04.13.08 – Goodbye Baz… Enter Heet, Pt. 2

After nearly six years, Barry Krippene has stepped away from his role in DESA. While we'll miss him a lot, we understand his decision. Barry has a family in Lodi, CA and was driving 140 miles round trip twice a week to practice. He has decided it's time to move on and to stay close to home.
We couldn't be more excited, however, about our latest addition. Taking over bass duties will be Steven's brother, Brett Heet. Brett has mixed sound for DESA a few times, he's a phenomenal bassist, he plays it with his fingers and he's got awesome hair. He also shares common DNA with Steven, so if either of them ever need a transplant, we'll have it covered!
Please do us a big favor and come out April 19th to Bottom of the Hill for Brett's debut show. We go on at 10pm sharp, stick around after to see Built for the Sea and Facing New York and to buy Brett a welcome-to-the-band drink!

From our perspective, this is actually EP 3. EP 2 (the Revenge Body EP) is currently being mixed by Matt Embree. We'll go ahead and take things out of chronological order. So here they are, three new songs! In the grand scheme of things, this is the shortest amount of time that has passed between our writing of songs, getting them recorded, and putting them out for someone to hear. Big thanks to Adam Myatt and Ryan Massey. Enjoy!

12.14.06 - VIDEO VACATION

Here's something new for everyone: a video for the last song on the new album "We Must Be Brave." It's pretty true to what we've been up to lately. You can see the warehouse we live in, the futon hundreds of random friends have slept on, and Aaron's cat. It was recorded and edited by Andrew Juncker and Adam Davis. It would have been finished earlier but they were busy playing Resident Evil 4, drinking retarded amounts of coffee and growing beards.
Heet is moving here December 21st. We will be in the practice space December 22nd. We have shows December 29th (San Francisco) and December 30th (Salinas), both with Judgement Day. They have a brilliant trailer up to promote the show on their website: www.stringmetal.com
In case you didn't hear, our merch bins were stolen out of our trailer. That means there's an army of crack heads out there rocking DESA shirts. A few of you have ordered shirts since this happened, so we'll do our best to get new shirts printed soon to fill your orders.

10.25.06 - GNARLY BUGS

We were supposed to play at Bottom of the Hill on the 5th of November with Easter Youth and Shinobu, but we ran into a snag: Steven Heet was bitten on the knee by a fricken centipede! His knee swelled up and he couldn't bend it, so we had to cancel. Necrotizing Fasciitis? Bummer. This is the second time Heet has been bitten by one of these creepy crawlies. He told us about how it felt the first time: Imagine someone bending out the metal part of a bic lighter to make two little prongs. Then they heat up the prongs for a couple of minutes and ram them into your skin. YOW! Anyhow, Heet is moving here in December. We'll be making up our Bottom of the Hill show on December 29th, playing with Judgment Day and Brilliant Red Lights. Once Heet is back behind the drums we'll be a lot more active. We started writing new material when he was here last.
Our latest album "Arriving Alive" hits stores November 7th. This might not mean anything to you if you've already mail-ordered it or picked up a copy at a show, but it's pretty exciting for us. Now we can go into record stores and put our CD in the front of the row or in the "featured artist" area.
Is everyone getting their mail order packages ok? Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have a t-shirt or CD on order that has not arrived yet. We're trying to stay on top of this, but sometimes things slip through the cracks. Email xadamdx@hotmail.com with any concerns.

06.06.06 - UPDATE BEFORE TOUR

A big thank you to everyone that made it out to our warm-up shows this last week. It was great to see you all and we'll be seeing you again really soon. We have some new pictures up from this weekend in the media section of the site. If you missed us, DESA will be swinging back through San Francisco on the RX Bandits tour. You can catch us at Slim's on July 26th. Tickets should be purchased in advance here or here. Get there early, we'll be going on first.

To all our friends in Southern California, please come out early this Friday to catch us at Chain Reaction, opening for Murder By Death. Expect there to be limited tickets available at the door. We suggest you buy tickets in advance here. We play at 7:30pm, but aim to be there at 7pm, you know how that traffic can be.

The official street date for "Arriving Alive" will be October 10th 2006. This album represents two years of work with producer Michael Rosen and whole bunch of blood and sweat. You can get your hands on a copy before that by either picking up a copy at a show or via mailorder directly through this website. You can preview four tracks from the new album and download "Delilah" on our Purevolume.com page.

Can we stay with you on tour? We're looking for places to crash within a reasonable distance from the clubs. Send us a message at band@desadesadesa.com if you can help us out with this. Also, feel free to drop by the merch table at the shows and chat it up with whichever one of us is chillin.
