Hi Everyone,

2 of the actors from Trapped have posted auditions in a contest sponsored by Massify, which is a filmmakers social site along the lines of My Space.

The top ten female actress auditions and the Top 10 male actor auditions will be eligible to be flown to Los Angeles for a chance to creen test to be in the next After Dark film horror fest film.

Both of these actors are very talented, and I want to see them both succeed, so please head on over and give them each a vote. (Does require registration)

Josh Davidson - http://www.massify.com/auditions/603

Joe Durbin - http://www.massify.com/auditions/621

You can also post your own actor/actress bio, resume, and reel.

You can catch Joe and Josh in my upcoming film Trapped set for release this fall.

Current mood: amused
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

It has been over a year since the original release of Deadlands: The Rising, and almost a year since the TEMPE VIDEO Release and Theatrical Screening. When we arranged the theatrical screening I had 10 posters printed to celebrate the occassion. 6 of those posters had the One Night Only Theatrical Release information printed on the poster and 4 of them had the April 17th DVD release info. I have put one the last 2 THEATRICAL posters on eBay. I am keeping the very last one for myself.

So here is your chane to own one of only 6 Theatrical posters ever made. Now as I stated 10 were produced conatining the same exact artwork, but only 6 had theatrical information on them. This poster will also be signed prior to shipment.

13:10 - Still need your help... Zombie Film production
Current mood: hopeful
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Hi folks,

we are 3 days away from rolling cameras on Trapped and while we have a minimal budget at the moment we could use your help to raise a little more scratch for the production.

We have brought back our eBay listing one more time in hope of raising an additional $900 by Friday. Although we haven't met our overall goal yet, we are still working hard to get the $$$ we need, but we also want to make sure we bring something quality to all the zombie fans out there. We are set to roll regardless of meeting the ultimate goal which was $10,000 dollars (which I am proud to say we are only $5800 away from) but this additional $900 we need to raise is so we can make the zombie gore and mayhem the best it can be on our scaled back script.

Some may frown upon these blogs and bulletins looking for cash, but you as the fans of horror films are in the best position to help us, the filmmakers. It is the indie guys who have stayed true to the genre... while Hollywood continues to bring you watered PG-13 horror films in hopes of snagging your almight dollar.

So, here is your chance to make something happen, and be apart of an experience only a select few get to enjoy with privilege and prestiege.

Click Here and Help out the Folks Making TRAPPED

As little as $25.00, plus you get some eBay feedback and a copy of the screenplay.

13:44 - Another positive Review for Deadlands: The Rising

From trashfilmorgy.com

link: http://trashfilmorgy.com/2007/microbudget-massacre5.htm

Several radio in-jokes are presented in Deadlands: The Rising, a no-budget zombie video made by Wet and Wild Radio's Gary Ugarek and distributed by Splatter Rampage, yet another division of Tempe. Someone acts surprised at the radio getting the news out, even with the TV signal out.

The movie uses zombies sparingly, and focuses on the human reaction to sudden zombie infestation. 28 Days Later comes to mind. The movie utilizes both fast and slow zombies. It doesn't linger on close-ups of the zombies and relies on smooth editing to obscure any flaws.

The acting is no worse than any other microbudget movie, and some's even decent. Doesn't try to cram a bunch of "edgy" comic relief at us, it's just a straightforward realistic drama about the survivors as they make their way to a "secure" shelter to become undead appetizers.

Several good set pieces stick out. The traffic jam on the road was well done, and I liked the scene where the mom runs over a zombie while she tries to reassure her little boy that everything is OK, and towards the end, when the two dudes have to escape the undead.

Thank God it moves fast and dirty, and is actually fairly interesting for a no-budgeter. Effective creepy music is used throughout to create tension, but I was hoping the foreboding music was leading for a bigger dramatic payoff. I guess they had to re-write the script due to money and location problems. I enjoyed the film, yet it felt unfinished. Here's hoping you find more money next time, guys! 13:54 - Raising Funds for New Zombie Film
Current mood: artistic
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO BE INVOLVED IN FILM PRODUCTION? Well here is your chance... Please read on!

This is your chance to be an Associate Producer/Executive Producer/ or Regular Producer on a zombie film project. The people behind Deadlands: The Rising are once again raising the dead for another zombie feature film. The film is titled Trapped, and it is about 6 strangers stuck inside a megaplex movie theater during a zombie outbreak.

Synopsis: When the US government decides to test a new biological weapon on the occupants of a small city, all hell breaks loose and it leaves 6 strangers to fend off hordes of the undead in a fight for survival and hope of escape. Director Gary Ugarek (Deadlands: The Rising) will be helming the film based on a short story written by him titled The Escape.

Trapped is set to begin filming September 28, 2007 in Hagerstown, MD USA. Funds brought into the production budget from this eBay auction will be used to expand action and zombie gore sequences in the film.  The following information will pertain to specific credits:

Associate Producer - When you click the buy it now option and you choose a quantity between 1 and 4 items ($20-$80) you will be credited in the film as an associate producer. You will in addition receive the Screenplay for Trapped (screenplay will be delivered electronically via email)

Executive Producer - An Executive Producer credit is earned when you purchase a quantity of 5-25 ($100-$500) units using the Buy It Now Option. In addition you will receive the screenplay for Trapped and a bonus DVD with the working Print of Deadlands: The Rising (the directors first film) which contains a never before seen ending. (The work print is delivered in DVDR Timecode marked format, screenplay will be delivered electronically)

Producer - To obtain the credit of Producer you will need to purchase a quantity of 26 or more units ($520 and Up). You will also be sent the screenplay for Trapped, the work print DVD for Deadlands: The Rising as well as the commercial release of Deadlands: The Rising (new and Sealed) The screenplay will be delivered electronically and the DVD's will be shipped in 14-20 days and will arrive via USPS first class mail.

PURCHASES EXCEEDING $1000.00 - Any person purchasing more than $1,000.00 into the TRAPPED production budget can contact the filmmaker directly through email and exercise an option for Investment return if they choose. The purchase must exceed $1000.00 and cannot be combined with other purchases (meaning it must be a sole purchase of $1000.00 or more.) Please us the following email address for more information [garyugarek@playingwithdeadthings.com]

Once Trapped is completed, the premiere will be in the late summer of 2008 in Hagerstown, and Baltimore MD, and it will have a one screen Theatrical Run in the fall of 2008.

Each persons name will be added to the films end title credits. (The film will have no opening credits). In addition once the film is completed and released each participants name will be added with other production data when the film is submitted to IMDB.COM (Internet Movie Database). Also a separate Featuette Video is being produced in which the director will talk about the program and all the individuals whom participated in the producer credit program will have their name mentioned and credited. The approximate running time for the featurette is 5 minutes and will be produced during the making of Trapped and uploaded to the films official website. Each participant will be notified once the video is online and a copy of this featurette will be made available to all producers once the film is completed.

Once Trapped has completed principal photography and all post production work, each participant will receive a watermarked work print of the film. This watermarked workprint will contain your name which will displayed at the top edge of the picture. This is done for security reasons. Through this eBay producers credit program we have raised nearly $2100.00 and we are only $7900 away from our goal. As of 09/12/07 the total production budget raised is $3100 dollars. Even if we do not meet the complete goal the film will proceed as scheduled, the scenes the money is being raised for will be cut back for budgetary reasons. The extra monies raised through this program would be used to expand on a zombie takeover sequence that requires nearly 200 extras and EMT personnel.

A Distribution deal is in place once Trapped is completed and can be exercised at the discretion of the copyright owner (Gary Ugarek). Every attempt will be made to secure the widest possible distribution for Trapped upon its completion.

*** DISCLAIMER *** The Trapped Producers Credit Program is a donation to the film production and does not guarantee or imply an investment that will earn purchasing individuals returns on gross or net percentages of final domestic or international grosses from said film(s). The Applicable Producer credit will appear during the end credits in special section marked "ASSOCIATE/EXECUTIVE or PRODUCER. Each purchaser will receive, in email, a copy of the short version screenplay immediately upon receipt of payment, and will receive the extend screenplay once the final draft is secured by copyright and approval. Purchasers may not sell or use the screenplay without express written permission from Gary Ugarek. The films expected completion from Post Production is Late Summer/Fall 2008. A legitimate world premiere for the film will be held and advertised, and said film will be enterted into Horror themed film festivals around the globe upon completion. Purchasers will have no written or spoken say in regards to content, or story line, and the final cut of the film will be up to the films director. If you have any questions before purchasing please email the production at theescapemovie@yahoo.com.

07:49 - DEADLANDS: The Rising No. 1 Selling title in TEMPE ENT catalog for 2007
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Just found out from my distributor that Deadlands is the best selling title in his catalog for 2007 out of all 2007 releases. The 2 film sold less than half the amount of copies so Deadlands enjoys a very comfortable lead up top. Now that we have the 2000 record, I would like to get the record for their entire catalog for all time.

22:31 - Halloween 2007 - Which is worse Work print or Theatrical cut
Current mood: irritated
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

I just returned from the theatrical cut and I thought the work print was bad... the work print is academy worthy next to this POS.

This movie was laughable, literally laughable. The audience spent more time laughing at the movie then with the movie. You know I will give Rob some credit, the kills in this are really off the wall violent, down right brutal, but doesn't make up for the 100 minutes of total crap I had to sit through. I thought this was supposed to be an improvement over the work print. I originally gave the work print a 5 out of 10... the theatrical cut doesn't even deserve a 2 it is that friggin bad. So I am lowering my rating to a 3.

The best parts of this film are the exchange between Myers mom and her white trash boyfriend, the murders and the cinematography. Note that when I say cinematography I mean overall look, not how the camera moves. I will also say Sherri Moon did a pretty decent job acting, not bad with what little experience she has... other than that, this film is horrible in every sense of the word.

The dialog and overall story are amateur, the pacing is total crap, some of the dialog and acting of Malcolm McDowell is god awful eye rolling dribble, and worst of all I thought I was watching a first attempt at film making. I can't believe this came from the same man whom did the awesome Devil's Rejects. WTF was he thinking to take on something like this?

Rob, please do us all a favor and don't touch another classic horror franchise. I wanted to see you do a zombie movie next, too be honest I would rather see you stick to being a musician.

I implore all of you deciding to go see this too not bother. Save your $9.00 and go see something else. Trust me do not go see this trash.

Some pet peeves:

Rob - you don't use 2.35:1 as your aspect ratio when everything you shoot is in extreme close-up. 2.35:1 is reserved for an epic style of filming when the use of wide angles and large depths need to be achieved. Carpenter used 2.35:1 effectively in the original film, your use of it is a waste of $$$$ to get the cameras fitted to shoot anamorphic.

Rob - Although Sherri did her best work in halloween 2007 compared to the rest of her acting resume did you really need to focus on her stripping for so long. The male audience gets it... she smoking, but we don't need her shoved in our faces like this... honestly it just turned me off to her completely. Did we need her dancing on stage that long, it felt like you were trying to showcase her as opposed to establish a women tormented by having to use the pole to make ends meet. You have a character who seems to generally care about her son and family, but you turn her into some white trash whore, and it doesn't mix well. You sholuld have seen this coming shame on you for subjecting us to this completely fucked sequence.

Rob - LOVE HURTS... WTF? having that song and showing Michael sitting on the curb all alone made me laugh hysterically. We are supposed to be a fraid of Muchael Myers not fucking sympathize with him, or feel bad for him. You have this moment that is supposed to make the audience feel bad and just when you do you make him into some monster 5 minutes later... you need to work on this aspect of your writing because you failed miserably at trying to mesh these 2 items together.

Rob - trim 20 minutes off this movie and for god sakes lose the shot of Loomis in the gun store. My god that was laughable with him doing some vigilante stance when trying out the gun. Not too mention when Michael busts the cop car window to grab laurie you have him say What The Hell on the Theatrical edit, which comes off hokey as opposed to having him trying to reason with Michael which he does effectively in the work print.

Also, trim the death scenes down a bit, you lost whatever momentum you had to shock the audience with the brutality by making the death scenes go on for so long. Just when you had the audience you let it go on too long and they started laughing at the film because of absurd it all seemed, tis a shame because you know how to make shit disturbing and some of it was, but the overall disturbed feel is lost in long drawn out shots.

Good things -

THANK YOU for trimming down the interaction between the girls that was getting fucking Annoying in the work print. at least it came off better in the theatrical print.

There are some many moments from the work print and the theatrical cut that if put together would make a way better Halloween film. Overall you did a piss poor job and only proved that remakes are pointless and usually hacked up by the filmmakers. The only decent remakes are The Thing, and Dawn of the Dead. I had such high hopes for this Rob, but goddamn man.
