2 albums i love.

1st.

happy hollow by cursive. sonically & lyrically one of my fave albums. not for anyone religious as it's a concept album (as are most cursive albums) but it's amazing. and i can't wait for their new album which i've heard all of/most of live twice.

cursive happy hollow

2nd.

deer tick. from providence i saw them open for cursive while i was there and it was like seeing nirvana (the band..not the buddhist epiphany) it's hard to explain as they're kinda alt country but there's just this energy. anyways. i really like them.

so....

So Friday I burnt myself pretty bad…by pretty bad I mean my hand/arm slipped into the fryer at work (which was not at full temp..phew) so right now I have gnarly 2nd degree burns and am pretty much out of commission and in jersey for the next few weeks. (I don't think I'll be going back to the hamptons much before aug. 5th) They don't look as bad as they did, I went to a burn unit Tuesday and the popped all the blisters (which were massive) now it's just raw and gross (but bandaged, so if you wanna hang out you won't see it, I swear!) The downside is, I can't drive anywhere, it's my right hand so I can barely do anything..and today is the first day I can move my fingers on the hand (hence me actually taking the time to type this) so far since I've been home all I've left the house to do is go to dinner w/ my cousin & brother, see Indiana Jones & go to Wawa w/ matt, and saw Batman in IMAX with my brother today.. I am starting to go stir crazy. I think Saturday I am going to force myself to see She & Him at Terminal 5 w/ my brother, and go to the FREE LOCKSLEY GIG at the Knitting Factory beforehand. If I'm feeling up to it maybe I'll even go to Fontana's for drinks afterwards. Granted I'm not too hopped up on painkillers and don't have people bumping into my arm. Also, in case you haven't noticed a trend, I've only been hanging out with my family not that that's a bad thing, but I would love to see people I'm not related to while I'm home, so if anyone feels like picking me up and dragging me out I don't think I'd contest.

busy weekend!

I don't think I've ever had so much to do as I did last weekend--

Friday morning I went to the hamptons (4 hours there.. and took like 5 to get back..ugh!) checked out the place I'll be working It's nice right on the beach the housings pretty cool it's like 1/2 mi away so I may buy a cheap bike and use that while I'm there to get around for the most part.... Had the best pizza ever while I was there at this little italian market and stopped at some outlets in CT on the way back and spent money I wasn't sure I had.... that night I went out and it was fairly uneventful.

Saturday I worked turns out I got a bonus from when I was cafe manager so yeah, I could spend that cash. Afterwards I went to my normal bar and wound up meeting the drummer of Kasabian--apparently he just felt like checking out Providence & Boston--weird. so that was neat.

Sunday- went out again.started at lili's then decided to swing by 121 by myself to check out the dj that was there it was fun.

Monday-yes my weekend carried over to monday- a new bar opened in town and my friend don dragged me out it was fun, but packed--so around 11:30 i headed over to my favorite bar

Tuesday--I MET EDDIE IZZARD. went to see his gig at the VMA (it's a smallish theatre) 5th row center. So hilarious. I was in tears after the first 5 mins.. as I was driving up I saw him outside and was like yeah! i'll park my car and run down and meet him, but by the time i did he was gone. so after the gig I waited outside (i know dork.) as you can tell I succeeded got my pic taken with him. He made jokes about how empty the theatre was (it was maybe 1/2 full) it was nice. afterwards went to 121 again because I was already downtown met up w/ some friends one was having a birthday. ate really yummy bacon wrapped scallops and danced a ton.

yawn!

....

so the interviews went well.... should hear back in a couple weeks..hopefully.

already heard back from a place i didn’t interview with.... the place in the hamptons. the guy was uber psyched about me for some reason... i mean it’s a sweet deal. spending the summer in the hamptons and getting paid and not paying rent or for food...but it almost seems too good-- they want me to come visit the place soonish. i may do it... cause we all know i’m such a beach person.being you know....pale.

i don’t know.

i do know i’m ticked off. i spent 2 weeks watching all 3 seasons of lost every free second. trying to get caught up for this season.. only to get caught up when they go on hiatus. ugh. it’s a good show don’t get me wrong. but now i have to wait.

last night i went to a really rad soul night in providence. but they had go-go dancers and i thought i was in nyc again.. (although they were cute and non-druggies) if anyone wants to come visit the last saturday of april i’m off of work and they’re doing it again.

guess that’s all.

new tattoo--

here's the explanation so hopefully i don't have to talk much about it.

it's an orange peel, it's something i've been talking about getting for awhile. but today i was w/ dorian at the shop, and he was getting tattooed and i decided to just get it done. so i did.

there's actually quite a lot of meaning behind it....it's from a j.d. salinger story (who's my favorite author) called "teddy" the namesake character notices some orange peels floating in the water and makes a comment about how if he hadn't seen them they may not even really exist, and as he exits the room he tells his parents:

"After I go out this door, I may only exist in the minds of all my acquaintances, I may be an orange peel."

I read that story almost 10 years ago-- and I've always related to it. I guess I see myself as an orange peel...

I have a few tattoos but i tend to forget they're there as they're not really visible and honestly only one set really means much to me--so to have something so important in a place anyone can see is kinda a big deal--and fuck did it hurt- but the swelling has gone down and i'm happy with it.

so there you have it--i was afraid for a bit it may kinda look like a worm but most
people (well everyone who's seen it tonight) has guessed orange peel--so that's good and now we can just ignore it.

oh btw.. HOLY SHIT i had the best sushi ever tonight--i'm converted- it was at this place in new brunswick--it was crab & shrimp rolled in rice & cucumber (not seaweed) and it was amazing.

writers strike....

i hope this goes on forever david letterman is actually tolerable with a beard(i think he usually comes off as annoying) and . i don't get why the beard makes me think that..plus conan with a beard..pretty sweet too. i really want to see how far they'll take it..

although i am beginning to miss the office, pushing daises, 30 rock, and scrubs. i will miss these a lot more when there is ABSOLUTELY nothing to do.

24 Dec 07 Monday

hi my name is buddy, what’s your favorite color?

i hate wrapping chirstmas gifts. today was fine up until this point. and i even went shopping and that wasn't even terrible. (except for gamestop...damn me for trying to be a cool sister & getting my brother halo 3 for his xbox 360 that he's getting tomorrow so he has something to play on it)

though 2 good things did come of today.. first. my great aunt gave me my great grandmother's cavatelli/gnocchi maker and her ravioli presses so i can't wait to test those out while i'm home. second. i made a roast duck with bourbon pecan glaze and dirty wild rice and didn't mess it up-- shut up, i know that i'm going to culinary school and shouldn't be shocked when i don't mess things up but, it was my first time making duck so i was pretty proud of myself. oh, speaking of culinary school- i made deans list. yay!

also--me, alex white & joe mesmer (scott free) are djing fontana's (eldridge b/t grand & broome) wed. jan 2nd. I KNOW IT'S THE DAY AFTER NEW YEARS but i'm counting on new years to suck (as per usual, last year was a minor exception), so i think i'm claiming this as my new years--without the amateurs

anyways, merry christmas and whatnot and i'm going to finish wrapping gifts and try not to throw anything else at a wall because the tape won't stick...
