Ian Gillan pays tribute to Jeff Healy in Toronto May 3rd.


Jeff Healy appeared on Gillan's Inn playing the solo to When A blind Man Cries. A bond was created between the two.


Ian Gillan will be appearing at the Jeff Healy tribute on May 3rd at The Sound Academy (Formerly known as The Docks) in Toronto.
The following artists will also appears: Randy Bachman, Jimmy Bowskill, Jack Bruce, Alan Frew, Jerome Godboo, Greg Godovitz, Jeff Healey's Blues Band, Jeff Healey's Jazz Wizards, Chuck Jackson, Colin James, Danny Marks, Matt Minglewood, Alannah Myles
Rob Quail, Joe Rockman, Pat Rush, Tony Springer, David Wilcox, (and other guests to be announced)

For the upcoming tour in Europe, they are offering three levels of packages. Purple Envy includes a meet & greet with the band, a backstage tour, early entry, and a merchandise package. Purple Flame is a backstage tour, early entry, and merch pack. Purple Charm includes early entry and a merch pack.

This time around they are also offering a great ticket to the show for many of the dates. Packages are being offered for the following shows:

On a different note - apparently, in the USA, on this myspace site you can see a music store selling music from other bands. The webmaster here can’t see it as the webmaster is based outside USA but have seen screenshots of it. Myspace support has been contacted about it as this store and the artists have nothing to do with Deep Purple nor is the store or the artists endorsed by Deep Purple.

READ THIS FIRST!

Hello everybody


I think it is time to answer some of the very frequent questions in a blog.

One that constantly pops up is "Is this the real Deep Purple?"
Yes it is. If you go to www.deep-purple.com (the truly official site)you will see that there is a link back to this myspace site (the truly official myspace Deep Purple site). Now - if you thought that it would be a band member sat by the computer updating this (or www.deep-purple.com) than you are sadly wrong. Both these sites are updated and maintained by the band's webmaster. This also means that you will not receive any comments to your music or band or on your site as the webmaster would then be impersonating the band.

The other frequent question is "Can I have an autograph?"
Unfortunately this is not possible. I have no signed photos or memorabilia. It would be rather difficult to arrange signed items especially dedicated ones as the band live in different ends of the world and when they tour they are very busy.

"Why aren't they playing my town/country?" or "When are they playing my town/country?" or "I have heard that they will play x town/country but can't find it in the tourdates list. Why is that?"

Why - probably as it didn't fit the schedule.
When - if you don't see it on the tour dates page on www.deep-purple.com it is probably not happening.
Can't find the date - same answer as "When"

The official site will ONLY list dates that have been confirmed. Just because you have seen tickets on sale does not mean the gig is confirmed. When the band's management tells me to post dates I will. Those dates are then confirmed.

Then again - nothing is really confirmed until you see it happening :)

"Why isn't smoke on the water posted here?"
Deep Purple has a HUGE catalog of music. They are still touring and recording new material so to show that the band isn't just all about the past this site is to show that they are all about the present as well. That is why.

"Why can't I add a song to my profile? I want my friends to hear this."
Tell your friends to go to www.myspace.com/deeppurple instead.

"Why can't I download any of the songs?"
If I set the songs to be downloadable I would be breaking the law. Simple as that, really.

"Hrf blubb gargle klof strif?"
Did you understand that? Neither did I. If you have a question that hasn't been answered here, please do send it to me but write in ENGLISH! You stand a much better chance of actually receiving a response if you do.

"I am a promoter and I would like to book the band for a concert."
Please send an e-mail to info@deep-purple.com with some details.

"I am a photographer/writer and I want to photograph/review/interview the band."
Please send an e-mail to press@deep-purple.com including some credentials that can be checked. Please note that when it comes to festivals you should contact the promoter. And to increase your chances of receiving a photopass - have your department editor or the writer apply for them. Photographers - you need to be on assignement.

Please do not ever send attachments to me. They will be deleted without viewing!

Now - is the band on tour?

Indeed they are. Go check out www.deep-purple.com/tourdates for the confirmed shows. If you go you might be lucky and bump in to one or two of them and maybe then could you ask for an autograph.

Thank You MySpace

A while back we started an official MySpace site. Some of you may have noticed that it suddenly disappeared. After some investigation it turnes out it got phished and deleted.

A big thank you to Mr A.G. at MySpace Music Support for all the help as not only is the account re-instated but we also got the perfect URL for it. You can now find the official Deep Purple MySpace site at http://www.myspace.com/deeppurple

The only thing we need to do is start all over again with the design, the friend requests, the song upload....
