New HoTrash - Songs about fucking.
Category: Blogging
Sorry, was my title a bit much? Dubsever.
Fancy a filthy sing-along?
While most of us tend to think of rock stars as puritanical virgins who never even think about sex, it seems Courtney Enlow has uncovered a shocking secret - many popular songs are secretly about sex. This week, Enlow shares five songs that are secretly dirty; so dirty that you will need a cigarette the next time you hear them.

New Outside of the In-Crowd - Having an Average Thursday, aka Hero Worship
Category: Blogging
Being outside of the in-crowd doesn't keep Courtney Enlow from engaging in hero worship, but it does make her more selective when choosing a celebrity to look up to. Enlow focuses her admiration on people like the Kids in the Hall, who she recently worshiped in person after a live show.

And PS all y'all, I WILL be covering the San Diego Comic Con International next month, which will include the Mystery Science Theater 3000 full cast panel and a Rifftrax Live Show! (speaking of which, look forward to a non-HoTrash blog soon regarding my stint writing for Bill Corbett and Mary Jo Pehl!)

Challenge: Discuss the concept of a "Quarter Life Crisis" without sounding like Zach Braff
Category: Blogging
This week, Courtney Enlow has set a challenge for herself: Discuss the concept of a "Quarter Life Crisis" without sounding too much like John Mayer or Zach Braff. Does Enlow succeed at this lofty goal or does her entire column collapse into a Garden State-esque affair? You'll have to read her column to find out.

Did movies completely fuck up your views of love? Me too.
Category: Blogging
Movie romances are often not based in reality. For example, in a movie it's considered romantic to stand outside of someone's window holding a boombox, but in real life it's considered stalking. So this week, Courtney Enlow takes a look at five romantic scenes from 80s movies that created unrealistic expectations for women.

Belated birthday blog. (I love balliteration. And ballin’.)
Category: Blogging
Word for totes.
Oh hi! It's been a while since I've done one of these without a link embedded somewhere. I feel kind of... vulnerable... *gulp*

Ahhh. Allegra.
That's better. So thanks again for birthday wishes, even those that didn't mandate a message or comment. Ones sent with one's mind were equally appreciated and pretty scary actually because you never see them coming. Craziness.
My party was last Saturday and the theme was The 90s. My favorite decade. Capri Sun, Bugles, Doritos, Gushers, and Fruit Roll-Ups were involved. It was pretty intense. I spent hours perfecting my playlist and I am proud to say that it was absolute unadalterated blissful 90s genius, thankyouverymuch. I win. The night culminated with a big singalong of all my friends erupting in "Kiss From a Rose." Seal would have been proud.

Above: Me and my friend Kelly, who was dressed as Someone's Fancy Mom.
Kelly, in addition to the wonder she's wearing in the above, purchased a floral dress that Your Writer would have literally worn every day in 1994.

Above: The most beautiful dress in the world.
Now I currently have nowhere to wear such a stunning gown. So I did the next best thing.

Above: The fate of the most beautiful dress in the world.
So the party was intensely fun. On my actual birthday, Boyfriend took me to Zed 451, a Brazillian steakhouse in Naperville and it was goooood. Like seriously. I can absolutely get behind any eating establishment whose sole purpose is to bring you meat. Then my momela came up this past weekend and we ate and shopped. I love when people from back home come up because the destination is always The Cheesecake Factory, a place I never go unless I have out-of-towners with me, and dammit, I love it. For dinner we ate at Rosebud and then watched "Enchanted" at our hotel. Dear Christ I loved that movie. My icy bitch heart was so warmed.
My birthday finally culminated last night in cocktails with work people (and truffle fries. Yum.)
The best part of my birthday-time was having three four-day weeks in a row at the office. Oh jeez, that was lovely. I need more of those. ASAP.

Tied to the 90s
Category: Blogging
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes you beautiful people of the world! You're just wonderful. Let no one tell you otherwise.
I'm going to write a long blog about my party, worry not. But for the time being, Birthday me has something to say.

And that something is "look at my goddamn tights." They're spectacular. Quita (on the left) also has something to say. And it's "I'm a slutty chola version of Clueless!" Seriously, thanks so much for all the love and I love you right back.
Hey so guess what. New column!
"Outside of the In-Crowd - Tied to the 90s With only two years left in the current decade, Courtney Enlow can't help but think of "the 2000s" (or the "nillies" or "aughties") as a big disappointment. She longs for a simpler time - a time of flannel shirts and primary-colored geometric shapes. Enlow misses the 90s and this week she pays tribute to the unique decade."
