The Music...and other shit
Current mood: anxious
Category: Music

8 months into this year as we know as 2008 and the world of DarKenD is getting in better shape. We ain't really had a 'new' song in almost 7 months, but that doesn't mean that we haven't been tossing riffs and ideas around in our rehearsal space. We debuted a brand new, yet untitled, thrashing song of ours last weekend @ Friends & Co. in Corinth, Mississippi. The lyrics aren't complete and there's a few riffs and beats that are still a bit wobbly here and there, but all in all, the crowd responded. We have also just recently mapped out a brand new cover song to add to our roster. The ever amazing 'Would?' by Alice In Chains will be played "correctly" very soon. We have quiet a few upcoming shows in this month of August. Saturday August 23rd in Lexington, Tennessee and Saturday August 30th in Columbia, Tennessee. If you live near those areas, come out and lend an ear. Hopefully, and we mean hopefully, we'll have a demo all cut, mastered and copied for your purchase (or possibly free) by fall with all BRAND NEW songs. It's been since June 2006 since we've even put out a descent full recording of our material so we're definitely anxious. So, the world of DarKenD is only gonna get darker, heavier, and hopefully more spread out in the near future because we're fucking ready to roll

Rock Hero Promotions and shifting into high gear
Current mood: hopeful
Category: Music

This ain't exactly an "update". Almost 7 months into the new year that we know as 2008 and we realize.....we have no merch or a new c.d......but, that's about to change. We've released 2 of the new songs right here on MySpace earlier this year and we're back in the writing process again. We trash more riffs and lyrics than we actually keep, and we also trash songs. We want good songs that represent exactly where we stand internally and externally today so it's a very tough task to please our own ears. It's been a fun year so far. Alot of "first timers" for us and I think we have found where brotherhood is.

ROCK HERO PROMOTIONS is the greatest thing that has happened for metal bands in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. Lee & Zack are fucking pioneers and the Corinth, Mississippi area has by far the greatest, most original bands in the south. Thrush, Bush Hog Suicide, Distilled Blood just to name a few. I don't know how those guys view it, but live in our goddamn town for a few months and you'll see that there is NO fucking hope for metal bands here. Rock Hero has a great thing going and we know that it will only get better. The bands will only get heavier and the crowd will only grow larger. We feel fucking blessed that we are even able to be a part of that scene. There has never been a bad show (with the exception of June 21 when the cops shut it down). If us and these bands and Rock Hero continues this, I personally think that great things will soon happen. Ears aren't pointed in the southeastern part of the United States, just as they weren't pointed to LA and San Francisco when bands like Metallica and Slayer proved that hair metal wasn't where it was at. The same as they weren't pointed at Texas when Pantera made'em fucking listen. It's all about brotherhood, it's all about merging together and forming a fucking army to plow through these grounds. Attention isn't given...it's taken. There's way too fucking much talent and dedication within this 50+ mile radius to be wasted. Compilation c.d's and more shows has to be must in the future for local bands. In our 3 short years of hitting it hard and going broke and playing show after show.....nothing tops what Rock Hero puts together. The closest thing to it was The Rock Music Fest in our town, but without the Mississippi scene...it wouldn't have been as great. Two horns up to Lee and everyone involved.....we hope to reamain a part of it for many many more shows.

On The Dark Side
Current mood: anxious

So now we're on a fresh start. We're beginning to write all new material for the first time in a LONG time. Rehearsing our asses off and have a list of shows throughout the year under our belt. We've made some great and irreplacable friends along our ride. We got the spot for the BODOG BATTLE OF THE BANDS audition on October 28, 2007. We made it through that @ Newby's in Memphis, TN. Played with some great bands too. Went back to the same place again for the second round on December 7. We didn't get picked to advance but did win the online wildcard round to go to The Loft in Atlanta, Georgia on February 9, 2008 to play the Semi-Regional Finals. As you can see, we weren't picked but it was a fun ride and some great memories. Being from the shithole town that we are, we have organized a festival that's to take place on May 31 at our local fairgrounds. We've hand picked bands in our area and beyond, 10 totalling, to play this all day fest. We really feel that these bands are the very best bands in the southeast and we are hoping for a great turn out. We are playing as well. Anyway, just updating what's been going on in our world. Like was siad before, we're writing and recording material and hopefully we'll have a disc that we're proud of and actually sounds good to put into your ears this summer. And as always before, we couldn't be trendy if we tried, I guess we're fucking immune to it or something....so our new material will be....................you'll find out when you hear it....much love & respect.....|m|

2008, hopefully a NEW year
Current mood: argumentative

Knocking on our 3rd year in May. Our rehearsal space has been faithful to us, aside from a leaking roof that has caused a rotting ceiling that eventually rotted the floor...it somehow managed to survive an F1 tornando and numerous wind storms. We've yet to see a county patrol car pull up in the driveway on count of noise, we've yet to have cops bust in on us period....so we can't complain too much, things have been good to us in a sense. Winter time is hopefully about gone so we won't be so dependent upon a single kerosene heater that takes a few hours to even kill the chill in the air...all just in time for the 100 + degree weather that hits Alabama during the spring and summer, which causes our rehearsal room to feel like 150 degrees with NO air conditioning and NO fan. We're struggling, we want it that damn bad...we play "no show" shows with the same bands at the same places over and over again for 50 bucks or so if we're lucky, and then that 50 bucks has to be split between 4 people. So money? We really don't know what that shit is. But guess what, WE AIN'T GONNA STOP! No matter how big hardcore gets, how black they dye their hair, how loud they scream, how queer they dress, how fast they play, how pierced they are, how many scene kids do the stupid ass monkey dances they do, how bad ass little wimpy barely legal frontmen act....we're always gonna do what we do because to US, that's the whole point in having a band....to NOT sound like everyone else, to not even come close to anyones style. And you'll always have that group of stupid ass kids that don't know shit about music to begin with along with what their faggot magazines and MYSPACE friends tell them come to you or excuse us, go behind your back, and say that you ain't this and you ain't that....who gives a fuck what a little shit that wears his sisters clothes thinks about your band.....let them reign supreme with their Bury Your Dead, Bleeding Through, It Dies Today, (blow)Job For A Cowboy, Black Dahlia Murder bullshit that every group is copying....go their own way. Anxious to see what 2008 is gonna bring musically and personally....looking forward

A few words and new things......
Current mood: Eager, determined, and thoughtful

Metal is so fucking underrated, it's ridiculous the way it is viewed by all these closed minded people. We're a metal band trying to get some recognition in the "bible-belt" Churches on every fucking corner and venues within 50 miles of eachother. And to top that off, most of them won't let metal bands play. It's sick, and it pisses us off. Instead of all these metal and hardcore bands around here trying to fucking "compete" with eachother, we need to get together and take this shit over......outnumber the motherfuckers so they'll have no choice but to hear us. There is soooooooo much talent around here and it's never recognized and probably never will be. We've been going at this shit for two years head on and we can't say that we haven't progressed because we have.....there's down times and up times too. The world needs music, the youth NEEDS metal before they go on a killing spree and end everyones life. So here's a salute to all bands around our area that support us or have jammed with us......you know who you are and let's not let this shit die..........show the rest of the world that alongside of all the cousin fuckers, farm animal fuckers, hillbillies, hypocrits, bums, banjo players, cowboys, and all that other stereotypical bullshit in Alabama.....that on the otherside....there's a bunch of pissed off metal heads that have a thing or two to say.

We've got an additional member now and a handful of new songs that's gonna make your ears bleed........"The Gathering", "Scapegoat", "Life Again", "Dog Of War", "Sin Of The South", "Backwards Crawl", and "Infliction".........it's only just begun. I would like to thank my brothers and bandmates, Brandon Murphy, Rantz Tussey, and Josh Stewart for sticking to this shit with me and helping to create the blasphemy. We're not done yet
