Last Year of My Life

Back in November I finally decided to become part of something and throw all I am into it..I joined Oil City Derby Girls in an officiating capacity.  My goal was to meet new people, travel a bit, and just get my chunky ass out and about doing something.  In the last year I think I acheived what I was trying to do, I have travelled more and met more amazing people in the last 365 days than I probably have in all of my many years on this planet.

Ive been to some places multiple times and others only once, but I will return to them again for sure.  This year I finally crossed over into the US, I stayed on an island, and even played a sport I never thought I would.  Calgary, Saskatoon, Vancouver, Victoria, Seattle, Las Vegas, and in a month I arrive in Portland.  I met some awsome people, heard some great music, and saw some amazing things, and this is just the first year!

I want to thank everyone for what has been the time of my life..and looking forward to seeing you all again.  And if I havent met you yet..I cant wait until I do.  If the first year of derby is any indication of what my second year will be like..LOOK OUT!  I know it will be hard to improve on all my experiences from the past 12 months..but Im gonna try my fuckin best!

Wake Up!!

Just saw another special warning people of the evils of Myspace..seems to be the new issue lately for all the tabloid news shows.  I hate to say shows like 20/20 and Primetime Live are tabloid but that became apparant when they started doing celebrity gossip/promotion shows.  Anyways..again the terrible Myspace demon has raised its ugly head and is the number 1 hunters guide for pedafiles.  Im sorry..but please dont blame something that in its beginnings had nothing but good intentions and great expectations..theres someone else who the finger should be pointed at..the kids who use and abuse the site by using it as a popularity contest. 

Protective features have been set up for kids to use..sadly its based on an honour system which is so easily circumvented.  Stupidity comes into this as well..who in their right mind would would try hooking up online with someone who has a profile pic of a cartoon character?!  Yes Virginia, there are monsters in this world, and by no means do I blame kids online for that fact..my problem is that they know it and continue to blindly think it would never happen to them even with so many instances known to occur.  Please people quit defending them by saying kids are smarter than they used to be..thats bull!!  Kids are just as dumb as we were and by us not accepting that its no wonder more and more children are being abused and murdered..apathy by adults and "trusting" your kids to make the right decisions is just another form of neglect..be a part of their lives and make sure they know all the options..when you make a choice your choosing the consequences that comes with it..just make sure they know that and understand it..were here to give guidance and if your not giving it to them..do you know who is?

Dont blame the internet..or Myspace..these things have been happening long before the advent of the PC..all its done is just provided a new tool for the predators out there.  Cell phones are another thing that has just allowed our children to deceive and manipulate adults into thinking its a good thing to have..but that is a subject for another time.  Stop thinking that your interfering with your childs life..your a parent and thats your responsability.  Remember what you were like as a kid and start to realise your kids are the same..also remind yourself how many times you now say to yourself how right your parents were..guaranteed if you start to do what is expected as a parent, a guide to life experience..they will be saying the same once they grow up as well.

Think I scared a bunch away

Its kinda weird...but boy oh boy did my requests for adds ever drop off...as well as my regular contacts messaging and replys...coincided with the moment I took down the Lydon photo and posted one of my own...hmmmmmmmmm?  Could there be a link between the two?  Did I make a mistake?  Did I think what would happen come true and is why I never did post a photo prior?  Kinda looks that way...coincidence I think not.  Live and learn I guess.

Soooo Kewl!!

Im really starting to love this "Myspace" thing!!  I have meet some outstanding people so far...some just in passing but others for Im hopeing long term.  I have met an amazing young talent in Amanda...A wonderful like minded mom of two in Shyra...Some incredible young musicians like Gel from "The Eyeliners", the grrrrls from "Vendetta", a bunch of guys from some great hardcore bands who never seem to leave their names but still chat :) ...and a legend of Punk in Joe from the "Queers".  If I missed anyone Im sorry...there has just been so many people that have blown me away,  would be impossible to list them all.  Im enjoying meeting new and interesting people from all over everyday...I actually rush home to see who wrote or has added me or is requesting an add from me...Im an addict!!  I hope it dosnt stop...that the people I have met continue to be my friends and I hope to make even more just like them.  Heres to new friends...the ones I have made and the ones I havnt met yet....

I never thought I would have this problem...really I didnt, but now I have to deal.  I appreciate any interest in me...really I do, but dont add me or ask to be added unless you feel the same as I do when it comes to my reasoning for coming onto myspace.  Im here to make new friends...not just add to some long list of kewl people who I think will look good and boost my position in the eyes of the extremely superficial.  If your not willing to share and create dialogue...or want to express yourself truthfully...Im not your kinda person then and I dont think you do want me.  If your main purpose is to be a collector thats great...but its not mine and I would appreciate you not wasting yours or my time.  I know I have a few "celebrities" on my page...and all I said may sound hypacritical...but Im truely a fan of their work and only added them as a show of support for what they create...not to collect.  Hope everyones experience on myspace has and will be as rewarding as mine has been so far...Ive met some incredible people and I am hoping to meet even more.
