Detroit This Weekend - Now Accepting Donations for Las Vegas July 4th
Current mood: adventurous
Category: Travel and Places

Yes, that's right... David K. is about to be on the loose again. My friend Brian invited me to visit him in Detroit this weekend. We're celebrating his birthday (which was Monday, June 16th) and the official opening of the pool at his new house. I'm really excited to go, but for more reasons than I have time to list... I'm just grateful that he surprised by using his airline miles to get my ticket.

I've needed a vacation and the last time I was able to take one was Christmas when my father took our family to Las Vegas. Speaking of Vegas, my parents will be celebrating their wedding anniversary and my mother's birthday over the 4th of July holiday. I'm trying to get the money together for my airline ticket, but it's not been easy.

I set-up a collection with Fundable and if you can, feel free to visit my page on there and pledge a few dollars to help me meet them. You can start as low as $15 and it's secured by PayPal.

People On MySpace Who Block "Non-Friends" From Sending Them Messages Annoy Me!
Current mood: irritated
Category: MySpace

My newest online frustration is when someone on MySpace sends me a message, but blocks incoming messages from users that aren't on their Friend list.  When I try to reply (either to be polite or because I actually want to have a conversation) it gets bounced back and I have no way of contacting them... Well, that is unless I add them as a friend, hope it is approved, and then resend the message.  Honestly, by that time I doubt it was as important as it was when I first wanted to send it, but I digress.

I encourage you to use MySpace's privacy controls.  They work and I generally appreciate the practical ones.  Just don't get carried away and add settings that prevent people (not just anyone, but someone you already sent a message to) from corresponding with you.

Thanks for listening.  I appreciate you. :)

Dear Jon
Current mood: argumentative
Category: Life

As usual, today gave me another fun life lesson and reminder: You can't tell someone's "tone of voice" from an email.

Point in question:  My friend Jon uploaded some new pics to
his MySpace profile
. He recently posted a bulletin that no one reads his posts or keeps up with his profile, so I decided to leave a comment to let him know that I saw his update.  Here is the conversation following my comment, which jokingly read "You're such a dork..."  Start at the bottom as his last reply is on top.

Message from Jon

Dear Jon,

In response to your last message, there are several points that I would like to make.

1. I was kidding.  I wouldn't start an insult and then end it with "Have a great remainder to your day."

2. My MySpace friends are people I have actually met and I would not waste time meeting someone in person just to be rude to them online.

3. What reputation are you referring to when you say that "its guys like you that give gay guys a bad reputation"??  Apparently it's not the reputation that we have for good grammar and proper spelling that you are helping us achieve (and just so you will know, that was me being mean).  I won't speculate on what you are talking about and I hope that you eventually find happiness in being yourself and not in attacking others who have already found peace and success in life.

4. Were you honestly trying to come back at me by saying I'm short and don't eat?  Seriously?  That's all you could come up with?  I'm 5'10" and today I weigh 147 lbs (which arguably is about 6 lbs heavier than my ideal weight, but I'm not going to stop eating to slim down a little).

5. I am not fake.  Actually, I'm probably one of the realest people you'll ever meet.  I talk to people because I like to be nice to people.  I take interest in their lives because I appreciate others.

Although I don't feel like I have to defend myself, I want you to know that I tried to reply to your message immediately with an apology, but you had already deleted me from your friends list, preventing me from sending it or viewing your profile (a very adult thing to do, by the way).  Then I tried to call you on your cell phone and it rang twice and then a Verizon recording picked up.  I won't imply anything and perhaps you have since changed numbers (I tried (404) XXX-2754).

Please know that I have better things to do with my time than to send insults through MySpace (which is surprising considering that I found the time to blog about this, so maybe I don't have anything better to do).  I apologize for being rude and I look forward to seeing you the next time you're in Midtown.  Don't worry - I'll be the bigger person and say "hello" even though you all but told me off today.

Sincerely,
David Kuntowski

squidoo.com is sooo cool
Current mood: creative
Category: Blogging

I know, I'm a total dork.  I can't help it!  I'm a marketer at heart... it's just what I do.

squidoo.com is a social networking site that allows users to combine lots of different elements about one idea all on one page.

Check out the Lens (they call each page a "lens" because it focuses on one thing like a camera) that I created all about me.

Big Gay Supper Club
Current mood: flirty
Category: Parties and Nightlife

BGSC has become one of my favorite things to do... it's a great chance to meet new people, see old friends, and enjoy an amazing meal at a fabulous Atlanta restaurant.  Their 5th anniversary is this year and it will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 16th at Floataway Cafe.  My normal date for these events is Kirsten, but due to a last minute visit from her husband's family she will be unable to attend.

Let me know if you would like to join me... I already bought the tickets, so all you'll have to do is pay for your drinks (and depending on how cute you are, I might pay for those too).

Dinner starts at 7:00 p.m. and I'm usually up for whatever afterward (except Halo because I always get into trouble there).  For those of you who know me, you know that we'll have amazing fun.  Again, if you're interested let me know!

I Appreciate Alice Ghostley
Current mood: amused
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Perhaps it's my second glass of the delicious Pinot Grigio that I found chilling in a storage refrigerator at our Dallas property (where I am currently working), or maybe her comedic timing really is that great.  Alice Ghostley is an amazing actress and I'm watching my second-in-a-row episode of "Designing Women.." to my great delight.  It also makes me wonder about my appreciation for Dixie Carter's character of Julia Sugarbaker.  I used to think that I was similar to her and I had forgotten about that comparison because I was recently described by my best friend Alec as a mixture between Janice Dickinson and Judge Judy Scheindlin.   Alec's description is pretty accurate; especially since I record "Judge Judy" on my DVR every day.

I have started to research Alice Ghostley (by the way, she played Bernice Clifton on "Designing Women") on YouTube and I forgot that she played Samantha's next door neighbor on "Bewitched."  She was always telling on them and observing strange behavior.  I remember watching her on the DW reunion show that was on Lifetime several months ago and she apparently isn't doing that well and she needed help standing.

I appreciate you, Alice!  Thanks for being so wonderful and I can't wait to discovering you all over again through some of your old appearances.
