FOLD U.S. CANDIDATE
Current mood: adventurous
Category: Art and Photography
One of my favorite artist friends here in the city, Adi Marom who specializes in folded design projects created this wonderful site, Fold U.S. Candidate, where anyone can print out images and instructions on how to create a finger puppet of any one or all 3 of the mainstream contenders for the next U.S. Presidential election. Feel free to cross post this on your blog, link it, pass it on to friends, family, political rivals, etc....

MAILART EXCHANGE WITH CANADIAN HIGH SCHOOL ART CLASS
Current mood: bouncy
Category: Art and Photography
As some of you probably already know, I've been incredibly interested in the world of MailArt and last year I initiated my own MailArt call based on portraits. The only rule I have is that any person who sends me their interpretation of a portrait will receive a portrait from me in return. Since last May, I've received somewhere over 100 pieces of MailArt, (mostly portraits), from 13 different countries, France being the most represented, as well as from 13 States in the U.S. In turn i have sent out over 100 handprinted postcards.
I've been communicating with High School Art Instructor, Barbara Burns, in Alberta Canada over the past year and somewhere along the way I mentioned that it would be fun to do a MailArt exchange with her students. I have fond memories of exchanging a handmade felt, (made from raw wool, start to finish), envelope and letter with all of the wording embroidered with an artist named Sas Colby while I was in High School and thought that I'd like to turn the tables and be the artist on the other end. Barbara agreed to the idea and incorporated a MailArt project into her curriculum with this years students and in addition to myself, a number of other artists have jumped aboard and are exchanging artwork with her classes as well.
Today I received the package with a bundle of 11 students decorated envelopes with their Artist Trading Cards or postcards included as well as a wonderful gift from Barbara Burns the instructor.
Below is one example of what I received, the rest of the images are posted on my Portrait Mail Art Blog

SELF PORTRAIT - 20 YEARS AGO - BEAUTIFUL HAIR!!!!!!!!
Current mood: amused
Category: Art and Photography
So I decided at the last minute to visit family in Ct. this past weekend. It's a bit like going to a museum of my work in my parents house as my mom has pretty much everything I've given to her up on the walls throughout the house. I figured that this time around i'd share with you the self-portrait I did some time around 1984 or so in my oil painting class the first year in college. I have a particular fondness for my hairstyle, as time has gone by I have less and less hair to play with. So far I've gotten "Farrah Fawcett" and "Dukes of Hazzard" by the way of comments from friends.
While in Ct. I also found a new place to hike, you can check out more pics in my Berube Blog.

TOM THE TURKEY SAYS, "THANKS FOR NOT EATING ME THIS YEAR".
Current mood: amused
Category: Art and Photography
A few years ago a friend of mine in North Carolina had a turkey that she had raised from a baby who as he grew up became quite accustomed to following her around the yard and if you weren't careful into the house as well. He became much more than the turkey that he was.
She also had a number of large dogs who weren't to keen on Tom The Turkey moving in on their turf...... End of story.
So I created this piece in memory of Tom.
