Read Me on the NEW & Improved SOAPnet.com

Hi MySpacers!
Nine months ago, I made the difficult decision to leave behind my TVGuide.com Soaps News blog and TV Guide magazine column.
I really loved my job, but SOAPnet made me an offer that was just too delicious to resist. The thing is, I had to slip out of the cyberspotlight and go to work behind the scenes. Plus, I was sworn to secrecy on some stuff I was working on. As a result, my loyal readers didn't exactly understand WHAT I was doing for SOAPnet. It's been SO hard not to be able to tell you!!!
Dramatic statement: Now the veil of silence is lifted at last!
You probably know this part ... Among other things, I was the lead editor of the official site of "The Fashionista Diaries." I also was a key member of the team that rehabbed "The View's' official site. I also have been overseeing ABC.com's official sites for "All My Children," "One Life to Live" and "General Hospital."
But my Top Secret, Top Priority project has been the relaunch of SOAPnet.com. The site is NEW and MAJORLY improved. Check it out here.
FYI, I'll be writing/reporting for SOAPnet.com on a regular basis. Maybe you'd like to sample this story I wrote about this Sunday's "Desperate Housewives." There's a special guest star true soap fans will appreciate seeing on the show.
Spoiler alert! If you’re not a Christian, you may not be interested in reading further, as I’m about to "testify" up in here... LOL!
With that said, I just want to wish you all a Happy Easter! Remember that it’s not about egg hunts and showing off your fine clothes, it’s about recognizing that God sacrificed His only Son to save us all from evil, sin and death. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is God’s greatest miracle. It’s not a myth, it’s not a metaphor, it really happened, and we need to give Him glory and praise! HALLELUJAH!
Since my singing abilities need improvement--although I have been known to bust it out at karaoke--I’ll let the Shekinah Glory Ministry sing His praises here. (It’s a two parter.) Listen to the message here!

MySpace Weirdness
Current mood: annoyed

Hey MySpacers,
Just a quick note to say that I've changed my MySpace password because someone said they got a weird message from me promoting cell phone ringtones.
Whatever.
Rest assured that I would never send anyone a note like that. My celly still has the default Motorola ring! For a guy who works as a website editor, I am actually surprisingly low tech.
So I recently got through a rough time emotionally and spiritually, with God's help. I am so grateful for that, and I find that faith is more important to me now than it has ever been before. I have never been a big Bible reader, but that is changing, as I work to change for the better.
I recently rediscovered the Psalms... So far 103 is my favorite. In my daily prayers (and I do pray daily now), I usually read a Psalm aloud. They're great and really make me feel protected, stronger and more full of God's light.
I just felt like randomly sharing this today with whomever might like to read it. --Love, Daniel
Bless the Lord, O My Soul
Of David.
103:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, 3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, 5 who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. 7 He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel. 8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 9 He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. 10 He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. 13 As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. 14 For he knows our frame;[1] he remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; 16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. 17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children, 18 to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. 19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! 21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will! 22 Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!

NEW QUIZ! Think You Know AMC’s Greenlee?
Current mood: cheerful
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
Hey kids,
Sorry I haven't blogged here in awhile. I have something fun to share with the soap opera fans among you!
The supercute Rebecca Budig is coming back to ALL MY CHILDREN as Greenlee Smythe on Jan. 16, 2008. In honor of her upcoming return to Pine Valley, I have created an "All About Greenlee" Trivia Quiz on SOAPnet.com.
See what's happening on all nine soap operas this fall! Plus: Watch the videos of me interviewing ABC Daytime honcho Brian Frons about All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital.
We also have sneak peeks at some upcoming new primetime shows you should check out.
This is one of my first big projects since I joined SOAPnet and I'm very excited... Enjoy your preview!
I hope you'll enjoy it... If you do, please send me a note at my official SOAPnet e-mail address, which you'll see me give out at the very end of the video blog.

"P-Nasty" calls it out as a suicide attempt, while some other media outlets shy away from stating that as a firm fact.
I don't care to speculate on whether the Wedding Crashers star actually tried to take his own life. I just feel like saying that I'm very sad about the idea of him coming to any harm at all.
I don't really know Owen Wilson. I met him once at a Hollywood party (back in my prior incarnation as the "Party Boy" columnist for TVGuide.com). We maybe talked for a minute in the pretty courtyard of a mansion. He was gracious, and I developed a big crush on him.
Fact is, I'm sometimes attracted to creative, quirky guys with "off beat" looks. He fits the bill. I think Owen W. is a talented comedic actor and, say what you will, his body looked effin' hawt during his nude scenes in You, Me & Dupree.
Again, I don't know what the real story is with Owen W. I will say that, although I've never attempted suicide, I sure do know how it feels to be sad enough to at least contemplate it. It really is awful to feel that sad, lonely and hopeless. (When I get to that place in my mind, which is rare, I can usually get over that dark mood by sleeping on it. I just feel better the next morning. But not everyone can do that...) To think of such a funny, beautiful man being in so much pain is heartbreaking to me.
If Owen W. did intentionally try to end things, I'm immensely grateful that he was unsuccessful and I hope somebody helps him out of the darkness.
Life is precious and every single day is a gift, even though it may not always seem that way. Tonight, I drove home from work on Mulholland Drive and the moon was so big, bright and beautiful over the Hollywood Hills. I really think that the ability to appreciate little moments like that is what keeps you going.
Feel better, Owen. I wanna see you in more movies. And more paparazzi shots of you happy (and shirtless) on the beach in Us Weekly.
---Lots of love, Daniel

Sorry it's been so long since I last blogged here.
After I left TV Guide, I took a week off and then launched full throttle into my new job at SOAPnet / ABC Daytime. I've been ridiculously busy and working very long days! But I'm really enjoying the work.
Just a few things I'd clear to clear up...
My last day at TV Guide was Thursday, July 12. I left on excellent terms and made big good-bye announcements in the magazine and online to let everyone know.
However, my photo & byline stayed up in the Soaps News blog on TVGuide.com for a few weeks after I left. So some people were confused and thought I was--somehow--still working there. Nope!
OK, next. Because I've been so busy, I haven't found time before now to come online and tell you about my new job. I've read all sorts of rumors online about what I'm doing at ABC / SOAPnet. One person thought I just left to go write soap storyline recaps for ABC. Uhhhh... no. If only my life were that easy and simple!
To put it briefly: I'm Senior Producer of Content. That means I'm basically the editor-in-chief of a whole bunch of TV websites --- including SOAPnet.com, The View, AMC, OLTL and GH, I Wanna Be a Soap Star 4 and The Fashionista Diaries.
I write and edit all kinds of stuff, I go to LOTS of ABC / SOAPnet strategy meetings --- and I drink lots of Starbucks to keep my energy up! I can't tell you TOO much of what's happening (confidentiality issues) but I can tell you there's AWESOME stuff coming up over the next year... Soap fans -- and TV fans in general -- are gonna love what I'm up to online.
Meanwhile, I have found time in my busy schedule to post some soaps news online at SOAPnet.com. Click here to read my news reports.
Now that that's out of the way, wanna see a photo from my recent mini-vacation?
I went wine tasting with friends in Santa Barbara, California. Here's me standing in a gorgeous vineyard. I felt like I was on Falcon Crest! You know, that old nighttime sudser set at a winery. (With me, it always goes back to soap operas...)
