The Mist
Current mood: cooky/wacky
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

The Mist is my new, short term cinematic obsession. I say short term because I'll get over it soon enough, stumble across The Thing or something and move on. Down the road, I'll get all revved up about The Mist again, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Anyway, as a fan of the novella, The Mist is good stuff. Good, good stuff.
I wholeheartedly recommend, for those who had seen it in theaters, or for those who've missed it entirely, to check it out in black and white. The second disc on the "collector's edition" Mist contains the B&W version, which is how director Frank Darabont wanted it to be released in the first place. It really has a different effect, different feel to it, and it really compliments the film.
Having said all that, I have more than once been sitting there as The Mist was ending, only to have the person/persons whom just watched it for the first time, turn to me and spew profanities. Holding me responsible.
Get over it and enjoy. And don't blame me man, I'm just spreading the good word.

Cloverfield
Current mood: excited
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
Hey, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's not going to be for all tastes. There will be those who will complain about the camera work, but I found it to be a good choice although it does hammer you a bit every now and then.
There are those who will claim there's "no point to it." "It" being the movie.
Giant monster. Attacking city. What the hell else do you want?
There will be people who claim that the best place for the main characters in the movie is under the foot of a giant beast.
What characters?
As a giant fan of giant monster flicks, I found it to be an interesting take. I didn't really pile on the expectations going in, so I was pleasantly surprised. I got more monster than I bargained for, and a seriously cool looking one too! I like the whole documentation whilst trying to save a friend/loved one while some big ass beastie is doing a bang up job of tearing down the city, and the F/X are wonderful when called on. You've seen the trailer by now, and there's no longer any real mystery. It's a giant monster. The camera style they went with is a pov of one of the characters filming everything with a handycam. It's going to be shaky and intentionally unprofessional looking, but it still looks good and it serves the purpose of jarring you.
That's it. You already know if you want to see it or not, so don't come out of there complaining about things you should have been well aware of in advance.
If it was still acceptable to call something "neat," then I would call Cloverfield just that. Actually, I'm going to make "neat" acceptable again. Cloverfield was neat. Neat-o!
Enjoy!

Behold: The Atom Shrine!
Current mood: chipper
Category: Blogging
My geekery knows no bounds. Just when you think you know a guy...
I started a shrine of sorts for my favorite comic dude, The Atom. There's all sorts of chaos going on over there. It's not for all tastes, and I know the majority of the people on my "friends" list here couldn't care less, so crap on you if that's the case.
Seriously. Crap. Directly. On. You.
Otherwise, if you're an Atom fan (anyone?), DC fan, or whatever, check it out, give me feedback.

And don't bother making fun of me, it won't work. Besides I might already be in a bad mood and brain you with a clipped toe nail.

Tampa Bay Rays: New uniforms, altered name
Current mood: confused
Category: Sports
I don't know how I feel about this. I'll get back to you. In the meantime, the Rays new uniforms for next season were leaked, and now I'll have to buy all new shit. They should send me and the other fans that have stuck around through this rubbish some goodies to keep us happy. Damn them all!
Aside from the uni change, they've dropped, as some of us expected, the word "Devil" from their operation. Apparently this was the cause of 10 losing seasons. I knew it.
Post season here we come! Here's the linkage:

Mitt is in the doghouse
Current mood: savage
Category: News and Politics
Now, the difference between Mitt Romney and Clark W. Griswald is.......Clark forgot he had tied the dog to the bumper of his woody station wagon.
In a Boston Globe profile about dear Mitt, one of his sons casually mentioned that back in 1983, pops put the family dog Seamus (an Irish Setter) in a cage and tied him to the roof of the car. He and family then proceeded to drive from Massachusetts to Ontario, Canada. Something along the lines of a 12 hour trip.
It's okay though, because when they stopped at a gas station and found that Seamus fell victim to a bad case of diarrhea (perhaps due to the roof ride from one country to another), Romney hosed off the dog and the super duper cage in which he was traveling. Then right back on the roof!
Sure, stances on animal/pet treatment go through phases over the years. And Mittens obviously thought this was an okay way to go. Which is of course the problem.
Beware America. Mitts is obviously trying to take this country on it's very own roof ride!
