battle of the bands heat 1
Current mood: rebellious

BATTLE OF THE BANDS [heat 1 ]

Couldn't help noticing, their where fewer people this year, most of the Herbert's of around Fates age didn't need the grief [last year a bunch of wankers spoiled it for them giving them grief, and the bloke running it wouldn't let them wreck] any way it got under way and first up was Fieldmarshal Goshinger very good, skilled musicians, play a jazz rock type stuff, got the distinct impression they where playing for themselves, and we weren't their.

Next up a young band from Exeter, Lost without lacy, good musically but the lyrics and content lacked bite,[if I hear another song of unfulfilled teen love I'm gonna spew ] did a horrendous version of dancing with myself ,which iv,e never liked anyway ,if they had to do an Idol song Id have thought rebel yell or white wedding would have been better choices.

Next up was Leskye nice and tight, all right but no zip, wouldn't cross the road to see them, but Alice loved them though, and I'm not easy to please.

Then came tom guest bloke on his jack with an acoustic guitar, Tom Guest I enjoyed it a bit of banter with the audience, sing along toward the end, got the first feeling of the night that we were in it together to have fun, again not my thing but alright by me.

A band called Kogent where up next, they had probs to start with, with the sound, but busted on through to arrive at a riotous finale with everyone jumping up and down and responding to when I say jump, how high, that songs always a crowd pleaser, something about bustin a cap in someone's head, the front man was great if a bit of a screamer, and most people had a good time.

On came Always never, now these guys show promise, all good with the chosen instruments, only problem was it was all hung around the front man who was a good guitarist, but insisted on showing of his keyboard skills, which made the first two songs crappy, but they where good once he got over this ,and just played solid ,good sound.

Alice was knackered by this time, so we split [oh shit hippie talk]so sorry to Cryostorm and Cooshee for missing them but if they get through to the final Ill catch em there.

Overall it weren't the best and it weren't the worst

Personally thought it lacked bollocks, and rebellion but that's just me

just as an afterthought ,most of this lot have myspace sites if ya wanna check em out yourself

BONEHEAD,S
Current mood: understimulated

BONEHEAD

When I was little, about nine or ten I remember sitting in the room I shared with me two older brothers and listening to prince buster's al Capone on a little red dansette, over the next few years the skinhead culture slowly invaded my surroundings, musically, there were jem,s that I still remember well on that little machine, desmond dekker 007 ,longshot kicked the bucket, wreck a buddy, pressure drop , skinhead moonstomp and tighten up vol. 2 released in 69,

This was the height of the skinhead movement, Tony the oldest was 16 or17,and wore all the trademark clothes, amazing suits, dog tooth, prince of Wales check and black mohair, crombie,s and, sheepskin coats sta.-press trousers and Levi's ,Ben Sherman shirts, and of course cherry red and black doc martens boots and loafers,he was always in grief it seemed ,had to soak his head off the pillow one morning where the blood had dried and it got stuck, another morning he had a right hand the size of a football and a blokes tooth still stuck in his knuckles, another morning his sheepskin was all burned up when a geezer lobbed a petrol bomb at him during a ruck in burnt oak [we met the bloke about ten years later in Tony's flat in west Hampstead ,but that's a different story] Ron and Jean me sis where also well into it,jean was a stylish skinhead girl and Ron was a yob, cool and hard for his age, remember gangs from other areas would come to spur road for a ruck, and me and the other nipper would collect bricks and bottles and store them in pre arranged ambush sites the local crew was only small so they had to be clever, planning attacks and defences with military prescision, laying traps and ambushes to lead the opposition into ,the bill where always around and when it looked like one of the boys was gonna get stopped, the nippers would hide their tools for them [ knuckle dusters and sharpened steel comb's where common, and the odd sword stick] it sounds mental now but it was great, happy days

just because your paranoid
Current mood: ninja

just because your paranoid don,t mean their not after you

i was down me local garden centre  the other day,so,s the wife could buy some more flowers, any way it,s not really my thing so i was making meself comfy in the open air display area, was settling in for a lazy hour hanging about, when it occurred to me what i needed was some more photo,s of me [don,t you understand i,m in love with myself ] took a few of me sitting at a bench,

thought it would look good with the plants behind me,so i headed toward the edge of the decking

as i turned,so,s the plants where behind me ,a ninja fast as lightning leapt from the roof and attempted to assasinate me,i went crashing backwards through the guard rail,

[guard rail after temp repair ]

and landed face down in among the flowers,

as quick as he had come the ninja was gone as if by magic,i know it was a ninja because i didn,t see hear ,or feel anyone,i wasn,t badly hurt and considered myself lucky to have survived such an encounter,i told my wife and staff at the garden centre ,that i had just leant against the fence and it had just collasped so as not to worry them,so we wll keep the truth between me and you ,why should they live in fear

andy williams
Current mood: blessed

ten years ago today,a mate of mine andy williams [i know his career went down hill when he had the skin pigmentation problem ,he was a black bloke and it was a running joke] died of a blood clot ,on the brain.i was meant to have a drink with him ,but put it off because of work,so that never happened, cos he was gone.

he was a bull of a man about five years younger than me but solid you could trust andy ,with your life

me and harry pulled an alnighter in geneva about a week later and caught the first plane in the morning so we could attend the funeral,we got there about ten mins after the start ,the church was over flowing but still dressed in our work clothes we got inside,to say goodbye,it was an open casket, very spooky,he was a very strange colour, couldnt get me head round how he could just drop down dead like that.

the funeral moved on to wheatstone,i will always remember it as one of the most moving things in me life, must have been a hundred people there at the grave side, the guys he grew up with threw their jackets to the floor and took turns to fill the hole in,while a group of older relatives sang the hymn that marley sang in rasta man chant ,

fly away home to zion

fly away home

one bright morning, when my work is over

i will fly away home

don,t mind admitting,i cried me eyes out, walked out of there in a daze ,didn,t know where i was, didnt know where i was going, just had to walk and be on me own,[selfish i know ]any way i miss him and i believe no one is truely gone if they are remembered, and i will never forget him, wish i had a photo ,but thats life.

a memory

me and andy was working on a job in cologne, and had to go with the rest of the crew to do a break out in dusseldorf, when we got there we found the company we was working for had booked us a  shared room[thats a no no ]they where taking the piss.

me and andy decided to teach them a lesson,we went clubbing all night,to various places[i recall one techno club that had us both in fits of laughter]the call was at eight the next morning and we got back to the hotel at five to , pissed as farts and staggering

the crew boss went mental and asked what we thought we where doing.

we just gave him a silly grin and said neither of us had a room to go to,he said one of us could have used the room,we said that would have left the other on his own

we where useless all day they never did that again ha?

you where great andy mate

about time 1
Current mood: understimulated

After much soul searching I have decided to finally grow up and take a more responsible attitude to my life ,and buckle down to authority and do as I am told , the people in control of my life definitely know what is best for us ,and to constantly question their decisions ,is petty and childish ,with out all the facts how would it be possible to determine if it was right to go into Iraq , I trust these people implicitly and they have the backing of any right minded person, after years of being someone who just follows the crowd and pretending to like music which is questionable ,punk the rabid thrashings of a mad dog , that for its own benefit should be put down for good, reggae the drug addled meanderings of religious fanatics, i think these people could do with some discipline ,and should be forced into the army ,where they might learn some useful skills, and travel the world representing this great nation of ours, i also think that if possible the British empire should be revived as the people that we ruled over ,where much happier in this arrangement, we nurtured and kept them safe, from themselves and others, and they loved and respected us for it,the USA should be reined in as they have no idea that we are obviously, higher up the pecking order than they are as we have the queen and the royal family,I think we should take advantage of opportunities in the world market, for instance ,selling stun batons and restraints to china , mayanmar , Indonesia , and so many other wonderful countries,oh and calculators to Zimbabwe, I will have a think and come back to you all with more ideas

three little words
Current mood: amused

http://s251.photobucket.com/albums/gg303/eekafreak/anarchy/?action=view&current=180px-Anarchy_A_Stencil.jpg" target="_blank">..http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg303/eekafreak/anarchy/180px-Anarchy_A_Stencil.jpg" border="0" alt="anarchy">

THREE LITTLE WORDS

Misuse and misinformation of words like Punk [brings a picture to your mind don’t it ] Anarchy [ oh dear heres another nasty flash ] and even I do it Democracy [ at this point , I would like to highlight the fact that anyone getting a warm fuzzy feeling should stop reading, to me democracy is a word used by people in power to get all the people to think they have a say in what happens to them]

Lets go through them one at a time

PUNK

Scary hey , this word to a majority of sheep was coined by someone that neither new or cared about me and misfits [nice word ] like me in 1976 , they used it in the manner of an insult, to implicate me and others , in all sorts of supposed crimes against society ,at 18 I was branded by that society that , did not like me and my kind ,didn’t want to understand me and my kind and would take every mistake I made ,while discovering who we where and blow it out of all proportion , I was looking for freedom. an identity and a good time , they saw someone who would question what he was told [ it’s not all true you know ] think for himself ,and decide what to do in any given situation for himself ,a little bit sad , a little bit bad ,and totally mad. Which of course I’m not, [depending on your understanding of the word mad, but that’s one for some other time]

I didn’t like what other people liked

I didn’t look like other people

I didn’t react like other people

I didn’t accept authority [why would you]

Oh dear scary, I was me, I didn’t think I was a bad person, I didn’t think I was a punk, now 32 years later the label still follows me around, and I can live with it, but I will never accept it.

ANARCHY [oh lordy call the police]

Iv always seen myself as an anarchist, again just a word, to me it meant everyone gets a choice, gets a say, liberty [ooh? that’s a good word] to me it meant, I could apply my own sense of morality, ethics and principles [ I do have these ,even if I’m a punk ha ha ] to go about the world being me , I wasn’t stupid , I knew the difference between right and wrong ,and got fed up with people telling me what I should think.

I was against thatchers Britain, the oppression of the working classes, the suppression of free will, Israel, Nicaragua and numerous other things [sus law, poll tax better stop now] because they where intrinsically wrong, no I never wanted to blow any one up or run through the streets shooting people indiscriminately for the same reason [to be honest I probably would have quiet happily taken a pot shot at a C. I. A. agent in Nicaragua if id ever been in the situation] on the whole I wasn’t mad. [ooh ? that word again ] I was just trying to be me

DEMOCRACY

This is where I have fun, ah democracy a warm and fuzzy word, the idea ain’t bad, majority rule ,etc etc , how can the majority make an informed choice ,without all the facts a democracy gives us the right of free speech .COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT GIVES THEM THE RIGHT TO GIVE US RIGHTS ,I THOUGHT THEY WHERE OUR RIGHTS ANYWAY . sorry I digress the information given out [by the democracy ] is nearly always bias to a certain viewpoint to mislead people ito believing certain misconceptions being punted by which ever party puts them out ,to me manipulating the facts to make them sound the way you want is lying

How’s that ever gonna work

Seems to me were being used, conned, fucked over by all the parties so what’s the point, democracy will never work under these circumstances, it needs honesty, information, ethics, principles could go on for ever ,anyone who don’t agree get back to me be an anachist,oh and if you agree to, that’s up to you

Oh and if I’m wrong I’m wrong at least I’m trying

pre-emtive counter revolution

oh happy days,i,m reading a book about the spanish civil war,and had an uncontrolable fit of the giggles, after reading a quote from the army, they claimed the revolution was A PRE-EMPTIVE COUNTER REVOLUTION,wonderful, what minds, nice to see dubya isn,t the only one to come up with this sort of comment [as an aside my old man was in iran a couple of month ago and had less grief than he does in egypt, which he visits 3 to 4 times a year,oh and iranians don,t have two heads or a bomb strapped to them at birth]

i remember me dad telling me many years ago, after i,d got into a bit of trouble, that i should say,he was going to hit me ,so i hit him back first[he was joking]

i think everyone should start to talk like this then no one would be to blame for anything, let,s take this back from the polititians and so called world leaders[ha]

let,s show them they are not the only ones who can talk total bullshit,

p.s please send me any examples of the above, as it really makes me laugh

hoping karma is swift

life is a journey

death is a return to earth

the universe is like an inn

the passing years are like dust

regard this phantom world

as a star at dawn,a bubble in the stream

a flash of lightning in a summer cloud

a flickering lamp a phantom and a dream

HOW DARE THEY, HOPING KARMA IS SWIFT

old gits are cool [born before 1970

first,we survived being born to mothers who smoked and drank while they carried us,they took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, mayonnaise, tuna from a can,and didn,t get tested for diabetes.then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright coloured lead based paints.,we had no child proof lids on medicine bottles,or locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes,we had no helmets or pads,as children,we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags,we drank water from a garden hose and not from a plastic bottle, any one buying bottled water would have been laughed at,we would share one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this ,we then collected up the empties from around the local area for pennies,we ate cup cakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it but we weren,t overweight because,WE WERE ALWAYS OUT PLAYING.we would leave home in the morning and play all day,if we got caught srumping real apples from a real tree,we would get a thick ear, nobody called the police or pressed charges,no one was able to reach us all day and we were o k because we were with our mates,as long as we were back when the street lights came on,we would spend hours building go-carts and bikes from stuff we could salvage all over the place, and then ride down hills at breakneck speeds only to find we had forgotten the brakes, after crashing into walls and bushes a few times we would solve any problem,we did not have the latest playstation nintendo or x box,no video games at all,no 99 channels on digital,no video tape movies no surround sound,no mobile phone, p c or internet,we had mates and we went outside and found them,we fell out of trees got cut broke bones and teeth and there were no law suits from the accidents,we ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live on in us forever ,we made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen,we didn,t put out very many eyes,we played war and rode bikes or walked to friends houses and knocked on the door ,or just yelled for them, the idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of,this generation has produced some of the best risk takers, problem solvers and free spirits ever the past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas and new ideaology,we had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned, how to deal with it all,you might wanna show this to others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the goverment regulated our lives for our own good, and while your at it, show it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were, kind of makes you wanna run through the house with scissors, don,t it [i have altered this a little but it is not original, but i loved it that much i had to blog it]
