Time for a Change.
I've been here in Cali for 4 months now.
I haven't made any friends of my own.
This is a problem.
I'm drinking more now than I ever have.
This is a problem.
I still haven't gotten a job, and my savings won't last forever.
This is a problem.
It's time for a change.
I'm going to take control of things now. I've let them get away from me, and while I'm doing great in school, my life is relatively empty. Like I said, I haven't made any new friends. I hang out with my roommates, and even that is dwindling. I sit here and wonder where they go sometimes, and why I wasn't invited. I keep expecting them to introduce me to new people, because that's the way things have always worked in the past for me. I've come to realize that unless I make the effort, I won't make friends. I have people that I talk to in classes, but there's no sense of "Hey, let's go do something after class." I keep expecting someone else to make the first step, instead of taking it upon myself. I'm going to be very lonely if I keep this up.
My drinking, while not out of hand, is not where I want it to be. A couple drinks once in a while is ok, like at a social gathering, or at a club, but not when you're sitting at home alone, on the computer. I started out having a single beer or mixed drink every few nights, but more and more, it's 2 a night. I don't like where this is heading, and I have to step in. If I fix it now, I can save myself from trouble later. The only good thing I can say about this is that I'm not driving while doing so. I learned my lesson on that one. I don't want to end up an alcoholic, so I have to change it now. I'm not going to completely stop drinking, as there are good occaisions to enjoy a drink, but not when I'm alone.
The fact that I have waited even this long to get a job makes me angry with myself. I told myself I was only going to wait a month after classes started, and then get a job. I would only need a month to adjust, and then I could start earning money again. It's 4 goddamn months later, and I haven't even really looked at getting a job. I've scoped some places out, and haflheartedly submitted application to a couple, but I didn't follow up. By the time I realized I really needed to get a job, it was too late. Classes were ending in 3 weeks, and it's really shitty to tell your employer "Yeah, these are my hours now, but in 3 weeks, they'll be completely different since the semester is changing." My student loans aren't going to pay themselves back, and if I can get a head start on them, I'll be much better off.
So, I'm taking ahold of my life in these next 2 weeks. I'm going to Vegas next week, and I'm going to have fun with my family. When I come back, I'm changing things in my life. I'm going to cut back on drinking, I'm going to go out and get a job, and most importantly, I'm going to actively try and make friends. I'm going to get out from in front of the computer, and go see more of what California has to offer. I've sat in my room and let shit just happen to me, it's time to go and and MAKE things happen.
I will make things better. I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Pianists
I've come to a conclusion.
I don't care what band you are in or how you look.
You cannot rock out while playing the piano. It just looks funny.

The Latest
Welps, been over 4 months since I've done a blog. I'm past due, so here we go!
Been in California for about 2 months now. It's been great.
Short Story for now I turned up here (for those of you who haven't heard it).
Back in July, I had decided that I was going back to school. The following 2 months were spent deciding what school.
After talking to my buddy Kurt, I had decided upon DeVry Unviersity. They were accreditied, so my WWCC credits would transfer over (that was very important).
Alright, so, now I know which school.....but what location? DeVry is all over! I dunno where the hell to go.
Well, there's one out in Fremont, CA, which was close to where Kurt was living at the time (Campbell, CA). Based on the fact that I knew someone in the area, and it was far enough away from Wyoming, I decided upon Fremont.
Fast forward a couple months, to September. I take a trip out to California to hang with Kurt and check out the school, as well as hang with some people I knows from the internets. School is great, looks good. But ohh shit, Kurt is getting kicked out of his apartment (not his fault, bitchass landlord is a whore). Well, we look at an apartment in Fremont, because that's closer to his job, and Fremont is a much better place than Campbell. Kurt informs me that they're willing to move into this new apartment if I move in with them as a roommate. I agree. It's cheaper then living in the dorms, and that's important.
Next month.....I get a DUI. Ohh fuck. This sets me back, both in funds and time. I was supposed to begin classes during the start of the new year. My DUI won't let me leave town till *gasp* February. (There's a lot more shit involved in my DUI than I'll explain, but yeah, it screwed things over.) So, I'm not able to move out to California until February. Things actually worked out for the best, as I was able to save up a ton more money for school within the next couple of months. I also don't think I was ready to move mentally at that time.
So, February comes, and I quit my job and move out here. That happened on the 28th. I thought I'd have a week off to relax and accommodate to my surroundings before my classes began, but I was wrong. I misunderstood the system, and classes began that following Monday. I was lucky to get through registration and able to join classes by that Wednesday, only missing 2 of my classes.
After that, classes went fine. I've actually already finished my first 2 as of this past week, and my next 2 start next week. I did great, high A's in both, and I don't plan on changing that anytime soon.
Unfortunately, I have to get a job soon. I've still got quite a bit of money in the bank, but I want to be able to use that once I graduate, instead of living off it this whole time during school. So, I've gone 2 months being unemployed. It's nice, in a way. I get all my schoolwork done easily, but I get bored during the day, when class is over, and I've nothing else to do. I wish I had enough to live off of for the next 2.5 years during school, but alas, I do not. I need some income.
Outside of school, I've seen some cool places. So far, I've seen the Monterey Bay Aquarium, seen a little bit of San Francisco, went to a Rock Band party down in Santa Cruz, and overall, have had a pretty good time out here. I've also been able to work out 3 times a week. It's great, and I feel good afterward. Dunno how much that'll keep up once I get a job though.
Still need to meet more people though. I have a problem with that. I need to change it.
Overall: California = Win.

2007: A year in review.
So, I'm taking this as a template from Dave, who took it from Brad, who took it from some other person I could give a flying fuck about, but I digress...
2007 Awards
1) DRINKING BUDDY OF THE YEAR: Joe. Hands down.
2) LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD (longest friend) None. Everyone of my friends has let me down at least once this past year. I take that back, Kurt hasn't let me down, but I haven't known him as long as some others.
3) NEWCOMER AWARD - NEWEST FRIEND? Bulge.
3) HIGH POINT OF THE YEAR? There was a high point?
4) LOW POINT OF THE YEAR? My DUI, which it turn had led to me staying an extra 2 months in this town.
5) BEST HOLIDAY? St. Patty's Day, because Vegas was awesome, and the people I hung out with were cool.
6) YOUR SONG FOR 2007? Every Man Has A Molly - Say Anything
7) MOVIE FOR 2007? Hrrrmmmm. 300 was awesome, so I guess I'll stick with that.
8) MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT FOR 2007? An event that happened in late June/early July.
9) BEST LAUGH FOR 2007? There was no "best" laugh. I had lots of laughs, but no single laugh sticks out in my mind.
10) WHO DID YOU SPEND VALENTINES WITH? My mother fucking self.
11) BEST RELATIONSHIP? Fuck relationships.
12) WHAT WERE YOU FOR HALLOWEEN In jail. Although technically it wasn't quite Halloween yet. Officially: nothing.
13) RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR? Bonzai. Still love sushi.
14) BOOK OF THE YEAR? Tie here: Knife of Dreams by Robert Jordan, or A Feast for Crows, by George Martin.
15) BEST DECISION MADE THIS YEAR? To go back to school, outside of Wyoming.
16) WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR? Furthering my education.
17) MOST STUPID IDEA WHEN DRUNK? I think I'd be stupid to NOT say driving, even though my DUI was under bullshit terms.
18) TV SHOW OF THE YEAR? Don't watch TV.
19) MOST LOYAL FRIEND(S)? Kurt, and Joe. Like I said, the rest have let me down at some point in time this year.
20) BIGGEST CHANGE OF THE YEAR? It involves my hair, on 2 separate occaisions.
21) BIGGEST INFLUENCE AWARD? Joe, Kurt, Bulge.
22) NEW YEAR RESOLUTION? Fuck resolutions, they don't work for me.
addtional notes on 2007:
It was gay, and if I could go through my life never having another year like this, I might die not unhappy. There were only 3 truly redeeming events, but even those aren't enough to make up for the rest of this shitty year.

Warped Tour!
Holy shit, it was awesome.
Only really watched the full show of 4 bands, but there were plenty of others that I caught decent chunks of.
The Matches, Pepper, Chiodos, and Killswitch Engage fucking ROCKED. Unf. Pepper and The Matches especially.
It was also really fucking hot. I spent quite a bit of money on drink to keep me cool.
Good weekend.

My Vegas weekend...
...FUCKING ROCKED. (technically it's still rocking, since I'm still here waiting for my car window to get fixed. More on that later.) Sweet jeebus, do I love Vegas. Weather is perfect right now, isn't hot yet, just nice and sun-baked warm during the day, and a great residual heat during the night that keeps you comfortable. Nice change from the cold of Rock Springs. I hung out with some awesome people this weekend. Dave, Rahnee, Mike, Salli, and Adam, you guys are great. I'm truly glad that I came down here to meet up with all of you. Fun times, lots of laughs, and great memories. And the food, my god. Well worth it. Thanks for letting me tag along. And major kudos to Adam for throwing us a BBQ, driving us around, and overall putting up with our shenanigans. I've pretty much broke even on gambling for the weekend, and that's not bad. Hell, I might actually be $20 or so ahead. Maybe. Thanks to Mike for getting me into Let It Ride. That was a sweet game, and I'll definitely be playing it again when I come back down. Don't know when that'll actually be, but it'll happen eventually. Slots were surprisingly good to me. Hurray for the Wheel of Fortune spin jackpot. Nothing like winning $250 when you only spent $20 on the machine. To anyone going down to Vegas: If you like Sushi/Sashimi, and you're willing to fork out some money, hit up Shibuya in the MGM Grand. Excellent food, and the sake was damn good. Ugh, there was so much shit to do down there (like always). We checked out a great Stand Up show (Improv 4tw), ate awesome food (a la Flavors and Shibuya, and Adam's BBQ kicked ass), gambled (mostly in the Venetian; nice place, that be), and last but not least, we consumed alcohol (some more than others, muahahaha. Thanks for the entertainment, Salli ). And now the bad news. While we were out having fun Saturay night, some fuckwad(s) broke into my car while it was parked in the Imperial Palace garage. They smashed my front passenger window, stole my Sirius receiver, and 2 cases of CD's. Alright here we go: Front Passenger Window broke ($160ish repair, not too bad) Sirius Receiver: $150 2 cases of CD's: $1200-$1300 (might actually be less, I do have quite a few burned CD's) Yeah, that's right, I got robbed of around $1400 of shit. Not cool. The strange thing: I'm not all that upset about it. The Sirius will get replaced (and the insurance is actually going to cover it, yay!) and ever since getting Sirius, my CD usage has plummeted. And with the internet now days, I'll easily get my collection back up in probably less than a month's time. I just have to remember what I had. Hurray for keeping the original cases! I did laugh though. The fuckers had tried to get my stereo as well, but either they ran out of time, or my stereo WTFpwned them. So luckily I will still have music on the trip home. They did leave me with my 3rd CD case (I'm not sure why, but as Dave and Mike pointed out, my music must suck that bad) so I still have that to go on. I was supposed to take off this morning. I had scheduled a guy to get out here and fix my window by 10:00 this morning, but he won't be able to get out here until the afternoon. Depending on how late that actually is, it would make it a bit late for me to take off and drive 8+ hours back home. So I'm just going to stay overnight at my Uncle's and take off in the morning, thus giving me a recuperation day. I'm all set on bells and whistles for a while. Anyway, that's it. Continue on with you regularly scheduled life.

My Birthday Week...Birthweek? I don't know what the fuck to call it.
Wooo, it's been a good week. And here I thought it was going to be dull. Misty and Josh: your timing was perfect, I'm glad I was able to hang out with you guys this week, and thanks for the gift. I'll put it to excellent use on some books. You guys rock, and rock hard. Wednesday night was a blast. It's a shame you guys have to leave, and I'm saaaaad. But we'll see each other again down the road. That's a priority of mine. And of course, there's always WoW. Joe: thanks for dinner Monday night. You are a man among men. And if you're serious about getting a place in town, I'm down for it. Just find something decent and not too expensive . To everyone who wished me a happy birthday: Thanks, you're all cool in my book. At least a little bit. To everyone who completely missed/ignored my birthday: What the hell is wrong with you? You just lost cool points. Ahhh, first night inside since...last week. It feels somewhat weird, and I'm almost bored. I'm also VERY happy to have my tires fixed and have a driveable vehicle. I won't be making a mistake like that again. Once again, to those I hung out with this past week, you're all hardcore kickass.

I am a Sad Panda
Current mood: sad
So, the power went out last night. No big deal, happens every once in a while. The sad part: it killed my computer's Power Supply. My surge protector seems to have done nothing to save it (fucker) So, Dave is going to order a new one (<3 you Dave) and in the meantime, I'm using my old and horribly slooooowwww Dell Computer. It's sooooo slllooooooowwwww. I want to cry. That is all.

Spring Break is over...
Current mood: depressed
...and it rocked. I went down to Las Vegas with my sister Rena, her husband Jr, and their kid Eian for the break. We drove down there Tuesday, and came back Saturday. I had a great fucking time. We stayed with my uncle and grandma who live down there, and overall I didn't really want to leave. We didn't get to spend too much time gambling because we had the kid down there, and kids in casinos are obviously a big no-no. So we checked out a bunch of arcades. Let me just say that Gameworks (in the M&M Factory) is fucking BADASS. I wish I had arcades like that when I was a kid. They have cool little cards that you swipe through the machines and they take away the credits on the card. We figured the credits we had would last maybe an hour and a half, but we were there for 3 hours. Thursday night I went and saw a show called Avenue Q with my sister. It's a musical, but it uses puppets. When I say puppets, people always look at me weird. So then I have to explain that yes, it has puppets, but they need to picture Sesame Street with adult overtones and some bad language. (I also explained it in an earlier blog) Goddamn it has to be the most awesome show I have ever seen. I need to see it again eventually. I absolutely loved it, and my sister loved it too. I wish I could watch it every day. After the show, we met up with my Jr's brother Wade, who lives down there in Vegas. We had Eian spend the night with Wade's wife and kids, while we went out to Caesar's Palace for some gambling. We were mad because we couldn't find a Blackjack table with a minimum bet uner $25. We weren't willing to plop down that much, so I went and played slots for a bit, and turned $20 into $70. Then I saw that Jr and Wade were at a Roulette table, so I went and joined them. I should have quit when I was $150 up (on top of the $70 from slots) but no, I kept playing, and lost a couple big bets. I ended up losing $60 at roulette, which sucked, but overall I was only down $10 for the night. We had also checked out Excalibur, New York New York, and the MGM with the kid. The lions at MGM were pretty cool, I took Eian on the roller coaster at NYNY, and me and Jr. had a couple mixed drinks from Excalibur. We got those big cups that look like a chalice, and also hold quite a bit of liquor. The Pina Colada was pretty stout, and that was one of the best Margaritas I've ever had. On Friday, me and Junior decided that we needed to go to Hooters (mainly to eat....but to also check out the ladies) after we got done shopping with my uncle. We get there to find out that there would be over an hour wait before we got seated, which would really suck. So my uncle went off to play blackjack with the hawt dealers for a bit, while me and Jr kicked back with a couple beers near the entrance (we would have stayed in the lounge, but we got booted out because we had Eain with us) so we just drank our kickass green-bottled St. Patty's Day beers near the entrance. I saw so many damn hot women. Unf. Most were waitresses/dealers, but there were quite a few hotties just walking through. Overall, between buying some new clothes and shoes, and gambling, I think I spent about $300 down there, which is fine with me. Not too much, but I got my monies worth of fun. The biggest thing I got was a belief that I might want to actually live down there. I've been down there at least 10 times in my life, and everytime I go, I see a little bit more of the town. We weren't around the strip the whole time for this trip, and I actually realized that outside of the strip, traffic is pretty decent. My current major also has a lot of job offerings in the Vegas area, so there's a good chance I could end up down there. It's either that or Denver, and there's no way in hell I'm living in Denver. Fuuuuuuuck that. Anyway, that's most of my Vegas Adventure. I'm sure I missed a bit, but that's ok, I got the main points across. That's all for now folks, go back to your regularly scheduled lives.
