Quinoa -- who knew? It's totally delicious! Kind of like rice and birdseed and tobiko mixed together. And it cooks as fast as pasta but is whole grain and high in protein and totally good for you. What's not to like? Well, supposedly a dreaded bitterness that comes if you don't rinse it first, but I forgot last night, and it was fine. Also, BIG PAWS to:

CLAWS: Jafran Bengal

CLAWS to Jafran Bengal on the corner of Harvard and 3rd St. trying new things is good and all, and it seemed like it might be genius (like Tacos Mexico on Glendale, which looks gross but is delicious). BUT IT'S AWFUL. greasy goat biryani -- fatty and bony and tasteless. raita is not raita at all but some sort of thin, bland, watery chutney. SPOILER ALERT -- a green bean dish that seemed spoiled. mixed vegetables were edible but again soaked in rancid oil. gross gross gross. and WEIRDLY EXPENSIVE. $14 for two. don't get taken in, or you too will find out what happens when you break your loyalty pact with halal tandoori.
