Last week’s show...Check it out!

I love Dead Rock West [http://www.myspace.com/deadrockwest]. Yes, love. In italics, no less. Great band, great people. I first met the guys - and Cindy - in Bellingham over a year ago, sharing a bill with DRW and John Doe at the Nightlight. I'd been looking for an excuse to play with them since and the Scene Bar seemed good enough. If Dead Rock West is coming anywhere near you, make a point to catch the show.
It was also a pleasure meeting the guys from Travel by Sea [http://www.myspace.com/travelbysea]. I'd been arguing about records and baseball with Kyle for a couple of years now, but hadn't actually met the guy. I believe they've got a record release show coming up at the Mint, so if you're in the LA area, check 'em out.
As for us, we had a decent week. We've been playing the majority of these tunes for about a year now and while I'm by no means tired of them, I think we're all looking forward to getting back into the studio come September. That said, it's always nice to take a week or so and remind ourselves that we actually like one another.
We'll be back out sometime soon but, for now, we've got a record to make. See you when we see you.

Unlike Love
Category: Writing and Poetry
the guitar has been glued back together more times than i can recount so i named it Christine after a car in a stephen king novel it rests face down against a chair in the other room and sings a silent song like a mute siren willing me to touch
i unconsciously replay again my outstretched arm above my head, my hand being crushed and dragged down down down 1920's elevator shaft the machine descending quietly, gracefully even without regret or remorse
me, observing and mute committed to surrender my will to a silent heartless appliance made of wires and pulleys and a cage of steel and wood
i had been wondering about love and loss only moments before, unsure, wanting. and was given this to think on instead: that i love my life and i don't wanna die!
throbbing, a heartbeat in my wrist it could have been otherwise
the ocean feels right outside my window an infinite celophane sparkle with sunlight dancing like water bugs on a pond
i dreamed thickly, a prescription induced haze like an oil can amber flow you skated across the floor in flannel you floated slowly you came like a warning but did not speak
i heard silence and i sensed you gliding darkly i saw flesh disolved by friction and pressure
washing vicodine down with a hot cup of coffee oh, how it could have been worse ripped away like love
but unlike love i would have not been given another dance
