Curious/Alternative/Pop/Rock
By Christi Broekemeier http://www. myspace. com/Curiousmusic This cutie from LA, CA has a breathy Pop Rock sound which is so much different than Bubblegum Pop. With interesting musical composition and a voice that is in perfect pitch but is also a bit odd, she has the ability to write songs about love, feeling alive and even cities as the title of one of her song is "Hollywood", where the music is a bit new wave 80's and maybe the old classic Missing Persons song "Nobody walks In LA". The song is totally different; she is singing about her love of Hollywood, which so much of the world is. It is the world of facades and fantasy. Curious is defiantly doing something right with her songs getting well over 2,000,000 hits it is a testament to her truth and the truth of all her listeners. She is quirky, and from some of her songs you get the picture that at some point she was an awkward teen looking into others lives rather than being the center of all the attention. Now an adult she has put all those feelings into her songwriting. In songs like "Unfair", she sings about being an outsider, which is her most listened to song; so maybe it is possible that everyone is feeling the same way she does. The song "Stay" is a disturbing love, where she sings about love and at the same time obsession; with a line about carving her lovers name in her arm. The song is beautiful and scary; we never wish to be so obsessed with someone but for most it happens at some point, where the person we love so very much may just be the one who damages us the most; letting go in this song is not an option. Insecurity and sometimes shame is a running theme through this music, which is what makes Curious's music so tangible to her listeners and fans. It is all about losing control and hope. At some point you are left to wonder how much is taken from her life and how much is great writing. The song "Rain" is a perfect song for allowing your angst to have an anthem. She is charming yet with many songs of hurt so very relatable to anyone who has seen hard times. This is the music that can take a happily or unhappily married person back to their greatest heartaches; she may be cornering the market on sad love pop songs soon; perfect for a Soap Opera, so much so that she should try submitting her music to one. She does have charm, a different sound and is very worthy of being heard!

So I went to Calgary for my brother's wedding, ( it was on June 9th) while there I got sick, so sick that I lost my voice which of course freaked me out since I am in the middle of recording my new record, and I am suppose to sing 5 more songs when I was back. So I went to my doc. got antibiotics, and was ordered not sing till I am done with the treatment. A week passes by and my voice is better but not where it was, another week passes by and I am starting to freak out again, so I went to a throat specialist today, omg that was weird , he numb my nose and slide a telescope from my nose to my throat, my right eye started to tear like crazy, and he kept saying sing happy birthday, higher, swallow, sing happy birthday, higher, higher, I thought I was going to choked , and it felt awful, it lasted about 4 min, and now I am about to start taking STERIODS for 6 days.....

Studio and TOE update

So as most of you know I am working on my new record! The name of the record is "Something Worth Fighting For " and so far it's been true to its name.
We started recording back in Nov. but in January I realized that the situation we were in was not working right, and we started the record from pretty much ground zero again in April. It sucked but it's all working out now sooooo much better.....
Last weekend Travis and I were at Keith's studio. He has a studio in Orange County which is about an hour away from Los Angeles. We got there Fri at 2 pm and did not leave till Sunday at 1am. While there at night we crashed at the Days Inn, OMG the place was a zoo! The first night we got out of the studio at about 2 AM and as we approached the motel, we saw 3 police cars with the lights on. We were joking between us saying "Oh I bet it's in the place we are about to stay", well it was.... there was some lady sitting on the ground yelling at the cops, "No! Don't spill my beer!". She was very drunk, somewhat crazy, and wearing a red sleep shirt and her ass was all hanging out. We all saw WAY more than we would have liked to, for sure…LOL. She had a case of beer on the ground. She could not stand up and she kept telling the cops, "Don't spill my beer!"- it was so bizarre and somewhat funny. The cops were just trying to keep her away from the beer and we think they eventually got her in their car. What a warm welcome!
On the next day while driving to the studio at a red light, a small truck rear-ended the back of a larger truck. It was weird because we'd been stopped for a while, and all of the sudden "smash!". Luckily no one was hurt. Only the smaller truck was…
Besides that we got a lot done. We tracked all of the bass and guitars for:

We are finally getting the guitar sounds that I'm after, so I am very excited about all of this and I can't wait to share " Something Worth Fighting For " with all of you!

Hey hey,
I am excited about MTV playing Goodbye tonight on the real world, I hope the song will be placed in a cool scene....I guess I'll wait and see. I've been in the studio working hard on my new record, being an independent artist makes some things like studio, time, players and rental a little harder, However there is a lot of freedom , I can do what ever the f**k I want musically which is AWESOME! I am working with Rae Dileo and Travis, We are done tracking the basic of the first 6 songs: BoY, Nothing is Missing, Not Over, Open Your Eyes, Five PM, Muse.

Crawling on glass... Well it is how I feel now,but in a good way,in I can't believe I am still doing it and yet I am so happy I am still doing it and have not given up on what I believe in, I hit so many bumps along the road had so many disappointments,sacrificed so much, but hey that's life and I am glad to be alive :)
I am working on my new record I think I may call it Crawling On Glass,or maybe Changes or maybe one of you will give me a cool idea for a name, what do you think? I will be hitting the studio on Oct 15 to record 12 new songs, I am still putting the final touches on some songs writing and rewriting and then going back to the original way and then changing it again, I am driving myself crazy....lol but I love it.
