the zone way of life
Current mood: jedi
Category: Food and Restaurants

i've composed this blog about a way of eating called the zone diet. I was never a big dieter.. but after doing the zone for a few months now I have lost two pant sizes and everything is getting more defined by the day. I've eliminated most sugars and have greatly increased the amount of veggies I have every day. In doing so my body has bagun burning the fat i've accumulated through the years. its a simple formula... veggies take more energy to digest than breads and potatoes. Changing this way of eating has given me large amounts of energy as well. much more than what I had in the past. The idea behind it is about keeping the amounts of carbs(mostly complex carbs like veggies), fats, and proteins in a balanced value. In doing so my insulin levels don't spike in either direction.. keeping my insulin in check has become a vital part of my life. Im eating almost double the amount of food I used to in five meals throughout the day. three big ones and two snacks... by keeping the meals and snacks in balance I am burning fat off. If you are at all interested in losing weight, check out the zone diet.. google it. It will change your life for the better. it did for me.

Thanks kirsh

pandora radio
Current mood: amused
Category: Music

hey guys i'm blogging this small blurb about pandora radio. If you get a chance to check it out you will not be dissapointed. It's a free service that is part of the music genome project. you get up to 100 channels of music that you like. for example.. say you like dave mathews. pandora makes a dave mathews channel. it then plays music with the same style of instruments and ryrhym as dave mathews and as it plays this new music ask's you weather or not you like it.. it learns which music and type of music you'd like to hear based on the continuing choices you make. you can do this with up to 100 channels for free and there is a quickmix feature that shuffles between channels. if you like music and are online, this website is phenomenal! check it people, you won't be disapointed..

the point of it all

Did you ever stop and wonder what the point of everything is? It's easy to say to find a spouse, raise a family. Outside of that though why do we exist? We consume every natural resource we encounter. We standardize everything we create. We abandon creativity for greater profit. All for surviving... for making our bank accounts bigger. To afford more "stuff". Better clothes, newer car, better furniture... more more more. We continue to pursue goals of carnal and commercial-istic fervor. Large corporations grow and small ones are swallowed up in a nature mirroring world. It isnt much of surprise that we mirror nature, in our professions and lifestyles. the company's we work for are much like the living organisms that exist all around us. Sometimes small and more specific beats out big and spread out. So we copy nature, because there is no other "cliff notes" for us to follow. People theorize why we are here. That a super-being created us, or super-beings is not the question. It is really just another distraction from the ultimate question. The question of why we are here. We we even exist. Beyond our need for survival that is fueled by hormones and lust. Beyond the distractions of the bigger bank account and keeping up with the jones's. To steal this from the matrix we are like a virus.. we consume everything and move on. and each one of us is fighting for survival. Clawing to the top of a hill of monetary and spiritual and physical goo-i-ness. Just to be one of the species to pass along our genes to the collective. In every story you read as a child, the "good guy" wins. That in itself is the biggest distraction there is about why we are here. The paradox between what is good and evil. Perhaps its better to have that as a distraction. We keep "evolving" but for what? We know that soon this planet will be vaporized when our sun runs out of gas and then the remnants of our particles will be sucked into a wormhole and maybe spit out the other side of some forming universe, where maybe im not concerned about why we exist.. one can only hope. That will only happen if we don't trash the planet enough so we can't exist. If that doesn't kill us maybe a big friggin rock will crash into us. Or worse yet we become slaves to some other species that got a full house in their genes when we only got two pair. I wonder if people even think about these things. Or do people just try and not think about it and try to not think at all by watching tv. TV is, I admit, one of my addictions.

to be continued... another one of hollywoods finest has sucked me back into the who gives a fuck attitude.

Crossfit
Current mood: thankful
Category: Life

Did you ever find anything out a long time after you needed to know? Have you regretted not trying things when you were young because you were too stubborn and stunner-ish to try something different than your comfort zone? I did that with fitness. Specifically lifting. When I was younger I believed that people are stuck with whatever genes we get and there is no changing that. I figured the best way to stay in shape was to do tons of cardio. so in high school I joined the wrestling team because everyone i knew on the team was in good shape and always talked about the crazy workouts. It was a great regiment probably one of the best regiments ive ever been on. So for three years I trained. in off seasons I had to do something so I played soccer and basketball. that got old and I needed more cardio. So, I then proceeded to do many many miles on bikes for years riding.. sometimes averaging 20-30 miles a day. After working up to a 40 or so a couple times a week and 20 a minimum on other days. On my rest days I would play soccer for a few hours(sometimes biking to and from there). My fitness level was great. So I though. After a year in college I started doing mixed martial arts on the varsity team. That was a good amount of plyometric training and a day or so lifting. 5 days a week we trained and on off days and other non-hard days i played pickup games of soccer and basketball. So at the first year.. i know im jumping around.. a few of my friends were working on a petition.. since i spent almost all of my free time in the gym and worked work study there. They asked me and a few other athletes to sign a petition to start a cross country team. id jogged and worked out in high school with the cross country team but I never really tried to run longer than a couple miles until i signed the petition.. although i'd biked 170 miles in two days. you cant compare them. Running was and still is the hardest workout ive had. It works every one of your muscles. For me it was like heroin... the biking unlocked some of the elusive "runner's high" that people talk about. but running got me completely hooked. I got hooked. I had to run 6 days a week i was logging at least three miles a day. on long days i did 10-12 miles. but most of the time it was 4-5 miles. there was speed workouts, repeats, fartlek, hill workouts, tempo runs, slow distance, slow prerace pace. then there was racing. usually five mile races but sometimes 3.1 miles. one of the five mile races i ran barefoot.. one of the hardest things ive ever done. i kicked off my shoes a couple tenths in and threw them to babe. I moved on after running and running, I lost my motivation to run, like writers block i couldn't run to save my life. I fell into a deep depression. became obsessed with other things. hit an all time low in my life. did things i regret, spent time in places that i never want to be again. Through many highs and low's I found fitness again. With the help of my friends. for years when I was running. I tried to get my friend eric into what I was into. he always went hiking but never got into running. years later, it was he who got me back into working out. for a couple years I tried lifting weights. for a while i was convinced that that was what I needed to do to get into shape like all the happy in shape people we obsess about who grace our idiot boxes. then eric, who became obsessed with fitness... my pal eric who didnt want to go for a run, became obsessed. his obsession, made him spend hours on the internet looking for new ways to get healthy and in shape. about a year ago he became obsessed with a new thing. he kept telling me to give it a try.. that it was better than lifting. it was a combination of cardio and lifting. eric had changed in a few months. he completely changed himself. Since the first workout ive done, I have been forever changed. Its given me a different look on life and what is possible. I dont look at things anymore like they have limits. Ive always been fascinated by people who can go beyond what other people think they can. I never though I would be one of them. going forward crossfit is the standard. it makes all the other things I used to struggle with easier. I put this blog under life because it has changed mine. Its a free service that is provided and used by a great number of worldclass athletes and the men and women whom protect and serve our communities and our country. if you get a chance look it up. it could change you. Thanks kirsh. Crossfit.com people.

5/4
Current mood: indescribable
Category: Romance and Relationships

I know you will be great in everything you do. I hope that you found happiness like I found with you. I tried to get out of your way tg. I miss you everyday. good and bad. corny and goofy. I could have died the other day, I felt my mortality, for the first time. I thought about whether or not you would go to my funeral if they found me ever. you were right, thus far. nothing has compared to us. i'll keep on trying though.

we had nirvana highs and lowest low's. i dunno if i'll find it again. as far as I know we only get one chance at this life. I wish things were different with us. maybe someday. we'll see each other passing on the street. and you wont recognise me at first. and i wont recognise you. maybe in another life we were meant to work and live happily ever after.

I will always love you. some days i wish i never met you, but I don't regret what we shared in any way. I dunno if you'll read this or if other people will. if they do I don't care. I won't be embarassed for what we had and the feelings we felt. I need to say goodbye. have a great life babe. I wish you all the happiness you can find.
