:Music News: Less than two months till the new Less Than Jake
Category: Music
June 24th! June 24th! Shout it from the rooftops! Wait.... What's June 24th? That's when ska band Less Than Jake (herein known as LTJ) will release their new album GNV FLA! GNV FLA as in Gainesville Florida, the band's home town. And the album is pumped from the sweet loins of LTJ's very own indie label Sleep It Off Records. In March, the label re-released four of the band's early titles with expanded DVD content - Pezcore; Goodbye, Blue & White; Losers, Kings and Things We Don't Understand and the DVD The People's History of Less Than Jake. Ever satiating their most loyal fans, the band's sound has not changed over the years (and it HAS been YEARS!). With their own label, they are able to cater to themselves and their fans the way they always have. They are still all about the fun ska beats, rock n' roll guitar riffs, and spitfire vocals. And all in spite of the fun, the record not only has a lot to say about Ginesville, FL, but about all struggling people in small towns all over the country. Just goes to show that even ska has ideals. LTJ will be doing a mini tour that ends at The Bamboozle on May 3rd at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ. (I thought they were Never Going Back to NJ.....hmmmm.) On June 17th they are starting the SHOUT IT LOUD tour to promote GNV FLA. On the tour, you will also enjoy the audible magic of Goldfinger, Suburban Legends, Mustard Plug and Big D and The Kids Table. They may also be some others along the way. Dust off your chain wallet, and check it out Rude Boy. Tour Dates: Apr 30 Rocketown Nashville, TN May 01 Lincoln Theatre Raleigh, NC May 03 Bamboozle East Rutherford, NJ May 05 "Cinco de Mustache" @ Valarium Knoxville, TN May 06 The Music Farm Charleston, SC Jun 17 Jannus Landing St. Petersburg, FL Jun 18 Revolution Ft. :Music News: Guess whos back, Tantric’s back!
Category: Music
Remember the band Tantric? We first heard of them way back in 2001 with their debut single "Breakdown" off the album Tantric. They had another album in 2004 called After We Go but it unfortunately did not make the impact that their first album did. Well, they be back! And badder (that's the hard rock way to say GOOD) than ever! The new album The End Begins is in stores now and it is said that the 11 new tracks have a very unique sound. On a track called "The One" there is even guest vocals by former Candlebox frontman Kevin Martin (Yup...dug him up too). Upcoming Tantric Dates: w/Framing Hanley & Fosterchild Apr 23 2008 Modesto, CA Fat Cat Music House and Lounge Apr 24 2008 Los Angeles, CA Key Club Apr 26 2008 Santa Rosa, CA Last Day Saloon w/ 101.7 the Fox Apr 28 2008 Everywhere, WA ROCKLINE radio show Apr 29 2008 Spokane, WA The Big Easy Apr 30 2008 Boise, ID The Big Easy May 2 2008 CO Springs, CO The Black Sheep May 4 2008 Cedar Falls, IO The Reverb May 5 2008 Maplewood, MN The Rock May 7 2008 Madison, WI The Annex May 8 2008 Milwaukee, WI The Eagles Club May 9 2008 Detroit, MI St. Andrew;s Hall w/WRIF May 10 2008 Palatine, IL Durty Nellie's May 13 2008 Indianapolis, IN Vogue Theater May 14 2008 Ft. :Music News: The Birthday Massacre are out of the dark...
The Birthday Massacre (TBM) are set to release their new EP Looking Glass on May 6th, and it looks promising that it will be their best work yet in their eight years together. The 80s revival rock-tronica group are kicking off a national tour with Mindless Self Indulgence on April 29th in Cleveland and so far, runs into the end of June. Refusing to kowtow to the mainstream, TBM has stayed true to their sound and remained happily underground for quite some time. Consequentially, the mainstream conformed to them. Guitarist Michael Falcore is quoted to say, "We've been underground for so long that it has become our element. Every band has to carve their own niche nowadays. We've already done that, so I guess we're lucky in that way. We cater to our fans directly and that's the way we've always done it. We've never know any other way." TBM has already released a video for the title track of Looking Glass on their MySpace as well as for current tour dates and cities. You can also pre-order your copy of the Looking Glass EP. Check out thebirthdaymassacre.com for more info and while you're at it, why don't you drop by the COMA-online.com and read COMA's exclusive interview with TBM! You have no excuse to be in the dark about them any longer!

:Music News: The A.K.A.s (Are a bunch of Punks and coming to a town near you!)
Category: Music
Oi to the world!!! Punk band The AKAs (Are Everywhere!) are touring with The Phenomenauts in honor of their hot-off-the-presses 12 track album Everybody Make Some Noise! Talk about street cred... The band actually landed Dead Kennedy's legendary frontman Jello Biafra (who seems always down to help out the new generation of punk) to do a track intro, as well as guest vox from Chris 2 from Anti-Flag and JT from Hawthorne Heights. How does THAT stir your "punker-than-thou" Kool Aid? The album is produced by Alex Newport who also produced At The Drive-In and The Mars Volta, so we do assume he knows what he is doing. Rumor has it that the band actually helped him build a new studio. "We gutted, scraped, painted, hammered, and hauled enough to satisfy the most merciless of cynics. Doesn't everybody love to see a band dehumanized?!" says Newport of The AKAs handywork. Sounds like these kids are a humble bunch. Very refreshing for the next big thing, no? "While other bands are busy writing music just to get laid, paid, or played on the radio, we challenged ourselves and everyone else to be fearless, fierce, and have fun... finding your voice and using it to live out loud." Fuckin' A-right, man.
As of now - Tour dates: The A.K.A.s (Are Everywhere!) On Tour w/ The Phenomenauts Apr 18 Satyricon Portland, OR Apr 19 Studio Seven Seattle, WA Apr 21 Burt's Tiki Lounge Salt Lake City, UT Apr 22 Marquis Theatre Boulder, CO Apr 23 Knickerbocker's Lincoln, NE Apr 24 Triple Rock Minneapolis, MN Apr 25 Reggie's Rock Club Chicago, IL Apr 26 Mac's Bar Lansing, MI Apr 27 Poison Room Cincinnati, OH Apr 28 Beachland Tavern Cleveland, OH Apr 30 Middle East – Up Cambridge, MA May 01 Knitting Factory New York, NY May 02 Asbury Lanes Asbury Park, NJ May 04 The Ottobar Baltimore, MD May 06 Steppin Out Virginia Beach, VA May 08 Jack Rabbit's Jacksonville, FL May 09 Backbooth Orlando, FL May 10 City Limits Delray Beach, FL May 12 The Beta Bar Tallahassee, FL May 15 Walter's On Washington Houston, TX May 16 Red 7 Austin, TX May 17 Rock Bottom San Antonio, TX May 20 Brickhouse Theatre Phoenix, AZ May 21 Jillian's Las Vegas, NV May 23 Knitting Factory Los Angeles, CA May 24 Phoenix Theatre Petaluma, CA Find out more and keep up with it: The A.K.A.s Official Website and their MySpace.
