The moment you've all been waiting for...
Right now I'm stranded in 15 inches of snow in Columbia, Missouri (I finally finished my master's degree, but that's not what this is about), and the Official Ski Song of the 2006-2007 committee got all excited and went ahead and chose the Official Ski Song of the 2006-2007season.
Here it is...
The Official Ski Song of the 2006-2007season is...
"Steady as She Goes" by The Raconteurs
Congratulations to April for your winning nomination, and thank you to everyone who nominated a song, and/or voted.

Headed home
Hey myspace pals- After almost 2 and a half years, I've decided to leave my position as Sports Anchor/Reporter at KGWN-TV in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I'm going to be leaving the television business for a while as well, and moving home the Twin Cities to teach Communications and TV at Concordia University in St. Paul. I've enjoyed my time in Wyoming (especially skiing), but am going home for personal reasons, and am very excited to start this new part of my life. Here's my contact information: Chris Fink 1655 Juno Ave. St. Paul, MN 55116 612.414.5096 (cell) chris@chrisfink.tv My last day on the air in Cheyenne will be either Saturday, August 19th or Sunday, August 20th. I start teaching on the 24th. I hope everyone is doing well, and please keep in touch. Chris

Fink Finds Out
Scroll down a little on my home page, look to the left, and check out a couple episodes of "Fink Finds Out," the stories I do at my TV station. The first one is the first one I ever did, where I try to find out how much food it takes to feed the University of Wyoming football team. The second is one I did at a rodeo last summer. I tried to find out more about the mysterious "hooey."

360, baby!
I didn't get a great new job, or pay off a credit card...but last Friday, I reached one of my goals. I landed a 360 off a jump, on skis. Pictures forthcoming. It was steezy.

Goodbye, Kirby
I didn't think I'd cry tonight...but I did. All of the sudden, my chest welled up, and so did the memories. Kirby Puckett died today, and while it may sound silly to some, part of my childhood died today as well. As I watch CNN, and read all the stories...I see images that epitomize my childhood. The pride I felt to be a Minnesotan, the joy Kirby and the Twins brought us in 1991 while we were just settling in for another long, cold winter. I remember how everyone wore Twins colors back in 1987, and from yard to yard, everyone's radios were tuned to 830 AM, while our underdogs beat the odds. And while more and more, sports are less like real life...I learned values from those years...the value of loyalty...that underdogs can win...to be proud of where you are from...that life should be fun...to be the first to get there, and the last to leave...and later, that sometimes life is unfair...and that people sometimes have dark sides.
Kirby died young, and that is sad. He screwed up later on, and that is sad too. And while I'm sad about Kirby...I think part of it is also that I feel guilty I'm not back home in Minnesota tonight.

Check out the Country Star
As you probably already know, my best friend Steve is an aspiring country singer. Last week, he appeared on a Nashville-area television show called "Smart Country." You can watch it by going to www.smartcountry.net, and clicking on "On the air." Steve's performance is about 19 minutes into the show. If you can make it through the cheesiness, and puppets, you'll see a really great performance. You can also check out his music at http://www.myspace.com/stevebrandmusic Take care, y'all!
