor and thinking it was gross.

3. I got in trouble in nursery school for telling my teacher she was fat. To this day, I still feel guilty.

4. I was ALMOST Ariel in The Little Mermaid Disney movie. I was the second choice...

5. I can't eat donuts. When I was trying to control my appetite many years ago, I was practicing visualization techniques. Apparently if you visualize something really disgusting about a food that you're addicted to, you can break your addiction. It wasn't really an addiction, but Monday morning jelly donuts had become a habit during a summer job at my Dad's office. So when the receptionist at my Dad's office bit into HER jelly donut and found a cockroach inside, I had my perfect visualization. I haven't had a jelly donut, or any donut for that matter, since. Not even a donut hole.

OK- you're turn.

A perfect day for a Bank Robbery
Current mood: fermented

"Gee. It's summertime. What should we do today? Go to the beach? Grab an iced mocha? No...we can't afford an iced mocha. Let's go rob a bank!"

Or so thought a couple fools who successfully robbed the bank in the same building that houses JamCat Records. On my way through the lobby going to lunch, I walked by a bunch of yellow crime scene tape and police officers trying to look cool after two "very casual" guys made off with a bunch of dough. Apparently you don't get much if you rob a bank these days. According to an anonymous bank manager source that I met in the elevator....they have a standard protocol to give away only so much cash. It's like they plan for it the same way that flight attendants practice what to do in case of an ocean landing.

Across the street at Jerry's Deli, while waiting for my Chinese Chicken Salad at the to-go counter, I imagined the bank robbers chowing down on pastrami sandwiches in the middle of the restaurant, gazing victoriously out the window as police officers paced up and down the Boulevard.

In my neighborhood, there have been no less than 7 car break-ins during the last 10 days. A neighbor called the cops and it took an hour for someone to show up. They are THAT busy.

So this is the state of our economy. All I can say is....if you spend your precious time, gas and minimal expendable income to come out to one of my shows, you amaze me and I so appreciate your support. If you can't, I totally understand. Just don't rob a bank. ;)

Watermelon Weather
Current mood: breezy

Hey there ~
It's watermelon weather....the days of Flip Flops and the smell of sunscreen.  And then there are the ants in the watermelon juice that dribbled onto the deck, that crawl into your flip flops and attach to the sunscreen between your toes.  SORRY.  I don't know why my mind went there. Cyberslap me.

Just wanted to give you a heads up about some local So Cal. shows next week and other fun gigs that may be of interest. No ants.

CINDY ALEXANDER LIVE....

FRIDAY June 27th I'm playing at the Westfield's Century City Mall at 2pm sharp as part of a promotion for Koffee House Music Productions and Borders Books & Music. This is part of an ongoing original/acoustic music series on Fridays and Saturdays this summer at the mall. Music starts at 12 pm in the pavillion near the movie theatres and food court.

SUNDAY June 29th @ ***HOTEL CAFE*** 9:00 pm - Hollyweird
Also playing that night: Two Loons for Tea (after me) and Tongue and Groove (before me)
This is a wonderful, intimate venue with great sound and yummy paninis.
1623 1/2 N. Cahuenga Blvd (Between Hollywood and Sunset) Parking is in the ALLEY just North of the venue, and the entrance to the venue is off that alley in the back.
I'll be doing a mix of old and new tunes, acoustic and electric.  Basically...having fun.
DO RSVP and let me know you're attending so I know how many cookies to bake ;)

FRIDAY July 11th @ Zoey's in VENTURA 9:00pm
How bout a little trip up the coast to one of the sweetest venues I've visited in ages. Saw Geoff Pearlman play there (my amazing guitar player) and had to book a show there for myself.  Be sure to make reservations because there is limited seating.  Food, service, sound and ambiance are great.
Info is here: www.zoeyscafe.com
Hope to see you at one or all of the above.
Either way, have a great summer.
