eclectically yours...
My random thoughts blog...
1. I need some new music!
2. Paul Mooney is out of control! Just saw Know your history, Jesus was black... and so was Cleopatra! Hilarious! Go see it!
3. Jill Scott came with it on this album, The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol 3! Hate On Me is empowering, All I is sexy! And My Love is deeper, tighter, sweeter, higher, flyer...
4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ny4pfPT19PY
5. Sunshine makes me smile. :)
6. In search of... THAT DUDE! I'm tired of assholes in denial. Guys doing asshole-esqe things, but trying to say they are not "that dude," sooo.... I'm trying to meet "that dude" and see what he talking bout.
7. Music people... Sorry, but if you have a music page, i'm pretty much deleting it on the spot. Sorry... blame all the wack rappers that came before you.
8. Also i'm looking for cool interesting people. Where are you? No naked chicks or in bikini's. No dudes with their shirt off. No one standing next to their beemer. No one holding guns or a stack of money (or maybe the money, lol). No one with bullet hole wallpaper. You get the drift... all others hit me up! :)
Addendum: I don't add private pages. Thanks in advance!
9. I should've been studying and it took me 5 years to do it, but I finally put stuff on my page. Yay!

There's a first time for everything...
I've officially had my first myspace argument, lol. I'm writing this to apologize to every single person I laughed at who told me they had a top friends, #1 spot, comment or a bulletin fight. Dang! Myspace got people going crazy!

Backpacker's Paradise!
So, last weekend I went to Rock the Bells. For those who are not aware, it was a huge, outdoor, all day hip hop concert in San Bernadino.
First off it was hot!!! Desert sun and summertime is no joke!!! I was there to take pictures and I literally couldn't move for at least 45 min! Ok, on to the show...
Yo! The show was dope! Every performance was great!
My friends and I got there in the middle of Guru's set. He was doing Manifest when we walked up, and although I was excited, it was too hot to be pumped. But from what I heard, he sounded good, lol!
It was too hot, so I chilled in the back during Immortal Technique, lol.
Hiero's was the bomb! They did mostly old stuff... all the classics... "That's when you lost!" 93 til infinity! And although Del looked kinda smoked out, he handled his business. I forget exactly what songs, but Casual did some stuff too. Also, they announced their most recent addition to the Hieroglyphic's crew... OC! "You lack the minerals and vitamins, irons and the niacin..." Time's Up! What?! The new school heads had no idea, but I was in the press section giving it up! It was just great!
Living Legends had a great show! Mystic Journeymen, Murs, Grouch, Aesop, Scarub, Bicasso and Eli all gave 110They were hot! I hadn't seen any of them perform since... ummm... maybe 96, so it was great just seeing them doing their thing! And the crowd loved them!
Although Redman took forever to get on stage, he eventually killed it! Not only did he have a DJ playing his stuff, but also had a band who made it sound even better! He did all the classics! He's such a great performer that he killed it rocking solo!
Nas is a girl, lol. He made everyone, including artist and press, leave backstage and VIP before he would go on stage. Everyone else walked from VIP, but not Nas... he had to have his Hummer and guards pull directly up to the back of the stage, then got on stage talking mess like "and 50 cent *10 guns shots*" I think he was shook, lol! As you can see, i'm still salty, lol. But to be fair, from what I saw (waaaaaay over on the side in the back of the stage) and heard, he did a great show! Halftime, It ain't hard to tell, the world is Joy's, lol. It was crackin!
Since Nas kicked us out and never lifted the ban, I missed most of KRS-1, Supernatural, Neb Love, Mikah 9 and Talib Kweli having a freestyle session. I also missed all of Talib's impromtu 3 song set! But from what I heard, from the side, Neb Love (I love her!) and Mikah Nine killed it!
Rae and Ghost killed it as well! Ghost is just such a great performer, lol! He did Run, a couple more songs from the Pretty Toney Album, and a couple of Wu songs. They were going back and forth, so I can't remember exactly what songs Rae did, but I know they did Cream and some joint off of Cuban Linx! He also did RapLife with Tash from Liks. Rza was on stage too, but he didn't really perfom.
If you weren't there, you missed a great show... I was in Backpacker's Paradise...

Isn't Hip Hop Grand!?
I have to really give it up to Scion, because last night they gave the livest party! Grandmaster Flash and Biz Markie were the featured artist for this installment and I was not going to miss it for the world. Since it wasn't far from my spot I decided walked... which was good because I got to listen to this Jae Mills mixtape and he's niiiiiice!!! I may have to start another blog just to write down all the punchlines he was killing me with... Definitely put me in the right mood.
When I first got there the homie DJ Hier (big-up, big-up!) was spinning. He did a great job. He played some 94 era hip hop before moving onto his traditional genre, reggae and killed it... "if I was a rich girl, la la la la la la la"... hot shit! Next on the tables was Haul and Mason, and although i've heard alot of bad stuff about them, I thoroughly enjoyed them. Rocking 4 turntables, they were making remixes out of remixes... quite entertaining I must say! After that it was the main event... Let's get ready to party!!!!
Grandmaster Flash had the longest intro i've ever heard, but it was all worth it when he finally got on the tables. He kicked it off with Phil Collins... "I can feel it comin in the air tonight, Oh Lord" The man was scratching and talking on the mic, at the same time! I didn't see him do it, but this is the man who invented needle dropping! He is partly responsible for inspiring me to want to DJ (him and Cut Creator, go!)! It was just an honor to be there and be a witness, because that may not happen again. I can now say... 'Oh yeah, Flash was spinning at this party I went to,' lol! What!!!
After that the diabolical Mr. Biz Markie rocked it! From what I noticed he rocked with all CD's... it started off shaky, but after they worked all the kinks out, he did his thing! I'm not sure what I expected, but he suprised me with all the tricks he was doing. I expected it from Flash, but I was pleasantly surprised at all his scratches and crossfader tummy tricks. :) He played just about a little bit of everything. Old School, New School, Break Beats, Sesame Street, East Coast, but the best was the West Coast! Can't come to LA and not respresent. How many times do you get to hear Quik and The DOC in the club?... bangin! But the highlight of the show is when he picked up the mic and did a mini show. I saw Biz do the Vapors!!!! That's history right there! Nobody beats the Biz! And he beat boxed!!! (lol, and I don't even care that I sound like a groupie!) Melle Mel was in the house, so he brought him up to buss something. Much better than I expected I have to say! The funniest part was when Melle Mel took off his jacket to reveal his super buffness and Biz had to follow suit and took his shirt off. I had mixed feelings about that one, lol... kinda humorous and just a little bit disgusting, lol. All in all, it was a great night! I left happy.

Prince!!!!!!
How often do 10 FREE tickets to see Prince fall into your hands and the only catch is, it's in Bakersfield???
Well, I got the call Monday afternoon 4pm for the following day (Tuesday) at 7:30pm. First thing I did was called a bunch of my friends, cause I just knew it was Prince so they would excuse the last minute notice and find a way....Wrong!!! Most of my friends cancelled out. Various excuses, but none of them good enough to miss Prince! I, on the other hand was not going miss it for the world. I figure if I had to go by myself, I would. I had previously tried to buy tickets for the Staples Center and for various reasons, it did not work out. Also tried winning the tickets off the radio, but it seemed that others were a little more persistant and needless to say, I did not win, so this was definitely a blessing.
But back to the story. Tuesday rolled around and I could not wait for 3:00pm, so that I could leave work and prepare for the 2 hour drive. First thing I did was got a dub sack! Then I went home to find the only two riders that was on the same level as I, Sen and Breeze! I only had to say: Prince and they were ready! But once I told them it was free, it was on!!! It's Prince!!! We rolled the blunt, put gas in the car, grabbed some CD's, and we were out! We listened to Kayne West and Murs' new albums on the way there, and it felt like we were there in 30 min.
When you first go in they automatically give you a copy of his new CD, which I must say, is the bomb!!! We got there just in time to go to the restroom (didn't want any distactions), and grab a beer and sit. About 5 minutes later Prince took stage. He was amazing!!!!! He would sing about 3 or 4 snippets before going into full songs such as "I feel 4 U" or "Break it down" and "Scandalous (oh my!), etc." I thought I would be hoarse as much as I was screaming! He also sang a couple of his new songs, which was cool cause although we (the crowd) did not know them, they still banged. He sang and danced all night (effortlessly), all while in stilletto heels!!! I'm a girl and I can't do that!!!! That boy is bad!!! I go to alot of shows and he made me realize just how much the music and entertainers these days suck! He sounded just like he does on record, but better! When he said, let's party, you partied! When he sang a slow song, you felt it (I know I did, :D)! He is truely a genius!!! I won't tell the end, for now, cause I don't want to spoil it for anyone else, but Damn!!! I love him!!!!!
EDIT: He ended the show with an acoustic version of Little Red Corvette!

hmmmmm.....
Ok, what can I say........
It's Monday and i'm beat!!! Another full weekend just passed and although, i'm extremely tired, it was worth it! hmmmmmm.... I guess i'll start with Thursday.
Thursday night I went to the Conga Room to see DJ Jazzy Jeff. He is amazing on the tables! The man played hip hop and did lots of tricks. When I say hip hop, I mean HIP HOP. The real hip hop. Not the commercial bullshit that played on the radio over and over, (although that has a time and place). When was the last time you went to a club and heard classics such as Run DMC, LL Cool J, KRS-1, Souls of Mischief, Tribe, Jeru, Gangstar, NWA, etc.??? If you really know me, you know that I love that shit!!!! In short, lol, going to bed at 3:30am, knowing I had to be up by 7:00am, was worth it.
Friday was an excellent night as well! My dad had his CD release party. That was alot of fun as well as alot of work. Both show's sold out!!! And at least 20 extra people, per show, crowded the door outside just to get a glimpse and hear the beautiful music being performed. Jazz at it's finest!!! And I have to say though, i'm a better saleman than I would've thought. We sold Coffee, Water, (lol, almost) Better Than Sex Cake, and lot's of CD's. I don't think I had a conversation that didn't end in "You should take a piece of cake home" or "Have you tried a sample of the cake" or "It's Better Than Sex Cake!", the guys loved that one, lol! Another 3:30am bedtime, but was worth it.
Saturday was cool. I wish I could remember everything I did on Saturday, but considering the lack of sleep I received the previous days, it was all a blur.
Sunday, I went to church. I loved it! Z loves it too! only problem I have with church is the abundance of fine ass people that go there! It's a gift and a curse! I want to go and learn about the Lord, but when it's people sitting next to you wearing street clothes, fine as I don't know what, it makes it hard!!!!
Message: Don't let your heart get hardened. Hardening of the heart will change your perspective on EVERYTHING, and not for the best!
