Books and company...
Current mood: awake
Category: Writing and Poetry

libro

"The book is the only inanimate object that can have dreams" Ennio Flaiano said this.

:-D

Some time ago I was saying that in summer I read really slowly... and less...

If in winter I usually read almost a book a week, in summer it takes me more than a month to finish only one!

It's not that books are boring, but it's the world that gets alive in summer! It's full of new things and it's hard to keep concentrate while looking at what happens around us. People are happier, smiling, sunnier and it's a treat to look at them; nature is a mix of wonderful colours and it would be really a pity to miss it!

On the other hand the books are surely one of the wonders in the world and, probably because of this winter without books wouldn't be an option for me, they make you explore new worlds, get to know new "persons"... All of them ready to be invented by our own imagination following the author's path. It's the character we fall in love with or we hate. We are their fans and sometimes we would even like to be like them...

Chit once asked his readers which of the characters in the books we read we would like to resemble to... and which we wouldn't.

I've read many books and I can say without any doubt that I wouldn't walk in the woman in "The Handmaid's Tale" by M. Atwood. It's a scary book that reminds me of 1984 by Orwell. It's in the future and in a world where women have lost all their rights and are used basically only for reproduction and work.

Who would I like to be? Maybe Arwen of "The Lord of the Ring", but also Lyra of "His Dark Materials". Or to be more "earthly" all of Jane Austen's main characters!!!

But the main character I feel more attached to is Camille in "Hunting and Gathering". While reading this book I really felt a pang in the chest. I could read so much of me in her. I could recall the same frailty and the same strength. The same dreams and the same fears. She lost and found herself too. A wonderful novel by Anna Gavalda, which I truly recommend to read!

Well... Books are magical paper.

I wish you all a nice weekend! I will spend it together with those who really appreciate fantasy: kids. And I will also relax a bit...

Sponsionsfeier ovvero festa di laurea!!! In Italian!!!
Current mood: tired
Category: Blogging

me

All "good" things...
Current mood: thoughtful
Category: Sports

bevendo...come to an end! (in this picture I am listening to my father commenting the match...) Well oh well! I cannot say that Italy has been shining like a star yesterday, and Spain either... (it wouldn't have ended with penalties in the end otherwise). Like Fra says... it wasn't an exiting match at all... If I can remeber well... Italy has never won at penalty shoots apart from two years ago (well what I can remember is starting from 84 onwards)!

Toni was ... bad really bad (I would like to use another word, but I am a lady ;-)...) I hate Italians talking shit about De Rossi and Di Natale because they failed to shoot... Bloody hell! De Rossi (apart from two very bad errors during the match) was the only one really running... and Di Natale (well penalties are a fortune thing... and a bit depends on the fact that the goalie - no idea if this is the word in English and I can't be bothered looking for it - feels the way the ball could come from) didn't shoot it in the sky...

Toni should stay in Germany... they really deserve such a player... And thank to idiot Donadoni for having "believed" in him till the end...

:-D

Let's face it... Italy didn't even almost deserve to go to the quarter finals... it wasn't the Italy playing and winning the World Championship.. and it wasn't Italy the Euro Champion...

Now I hope Turkey wins against Germany (because here the stupid prats are cheering Germany going on and Italy being thrown out just to make Italians angry... this says a lot about their intelligence) and then SPAIN GO!!!! They are a great team... and they played really FAIR! Moreover thery're our cousins so...

We keep on dreaming...
Current mood: blissful
Category: Sports

Ingredients:
1. a very well played game like we are used to see (not like the last two that we all want to forget)
2. bad luck for Luca Toni
3. a wonderful penalty by Andrea Pirlo, rightful like the espulsion of the French player
4. a wonderful goal by great De Rossi
5. headache, stomach ache, tachicardy (I don't know if this is the English word) with a start of Parkinson for me... and my head was spinning badly when the referee whistled the end of the game
6. last but not at all least: a wonderful NETHERLANDS that won playing with the reserve players (apart from few)...

.... mix all this together and...

WE KEEP ON DREAMING!!!!

Just a note: it should be forbidden to tell the results of the other games to the players in the field! Italy after the 1:0 of Netherlands seemed to have forgotten what a football looks like...!!!!

VAI MITICIIIIIIIII!!!!! Now I go to sleep happy!!!
A wonderful night to all of you!

Sadness is easier because it’s surrender...
Current mood: romantic
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

I just finished watching:

From the same director of Jerry Maguire...
I thought it was just a funny a bit stupid film and there was: Orlando Bloom!
But...
Watch it!
I cried (I know I should buy waterproof mascara because I am always quick to cry and get moved), I laughed (a lot), I dreamt (I am romantic so what?)...
I don't know why I haven't watched it back then when it came out in theatres...
WHAT A NICE SURPRISE!
:-)

Two lovely scenes...
The one after the one night phone call (they hardly know each other)...  and the one which melted my heart! There you go:

La Prochaine Fois

I am enjoying this author very much! Yes, well... every book is a new experience and the stories are really different from one another.

"La prochaine fois" it's a (very) soft thriller full of surprises. The main character is a Russian painter with whom Jonathan, a famous researcher, is obsessed. All starts when his friend, Peter of a renowned art gallery in Boston, calls him to tell him that the last big paintwork of him has been found in London. And in London Jonathan's adventure on the verge of paranormal, starts.

Appealing.

As my mp3 player, the one my friends gave me at my birthday last year, seems to have some problems with the software or file system (Ale told me, because I don't have any idea of these things) and the even older Creative can't be recognise by the super intelligent Vista, I decided to buy a new one!

There we go!

PICT0002

I still have to name it!

The only stupid thing that really gets me is that it can't be recharged with an universal charger and Francesca (who already told me that) and I spent this free afternoon looking for it: nowhere to be found! Now... if they do such really intelligent things, why doesn't they also make it easier to find also these intelligent means?

Anyway... very nice afternoon! I enjoyed it very much! :-)
