fortune cookies

i am in seattle washington today and i all ive been thinking about is the next circa album. cant begin to explain how lucky i feel to be able to be this musical free at this point in my life- playing my solo songs is so much fun and it allows me the comfort and freedom to do pretty much anything i can think of, but one thing ive learned playing with these songs is that you can produce that same type of comfort and exciting freedom any wear you want. nothing has ever made me felt like i feel on stage with circa, even just being in the same room with them is magical. the rough ideas the band had left the last album with coupled with the new ideas that have recently been conceived have me at a complete loss for words. now...its just a matter of time. i will do my best to check in more often and we will need you to do the same. this transition is going to be tricky , im not even sure how its all going to pan out. i just know its going to take all of us, even you reading this,to challenge yourself little bit. hahah----usually when writing i think of giving birth, i would compare the writing of the album to giving birth, but for this one im going to think about like we're building a house. this was inspired by some who posted recently on our website, so thank you caroline. this album is going to be the most important thing ill ever do. until i built a house and have a baby in it i suppose

Saturday Sept 4th at 8:00pm, SPIN Magazine and Housing Works host an evening of music and literature with a reading by author Augusten Burroughs (Running With Scissors; A Wolf at the Table) and performance by musician Tegan Quin (Tegan and Sara) to highlight the mutual effects of music and literature and celebrate the SPIN Book Club, an eclectic collection of literary-minded musicians who hope to foster a love of reading amongst music fans.

The evening will also feature a performance by musician Colin Frangicetto (Circa Survive) and readings by musicians Elizabeth Seward (Spelling & Grammar) and Stephen Christian (Anberlin), who recently published his first novel The Orphaned Anythings. All proceeds from the event will support Housing Works, which serves homeless New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS.

SWEET SUCCESS!
Current mood: thankful
Category: News and Politics

Siren Records has reopened it's doors!

One of the happiest days in quite a while was this past thursday when I was able to walk through the doors that we're bolted shut for the past 3 weeks. We're not completely out of the woods yet as the store is still dealing with legal and moving expenses but the worst is over.

EVERYONE WHO HELPED, GIVE YOURSELF A PAT ON THE BACK!

with that said we still have a few of the limited shirts John Gourley did for us and we will still be releasing Drew of Dredg's shirt hopefully this week. we will be leaving the b-side up for download until Siren moves into their new location on september 1st.
thanks again everyone, it just shows what is truly possible with love and positivity.

this is the letter Siren sent out to their mailing list.

"Hello.
This morning, Thursday, July 17, we re-opened our doors, thanks to all of the help from our good friends and loyal customers. The plan is to stay here in our current location until the beginning of September and then move to a location right around the corner (and onto ground level again).

Thanks again for all of your support, both emotionally and financially. We really couldn't have done this without all of you. It restores one's faith in mankind and makes all of us feel like we're in a Frank Capra film. Keep an eye out for more blogs, bulletins and emails containing updates on our progress and news of sales and specials.

Sincerely,
Siren Records"
