If I Wrote You a Poem

by: Jasmine Lynetta

If I wrote you a poem,

What would you say?

Would you tear it up,

And throw it away?

Or would you read each word,

Each piece, each part,

And realize it came

straight from my heart?

Would you call me up,

For me to break it down?

Or would you think it's TOO deep,

Laugh it off, or frown?

Well, here's a poem,

That's just for you.

I hope it does

What I want it to.

And that's to show how special

You are under the sun,

For I don't do this,

for just ANY one.

Stop to Think
by: Jasmine Lynetta

Stop to think---
about the road you choose my friend.
Life's a chess game,
that seems to have no end.

If you checkmate yourself,
you'll have nowhere to run.
So you'd better stop to think,
before your life is done.

If those ponies start to ride,
and they do their little "L",
your king you'd best to hide,
or you will surely yell.

Oh no! Watch out!
Now they're coming for your queen!
Take a moment, stop to think,
and you can change that scene.

When life's game has you surrounded,
and it's pawns are all about you,
if you don't stop to think,
then my friend, your life is through.

Don't Fade to Black

by: Jasmine Lynetta

Don't just fade to black when you die,
learn your REASON for living. Find out why.

You were put here for a special purpose on
earth.
Don't leave here never knowing your life's
true worth.

Some are here to lead, and others to assist.
Whatever you are here for, find out WHY you
exist.

We'll experience joy, we'll experience pain.
But we can't let our living be in vain.

Find your true purpose, and live your life that
way.
Don't just fade to black and go away.

I Take Out My Pen to Write

by: Jasmine Lynetta

Thoughts and words take on a blurry view, ....

As I collect myself , to write a poem for you.....

I think of the dream I had last night, ....

But no, that's TOO steamy. That isn't right.....

I think of words, used to describe you, ....

But now it seems as though, ....

Those words won't do. ....

But yet…I take out my pen to write.....

To the one I adore, each day I love you more,

For you light up every corner of my world.....

Your love sends me reeling, and I get the feeling, ....

That I must be the luckiest girl.....

.. ..

Each and every day, I hope and pray, ....

In MY arms you'll ever be.....

Each and every night, my mind takes this flight…....

And STILL it's only YOU I see.....

And yet…I take out my pen to write.....

.. ..

911

by: Jasmine Lynetta

No need to worry, no need to fuss,

Because the acronym for United States spells US.

US united in this land of the free.

US standing together, we still will be.

Why did all of those people die?

Only God knows the reasons why.

Though evil was the word of the day,

We'll turn that word the other way.

It now becomes live, so that's what we'll do,

We're still a nation under God,

And we will make it through.

Don't Forget

by: Jasmine Lynetta

Don't forget how we were,

nor how we used to be.

As we went happily about our lives,

we took for granted that we were free.

We took prayer from our schools,

and metal detectors were put in place.

But you'd have to wait for Sunday,

if you wanted to sing, "Amazing Grace".

"It's separation of church and state!"

Yes, that's how it USED to be,

but after 9-1-1,

It's now: "God Bless America" and "My Country tis of Thee".

Why did it take something like this to unite us?

How much evil must we see?

Before we realize that what we're doing now, is how

we should ALWAYS be?

So we must never, forget that eleventh day in September,

for it was the day our lives changed forever--

and one we must ALWAYS remember.

Insufficient Funds----by: Jasmine Lynetta

America's check written for fairness,
Still goes unpaid today.
It got bounced all around,
every city, every town,
"Insufficient Funds", is all they can say.

Equality doesn't get paid either,
Black America is yet in the Red.
It seems that they've all,
just let King's dream fall.
They've forgotten the words that he said.

The words NO, and NOT,
get passed around a lot,
as in, NO, there's NOT a thing we can do.
But for certain we all,
must answer God's call,
On these bills that are long past due.

Taste the Rainbow

by: Jasmine Lynetta

Yes, I want to taste the rainbow.

As I skittle through my life, and the days start to sag,

It seems like I'm living my life, inside of a Skittles bag.

Yes, I want to taste the rainbow, this fact is so true.

But believing in that pot of gold at the end, I just won't do.

As I taste the different colors, it becomes so clear to me,

that this is exactly how my life seems to be.

The colors represent the many different days,

as I try to muddle through this yellow, green and purple haze.

It's the rainbow of my life, and I'm forever chasing rainbows.

To taste the rainbow is to experience life, and I believe that's how it goes.

Befuddled, and Incited

by: Jasmine Lynetta

It befuddles and incites me,
that some think an increase in insanity,
could somehow subjugate another
to be their best.

But while they trudge through life eccentricly,
the actual reality,
is that they eradicate one's ability
to pass life's test.

We'd be in a euphoric state indeed,
if people like this could NOT succeed,
at laying heavy loads on people's backs.

Change will come, you will find,
when it is etched into their minds,
that "Sense" is something they really tend to lack.

If Only She Considered
by: Jasmine Lynetta

If only she considered, living life as she was taught,
If only she considered, for more things she would have fought.

If only she considered, even marrying such a man,
If only she had considered, she would have made a better plan.

If only she considered, having a child at such a young age,
If she had just considered, life would have turned to a better page.

If only she considered the special gift that she had,
If she had considered, life would not have gone so bad.

If only she considered, the cost she'd later pay,
If she HAD considered, she'd STILL be here today.

Beautiful Ones

by: Jasmine Lynetta

Beauty is not the latest clothes you wear,

Beauty is not the way you wear your hair.

It doesn't even matter that you have straight teeth,

For true beauty is deeper.

It is underneath.

A person could spend, the rest of their days,

Paying out money for the latest style, fashion or craze.

But if your INNER beauty doesn't rise to the top,

It's all done for nothing, and they may as well stop.

Inner beauty is more rare than diamonds or gold.

It shines much brighter,

It lasts when you are old.

I'd trade a lifetime, for just ONE day--

Of living it in a BEAUTIFUL way.
