Open Leter to the Lamest of Ducks on Vets Day
Current mood: pissed off
November 11, 2008
George Bush 1600 Pennsylvania Ave Washington, DC
Dear George,
I am writing this to you on the fifth Veteran's Day I have mourned the death of my son, Casey Sheehan. Casey was a soldier in the Army. You killed my oldest son with your lies and greed for Empire. Casey never became a Veteran because he came home in one of those pesky flag draped coffins that your mother doesn't want to bother her "pretty mind" with.
During that other illegal and immoral war that you and your VP, Dick, had the good sense to dodge, your mother never had to go through one second of worry for your safety, did she? You were too busy doing your drugs and going AWOL to bother her "pretty mind" about that. What galls me the most when I think about my brave and honorable son's needless and untimely death, is that you were so cowardly and worthless when you were his age and you had the nerve to condemn thousands of our children to death or disability with your lies.
George, I have written you letters before. I have demanded your resignation and also promised you that I would work for your impeachment. If you remember, I even started a peace camp of thousands of protesters outside your Crawford ranch and I even tried to get into Congress so I could impeach your criminal hide. You never answer my letters and you have never had the integrity to tell me what "Noble Cause" killed my son. This is the last letter you will receive from me while you are infecting our Oval Office, but it won't be the last time you hear from me.
George, I guess I could "rest on my laurels" and allow you to slink off into the quiet desperation of leaving the White House as the most detested President in American history, but that is not enough for me: Millions are dead, wounded, displaced and suffering life-long pain because of your actions. You are the number one terrorist in the world today and this country catches, tortures and prosecutes "terrorists" doesn't it? Haven't you said so yourself? You have turned the USA into a nation of imperial mobsters and we have the ignominy of being torturers and you do not deserve to retire with any kind of peace or honor.
George, if Nancy Pelosi and the other complicit Congressional leaders won't hold you accountable, I will. This nation has a very short memory and we have been assaulted on a daily basis by your arrogance and stupidity and most of America is buying the hype of pre-packaged and aggressively marketed, Hope, but I don't have the option of burying your deadly legacy like it never happened and moving on. The hole in my heart that used to contain the living and breathing presence of my son will never heal and you are the one who put it there. If you think you are going to live a comfortable life in Dallas, or Paraguay, or wherever, a la Johnson, Nixon, McNamara or Kissinger, you are wrong.
George, this country too hastily moved on from the abomination of Vietnam and we never healed from that horror because we never did the hard work of holding American leaders accountable for crimes against humanity. If history repeats itself, as it tends to do, you won't be held accountable for your crimes, but I won't let you forget the faces of my son, Casey and his comrades or the legion of faces of the Afghan and Iraqi dead. Are your dreams haunted by the souls of the people massacred by your hubris?
If I have to buy or erect a billboard near your home and plaster it with the faces of the people you murdered, I will. I will also work with my contacts in the international community to have you indicted for crimes against humanity. I will do whatever it takes to be the thorn in your side as you have been my sorrow. There are many people around the world who thirst for justice and healing who will join me in this noble cause.
This Nation forgot the faces of the 58,000 plus Americans and millions of Vietnamese who were slaughtered for imperial greed, but they won't forget the faces of the ones you have sacrificed on your altar of deception or the ones who will be sacrificed for the President Elect's continued War OF Terror. If Obama does not declare a speedy and complete end to the USA's war of terror on the world, someone should set up camp at his vacation home (which I bet will be nicer than Crawford, TX in August).
On this Veterans Day, I make this pledge to you. Unless we stop the bloody tide of war for profit and US hegemony by seeking justice for your war crimes and crimes against our Constitution, more Casey's will die and more countries that unfortunately lie in the path of imperial conquest will be decimated.
On this Veteran's Day, I also send my love and support to the Vets from all wars who live on our streets and are substance abusers because they can't get help from this hypocritical government. My heart goes out to all Gold Star Mothers who have nothing but a box of medals, a triangular folded flag and memories of a dead child and regrets for a life not lived with him/her. The war machine in collaboration with our government chews people up and rolls on oiled with pain.
George you broke your oath to "faithfully" execute your office and you betrayed the troops that you command due to nothing but election fraud, but I will not break my promise to you.

-- There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root--- Henry David Thoreau
The past few weeks have been a little strange at Cindy for Congress and, I guess the things that have been happening could just be coincidences, or a run of bad luck, but the climate for the possibility of campaign hanky-panky certainly exists.
Campaigns have been compromised since the beginning of campaign history, but these days with legal warrantless wiretapping and political party conventions sponsored by AT&T and the constant call of "all hail to my political party" and obeisance to the banksters above what's good for our nation, maybe what's been happening on my campaign isn't coincidental or "Mercury retrograde," or whatever.
Starting with the necessity of "changing a light bulb" (bugging my phone) in my hotel phone at the DNC (brought to you by AT&T) while I was out of the room, Cindy for Congress has had an increasing number of attacks. Two weeks ago, we were begged by organizers of a "radical" music festival called "We the People(Sheeple)" forbade me from speaking after having begged me to be there. An article in LA Beat said that the Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigoso was involved in the decision to silence my voice. Not only did we go down to L.A. at our own expense, but also we took an entire day of valuable campaign time to do so.
The past week, though, has been incredibly trying. First of all we had to file a restraining order against a former volunteer whom, with hindsight, we now know was probably spying on us for the Pelosi camp. After we let this person go, his emails to us became increasingly hostile and threatening. After that happened, the tail lights in our campaign-mobile were busted out (the campaign mobile that has Cindy for Congress signs all over it and pictures of it were in an AP story.
Towards the end of the week, four young men walked into our office and they were acting quite suspiciously as they pretended to be registering to vote. One of our interns was helping them when I heard her yell: "No! Stop!" I heard an awful noise and ran out of my office to see the young men run off. They had grabbed one of our computers (leaving a jar of donations on the front desk) and beat our intern over the head when she tried to stop them. Our front windows are almost totally covered with signs and posters and it would be hard to see what we have from the street…we did, thankfully, recover the computer which has sensitive material on it and we are even more thankful that Somer is okay. (She's tough like her boss).
After several days of harassment, I got home late one night to discover a jury summons in my mailbox. I have been summoned to jury duty the week of, you guessed it, the elections!
The final (and in my opinion worse) weird thing happened on Saturday night. We had scheduled a group of "robo" calls to go out today (Monday, Oct 13). At 10:30 Saturday night, we started getting phone calls and emails blasting us for sending out the calls at 10:30 on a Saturday night, which is not only illegal, but extremely annoying. The company had approached us to donate 10,000 calls to us and then was charging us a small fee for the rest of the calls. 38,000 early/absentee voters received this call and my office has been overwhelmed with angry voters who won't be voting for me now and some of the good will that we have been building here in San Francisco for the last year went down the drain in just a few minutes. Was it just a "glitch" in the system, as the owner of the robo-call company claims, or overt sabotage of the campaign? Isn't it sad that we have to be paranoid about all of this? To be sure, our office is in a rough part of town, but the frequency of the harassment is certainly intensifying.
The stakes are high and I have a feeling "they" won't stop at anything to assure that the tyranny of incumbency continues.

"Where's Kenny Rogers When You Need Him?: The Big Boys Got Their Bailout, But the Elected Leadership and the Voters Meet at the Election Day Showdown" October 6, 2008
At the precise moment when we couldn't imagine it getting worse, it does. After all, the Democrats, since they acquired majority status in the Congress, delivered funding for George Bush's wars several times. They authorized retroactive immunity for telecoms that helped Bush's Administration illegally spy on us. And they never really considered any alternatives to the basic bailout wish list given to them by Bush and his Treasury Secretary, Henry Paulson.
Sadly, I must say that this failure on the part of the Democratic leadership is by far the greatest perfidy of the Democrats yet. I shudder to think what betrayal of the Constitution and the people of this country yet awaits us. I am forced to ask, "What do they stand for?"
I think they have shown us time and time again what they stand for, what their values are, and that they are willing to leave the people behind in their quest to acquiesce to what Bush's base asks for. And remember, Bush told us that his base were the haves and the have mores! So, if the Democratic leadership is more loyal to them than they are to the working people in this country, then a new political alignment of historical proportions is taking effect that the working people of this country must recognize. By their policy choices, it should now be clear that the Democratic leadership in Congress must be removed and a political party that reflects the people's values must be built. Not only do the people need a party of their own, it should now be clear to a vast number of people that the people in this country need a movement that places our values on the political agenda. This was what I said in my remarks accepting the Green Party'snomination as their candidate for President of the United States.
In 2000, when there was clear evidence that the election had been tampered with, and that particularly, black voters had been disfranchised, the Democratic leadership did nothing to recognize and correct this fact. Criminal behavior was met with de facto acceptance, a failure to investigate, and ultimate acquiescence by the Democratic leadership.
Through my Congressional office, on my own initiative, I investigated and discovered one of the mechanisms used to disfranchise voters and put my findings on the Congressional Record. Sadly, because of inaction by the Democratic Congress, the basic mechanism used by the Republicans to steal the vote in 2000 could, in fact, be used today to further disfranchise voters. Further, one million black votes across our country were not even counted, 78,000 of them in Florida alone.
What kind of election is it when the votes don't get counted!
In addition, in the late 1990s, electronic voting machines were introduced into the U.S. election architecture. From that time until today, where they are used, voters and inexperienced or untrained election staff have had to cope with machine meltdowns; screen freezes; dead and dying batteries in the middle of the voting process; deployment of untested machines, particularly in the South, that failed repeatedly due to heat; vote flipping (usually in only one direction); ballots that don't list all the candidates without manipulation of the machine""which could be problematic for some voters; incorrect ballots being displayed on the machines so that voters are allowed to vote in elections for which they are not eligible; machine sleepovers in insecure places where they could be tampered with; meaningless recounts in the absence of a paper trail where only bits and bytes previously entered can be counted; and the absence of a paper ballot that allows for accountability and transparency during and after an election.
Later, it was learned that these machines were not only hackable, but that the instrument used by the voter, the PCMCIA card, could be programmed to change the outcome of the election! Some of the machines were found to have wireless adaptations that opened the election to an additional level of insecurity due to wireless capabilities in everyday blackberries, treos, and other handheld devices.
With all of these defects known, electronic pollbooks were allowed to become an additional part of the election architecture and they produced an additional layer of disfranchisement when incorrect voter information was loaded into them and voters had no means to contest it. In too many cases that took place in my own 2006 election, voters were turned away from the polls only because the pollbooks contained incorrect information!
Elections in this country are now firmly in the grips of electronic voting machine technicians, inexperienced and poorly trained official poll workers, and computer companies using secret software. Sadly, the Democratic leadership has done nothing to eliminate this potential source of fraud, even in this""an election year!
In 2004, the Democratic nominee, John Kerry, promised that the black vote was not going to be disfranchised as it had been in 2000. John Kerry conceded the election the day after Election Day, even as reports were coming in of massive black voter disfranchisement. It was the Green Party and the Libertarian Party that went to Ohio and sorted out exactly what happened and pressed for criminal prosecution of those guilty of election fraud. Sadly, in 2004, after the experience of 2000, an estimated three million votes were not counted.
The Green Party's Bob Fitrakis in Ohio is sounding the alarm again for this year's election. Some blogs like Bradblog, and organizations like Black Box Voting continue to sound the alarm now, even more urgently, and press for election integrity.
Last week I became the first Presidential candidate to sign the StandingForVoters. org pledge to not concede the election unless all votes are counted, and all challenges to the results have been adequately made. We really need the Democrats to sign such a pledge because they have caved in the past two Presidential elections.
In addition to that, the Democrats now have the power of the majority. They are in control of the Congress. And the way the Constitution is written, power flows up from Capitol Hill to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue--not the other way around. But even while in control, the Democrat leadership has done nothing to prepare the way for election integrity in this election. Even in the face of massive preparations for theft again by the Republicans through the use of the same techniques used in 2000 and in 2004 and adding to them voter caging (removing targeted voters from the voter rolls) and enforcement of new voter ID laws. Even judges appointed by Democrats have helped to thwart citizen legal action on behalf of election integrity!
It should be clear that even in an election year, there are serious issues that should be on the table; the Democrats control the Congress and can make public policy to their liking, reflecting their values.
And that's where I want to begin my discussion of the bailout.
Nancy Pelosi is the third most powerful individual in the United States government as Speaker of the House""third in line for the Presidency of the United States. She controls when bills are scheduled for consideration in the House of Representatives, or even whether they are considered or not. The people of this country and her colleagues in the House gave her this position because the people hunger for change and they thought that the Democratic Party would deliver that change to them.
The people of this country want peace, not war and occupation; justice, not fraud; community, not hooliganism. And so, the people of this country voted the Democratic Party into majority status to attain all of that, public policy that reflects their values. Nancy Pelosi, by virtue of her position, has been dealt a royal flush.
By now, Nancy Pelosi could have used that winning hand to stop the funding for war and occupation--$720 million every day--and decided, instead, to subsidize education so no university student graduates one hundred thousand dollars in debt just because he or she wanted an education.
Pelosi could have insisted on reflecting the people's values and our Constitution by repealing the Patriot Acts, the Secret Evidence Act, and the Military Commissions Act. But she did not.
She could have used that royal flush to provide a single""payer, Medicare-for-all, type of health care system for this country, consistent with the wishes of the Democratic Party's base, particularly organized labor and an increasing number of health care professionals. But she did not.
In light of the tremendously important election this year, she could have insisted on enacting some measure of election integrity to prevent another election being held where the announced outcome is truly in doubt. But she did not.
She could have taken her seat at the table as the one player in the room with the winning hand, but she did not.
Instead, she assumed the position of the beautiful girl in the short skirt holding the platter of drinks, serving the men at the table. She could have been the leader and spokesperson for us all, but she is not.
It is clear that our country is at a financial crossroad, and the times call for courageous, daring acts on behalf of the people from those gifted with leadership positions. That, too, is not happening.
From the myriad writings that I have read, including those of former Comptroller General David Walker, it is clear that the financial status of our country is subject to get worse before it gets better. The Bush-Pelosi- Reid bailout exacerbates the situation because the fundamentals of the economy were not dealt with in what is perhaps the most massive transfer of wealth in our modern history. And while the money could have gone to people in need and for programs contributing to the public good, preparing our country for the future, it did not.
I published two papers outlining fourteen points that the Congress could have implemented even without a bailout, but most certainly should have implemented with one. The second paper, written on my son's birthday, was entitled, "A Birthday Gift for a Generation: A U.S. Financial System of Our Own."
Taken in conjunction with the Power to the People Committee's platform available on the campaign website at
1. Enactment of a foreclosure moratorium now before the next phase of ARM interest rate increases take effect;
2. elimination of all ARM mortgages and their renegotiation into 30- or 40-year loans;
3. establishment of new mortgage lending practices to end predatory and discriminatory practices;
4. establishment of criteria and construction goals for affordable housing;
5. redefinition of credit and regulation of the credit industry so that discriminatory practices are completely eliminated;
6. full funding for initiatives that eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in home ownership;
7. recognition of shelter as a right according to the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights to which the U.S. is a signatory so that no one sleeps on U.S. streets;
8. full funding of a fund designed to cushion the job loss and provide for retraining of those at the bottom of the income scale as the economy transitions;
9. close all tax loopholes and repeal of the Bush tax cuts for the top 1% of income earners; and
10. fairly tax corporations, denying federal subsidies to those who relocate jobs overseas repeal NAFTA;
11. Appointment of former Comptroller General David Walker to fully audit all recipients of taxpayer cash infusions, including JP Morgan, Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and AIG, and to monitor their trading activities into the future;
12. elimination of all derivatives trading;
13. nationalization of the Federal Reserve and the establishment of a federally-owned, public banking system that makes credit available for small businesses, homeowners, manufacturing operations, renewable energy and infrastructure investments; and
14. criminal prosecution of any activities that violated the law, including conflicts of interest that led to the current crisis.
"There is no victory until the paradigm is broken. Until we change the way money works, we change nothing. Right now, the entire economic paradigm of infinite growth is vulnerable, weak, and exposed. The dribble being offered by Obama and McCain only exposes the fact that everything is broken; that the system itself is the enemy."
Everyone can see that the system is broken: a system that was not created to serve the people of this country. It was totally within Pelosi's purview and that of the Democratic Party to change all of that, but they didn't. In fact, I'm shocked by some of my former colleagues who voted for this bill, particularly the Members of the Congressional Black Caucus who supported this. With this vote, and the failures of the Democratic Party up to now, it should be patently clear that the Democratic Party cannot reflect our values because it is in complete obeisance to someone else's.
The elected leadership of both the Democratic and Republican parties should resign.
That's why I can hear Kenny Rogers's sweet voice wafting through the air now:
"You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.
Now ev'ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
Cause ev'ry hand's a winner and ev'ry hand's a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."
However strong the Big Boys might appear after the October 3rd bailout vote, they still have a "leak" in their game: the people get to vote on November 4th. And that's the biggest "scare card" in the entire deck!
Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. Thomas Jefferson
Has it occurred to anyone else that almost 100% of our elected officials have turned into tyrants? From George Bush, Senator Harry Reid (D-Nv) to Nancy Pelosi and their Congressional minions, they are ignoring the will of the people and are, in fact, collaborating with the banksters to undermine the safety, prosperity and lives of We the People. Many economists are predicting a long and terrible depression and Congress's bankster bailout has only hastened and worsened the crisis.
Many of our supporters called Pelosi's office yesterday to demand that she come off of her arrogant perch and descend to the street level here in San Francisco to debate Cindy Sheehan and the other two challengers to her seat. Every one who called reported getting the notorious Pelosi run around that she made infamous by her "off the table" politics.
We know that Pelosi and her ilk care more about their bank accounts and political party affiliation than they do about this country and humanity but we will continue to press on and demand that she defend her indefensible positions and explain her inexplicable policies.
• Why did she abdicate her power of the purse string to fund George's wars of aggression? • Why did she allow the ban on offshore drilling to expire? • Why did she grant immunity to the administration and telecom companies for warrantless wiretapping? • Why is she trying to gentrify the last bastion of diversity in San Francisco, Bayview/Hunter's Point? • Why does she support privatization of national parks and energy? • Why did she support BushCo's policy of torture? • Why did she take the important Constitutional remedy of impeachment "off the table?" • Why did she allow the Homegrown Terrorism Act to pass Congress and why did she not stop George's tyrannical Presidential Directive 51? • Why did she give Goldman-Sachs' former CEO (Treasurey Secretary, Henry Paulson) 700 billion dollars to bail out the unregulated Wall Street financial pirates?
The other evening when CFC supporters were being verbally attacked by her staffers, Pelosi's Chief of Staff yelled out, at one point, "Did you all vote for George Bush?" Is irony dead?
Cindy Sheehan has been standing up to the "man" since her son was murdered by the Bush regime in April 2004. Nancy Pelosi has been standing up for the "man" since she became Speaker of the House. She has not denied George Bush one thing and CFC has a library of pictures of Pelosi fawning over George Bush.
We need to overthrow this government and we need to start here in California's 8th district by overthrowing George Bush's best friend, Nancy Pelosi.
Support Cindy Sheehan.
Many of you are on our list because, not only do you know that Nancy Pelosi has failed the people of San Francisco, but she has betrayed our nation by not cutting war funding or impeaching BushCo (etc); but you also believe in Cindy Sheehan and our groundbreaking campaign.
Many of our supporters ask what can be done from long-distance in these last few weeks of the campaign...We have opportunities to phone bank into the district from the comfort of your own home, work place or wherever.
We will provide you wil phone numbers, instructions and a script. Please email Jackson@CindyforCongress.org and he will get you started.
The support we have received has been overwhelming and we need to ask you for more help to defeat the corporatist-imperialist, Nancy Pelosi!

MAJOR CALL OUT FOR PRECINCT CAPTAINS, TABLING, AND PHONE BANKING
It is coming down to the wire folks, we really need precinct captains and phone banking. This is the most important election in years. A victory over the corrupt incumbent republicrat Pelosi would engender a transformation that would be felt all across the United State. The fall of the Speaker, the third in line for the presidency, would embolden other independents, strike fear into the heart of those career politicians that consider themselves answerable to no one, and give a lift of hope to us that would be felt all over the world. Let's not have to pretend we're Canadian when we travel any more. Let's be certain we did all we could do to ensure Cindy Sheehan's victory, and be part of creating his/her story instead of just being a victim of it.
So come in to the office whenever you have a spare hour or two to phone bank, and/or if you've decided you've had enough of watching your country and the world suffer with the corporate phonies and you want to be a precinct captain. Ask for Jackson.
Also, we're doing tabling with Cindy information, signs, buttons, etc. Monday through Friday from 11am to 3pm. "Small People" Bailing Out Wall Street by Selling out Main Street Cindy Sheehan
I am watching the debate on CSPAN over HR 1424 the "Emergency Economic Stabilization Act." As you can imagine there is empty rhetoric on both sides of the issue and there is bi-partisan support and opposition. If anything, it's a little more interesting than usual. Rep Gary Miller (R-Ca), in a rare lapse of guarded "poli-speak" said that this bill would help the "Small People." Meaning, you and I. Fundamentally, that's what we are to the Congressional-Wall Street Cabal---the "Small People."
But, watching the proceedings, I am underwhelmed how these people are all of a sudden worried about we "Small People."
Congress, under the failed leadership of Nancy Pelosi, has passed laws to undermine our 4th Amendment rights to be safe and secure in our personal correspondence, phone calls and emails. Nancy Pelosi's Congress has given George Bush over 500,000,000,000.00 dollars to age his insane wars in Iraq and now they are going to give his Secretary of the Treasure, Henry Paulson, (Former CEO of Goldman-Sachs), 850,000,000,000. 00. That's a lot of zeros!
Congressperson after Congressperson has risen to say that we must hand over billions of "Small People" tax dollars so "Small People" will not "lose their jobs" or "lose their homes." We "Small People" have been losing our jobs and our homes at record paces only rivaled in the 1930's, and not one Bill was passed to help the "Small People" keep our jobs and homes. Tent cities are arising all over the country and Congress is going to bailout an industry that caused these cities and not only that, but use our money to help keep the CEO's in the style to which they have become accustomed.
Congressperson after Congressperson have also risen to say that their constituents, we "Small People" are overwhelmingly against the bailout of corporate piracy and pillaging, but he/she will vote for the Bill anyway, because he/she knows better what is good for us "Small People." We will eat our spinach and like it, because our REPRESENTATIVES have become mini-dictators in the shadow of the Fuhrers who are exercising fascistic control over every aspect of our lives.
I would like to remind everyone that at the beginning of the year, Congress passed another "emergency" bill that gave we "Small People" a few hundred dollars that did nothing to stimulate the economy. The solution to the crisis may cost billions of dollars, but not to hand to Wall Street. The bill failed on Monday, but Wall Street did not crash.
The solution is to put our economy to work for we "Small People." Federal Jobs programs that pay living wages to repair our crumbling infrastructure and rebuild the Gulf States so "Small People" can return to their homes.
Put a moratorium on foreclosures until the housing bubble can adjust to reasonable levels and restructure loans with fixed interest rates so "Small People" can pay their mortgages and the economy will "Gurgle Up" to the Congressional-Wall Street Cabal. We need to extend food stamp and unemployment benefits to pump money directly into the "Small People" economy.
Taxes need to be raised on the top one percent of wealthy people in this country that own more wealth than the bottom ninety percent combined. Taxes need to be reduced dramatically for the bottom 99%. A .25 transaction fee for the people who gamble on Wall Street must also be levied and put into the "Small People" economy for such programs as education and energy.
Regardless, if HR1424 passes or fails, every Congressperson, Democratic or Republican, who voted to sell out the "Small" Person needs to be retired and not sent back to Congress in January.
Reject fear-based politics. We "Small People" need courageous REPRESENTATIVES that will work on real solutions for us, because, as a matter of fact, we are not the "Small People," we are the sovereigns in this Republic and we need to reassert our sovereignty and show our employees in DC that we mean business.
Help me replace Nancy Pelosi in January, she has been the biggest Bush enabler of them all. She sent a very obsequious letter to George Bush this week promising him that Congress would pass a Bill for him. Not only did she not hold him accountable for the crimes he has committed while in office, she is giving him one last victory (at the expense of we "Small People") before he shamefully rides into the sunset while our Republic is burning and Nancy Pelosi plays her fiddle, obediently. George Bush is going to leave quite a mess, and this Congress has proven that they not only do not know how to clean up his messes, but they have collaborated in the orgy that made the mess.
Update: HR 1424 just passed and Congress applauded the marauding of our Republic. We "Small People" have been given a significant defeat. 237-153 Democrats: 154 yes; 58 nays Republicans: 86 yeas; 103 nays 31 Reps not voting
Update: How did your rep vote on the corporate welfare plan---Round 2
Your next ad should read as follows: "In a time of financial crisis, I stood up to Wall Street. I stood up to special interests. I stood up to predatory lenders. I stood up….and handed them a check for 700 billion dollars. More will probably follow. We had no other choice. These guys threatened to shut down the economy. I'm on your side

I was invited to the "We the People" festival in Los Angeles. I, in fact, was begged by the organizers to be there. So, we took an entire day off of the campaign and at our own expense, we traveled to L.A. We, of course are in solidarity with no-Sweatshop groups and we thought it would be a great place to connect with volunteers for our campaign.
We were treated with the greatest disrespect there and were told later that the Democratic Party funded the festival this year and was the force that forbade Cynthia and I to speak. That's very Democratic, isn't it?
First off, the Los Angeles State Historic Park is a treasure. Still known as "The Cornfield" by locals, the long, gently rolling meadow near Naud Junction is a rare spot for Angelenos to lie on our backs in the grass like the sore-used beasts we are. Municipal types deem it "world-class," and, for once, that isn't City Hall Newspeak, like the designation of the MTA as some kind of "America's Best," when the slogan "Not Significantly Faster Than Walking" would do far less violence to the truth. Still, the Gold Line was unusually merry when I stepped off it at Chinatown for the We the People festival Saturday at the park. I followed a pair of long feminine legs down winding stairs straight into a nest of LAPD, where cops eyed me with a snout-twitch of interest and one carload flipped a bitch, slowly following me a few paces before careening off after higher-profile miscreants.
There were even more cops clumped outside the gate to the fenced-off park, along with some bullet-headed event-staffer squalling "If you don't have a ticket, get off the sidewalk!" through a megaphone at pedestrians. I saw more than one patron walk away from the entrance in disgust, and the thought crossed my own mind, but I accepted two wristbands and negligently handed the other to the leggy blonde vision I'd followed in. There ensued a protracted fuckaround at the gate, as understaffed security diligently searched one patron at a time, the asshole with the megaphone kept up his bawling at random citizens, and cops with expressions of glazed happiness looked upon Utopia and found it good.
While brooding upon exactly when this kind of brute chickenshit came to be accepted as normal, I was let in, but not before a total of nine staffers, some of them standing elbow-to-elbow but oblivious, demanded to see my wristband. Once inside, one heard no more demands or, indeed, saw any more cops. Nor that many attendees, as catastrophic economic news combined with short-arm-of-the-law hijinks outside to keep fans away. Still, all was love and friendliness within, as several generations of punks clustered around Suicidal Tendencies at the main stage and the redoubtable Mike Muir riffed about our fucked-up world. There was a great deal of scalded-left rhetoric flooding from every mic and occasionally lusty cheers would go up as a performer struck a palpable hit on Dubya or McCain. At the second stage, Look Daggers went at the biz of social-protest hip-hop with great assurance, as rapper 2Mex, a tee reading "Behold a Palin Horse" taut over his belly, presided over a brilliantly ominous turn as the sun set over the downtown skyline.
I ran into my leggy friend, who told me security had clipped off the wristband I'd given her, with a "This doesn't belong to you!" We stood and watched Wu-Tang's RZA unlimber the loose and funky set I'd come to this gulag to see, the star charging through with James Brownian flash and brio. Despite good vibes and congenial people, the Potemkin Village atmosphere gave me the unambiguous creeps and I drifted toward the train and a party in the Warehouse District well before the 11 p.m. closing.
After the show ended, there was a flurry of rumors that some authority or other had forbidden Rep. Cynthia McKinney, antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan and others to address the festival. In the hours remaining until deadline, I spoke to numerous people who blamed police, the Mayor's Office and/or festival organizers Project Sweatshop for this undemocratic lapse. Repeated efforts to contact the Mayor's Office and festival organizers were turned away, but Cindy Sheehan's campaign office, after bugging by me, did release the following angry, if diplomatically worded, statement: "The Cindy for Congress campaign is deeply disappointed that we were invited to speak during this weekend's 'We The People' event in Los Angeles, but were then turned away." Yes, but by whom? "The event organizers," the release continued, "have apologized to us and we have accepted their apology, but we remain concerned that so many voices were silenced with no explanation, no notice, and no due process."

In response to the bipartisan "done deal" of the Wall Street bailout plan, Cindy for Congress is calling for another non-partisan protest in front of the Federal Reserve Bank: 101 Market (corner of Market and Stearns) at 4pm on Monday, September 29th.Last Thursday, we had a very energetic protest of about 250 activists who were: Democratic, Republican, Green, Libertarian, Peace and Freedom, and decline to states who were saying the same thing: NO CORPORATE WELFARE: HEY NANCY, BAIL US OUT!
The new corrupt deal that the Democrats and Republicans in DC have cobbled together to rob each and every American to pay for corporate excess contains little or no protection for working Americans to recoup our losses under this criminal regime. They are using our hard earned money from our hard-worked labor to rescue corporate pirates who have been living large during the bubble: and when their artificial bubble bursts, We the People are left picking up the pieces FOR THEM! Almost 100% of America (according to some polls) do not want this bailout to happen, yet Pelosi and her crew are again caving into BushCo to our detriment!
Tired of being trickled on by the fatcats' trickle down economics?
Please make yourself heard at the Federal Reserve! Tomorrow, bring pots and pans and other noisemakers!
