BS Art Fusion show and Coalesce Vinyl Show in New York: Argle bargle or fooferah?

I'm taking part in the Coalesce group show in New York.

It starts this weekend and I thought I'd post pics of what I sent. The idea was a toy show so I was going to just paint a munny. Then were given the option of contributing a piece of art to go with it so I reordered the request and created the munny to go with the painting. THEN we were given opportunity to paint a new vinyl design so I signed up for that. It was supposed to be a secret and only to be unveiled at the show. We were told to keep quiet but it seems it's leaked everywhere so I can show it to you.

As usual I had fun doing these and wish I could be there but I have too many things I'm working on to let that affect me. Here's everything that went.

So, the BS Art fusion show was so much fun I wet myself. Well it had nothing to do with my incontinence but it's just a good excuse as any to use. There where still the ten minute rounds but this time we painted on cow skulls. I was kind of hoping I could get one to myself but what they do is get five of us to paint on five skulls for ten minutes and then switch. It was so much fun but SO hard. It seems like a long time but ten minutes is goes by so quickly when you're painting. All in all I think we fed off each other's work enough to make each piece unique and I had a great time. Now that my life is getting back to normalcy (if you can call it that) I should be able to attend them every time.

Now before you see this last one, I wanted to say something. The first show I went to, they had this guy that did nothing but paint cartoonish cocks on everything. He found a way to ruin every canvas by adding cocks in everyone's mouths or just in general. I wasn't happy but I was assured that he would be doing this again. This didn't stop me from going but they did assure me that he wouldn't be doing that again if I come to another one. I completely forgot about it but sure enough: another cock made it onto a canvas. I don't know why but I know it wasn't the same guy. For some reason when these guys are out of ideas, all they can think of is cock. The scary part is: is this what this guy's hog looks like? I mean he's only got one frame of reference so I feel bad for the guy.

I'll talk more, later about Day of the Dead art, our Dallas custom vinyl show and how awesome it is that Dr. Sketchy has come to Dallas (Hollah!).

Dig up stupid.

Ok, I was misinformed. Or maybe just expecting something else. The Dallas Sketchgroup wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. I got there and nobody was drawing. They all had their laptops out but I didn't see any sketchpads. It wasn't a complete loss though. On the walls was some art but no prices so I don't think any of it was for sale. These were my favorites.

So while I was drawing at the bar last night, my friend Meghan asked me why I'm currently in an octopus phase. She's been through them all: rocket packs, wings, skulls, Frankenstein's Monster (that one really never stopped). So I thought I would dig a whole and explain it here too, incase any of you were getting tired of it or wondering if I'm just milking it. The simple answer is yes I am milking it. Visually, I just enjoy drawing tentacles (TENTACLES you pervs). They're really fun. But as you've noticed, I stumbled across the hair in the tentacles idea and LOVE doing it. So many artists draw octopus but I haven't seen anybody merging tentacles with hair so I'm enjoying my pioneer idea while I can. I won't do it forever so enjoy it before I move on to something else.

This is for a group show in New York. I'll post more details later.

Group therapy sessions

Bust out your sharpies and crayons because I'm bringing the glue we can sniff while we're working.

There are a few things I wanted to mention that are coming up. First, Saturday, A Bunch of Short Guys are meeting at InMotion Imagery with John Johns of In-Sync, Inc. on Ultimatte from 10am to noon. It's their premiere "in camera" rotoscoping program that looks pretty kick ass for green screen technology. Yes, I just called it kick ass but I'm a geek for this stuff. Sunday I think I might join the Dallas Sketch Group at Half Priced on Northwest hwy. They meet every Sunday so I might have to get my sketch on. I have to finish Diary of the Dead, first, during the day. I tried to watch it last night by myself but chickened out. Plus, I have a few big things I'm working on so it depends on how much I finish/obsess over.

Next Wednesday, I'll be in Denton for the BS Art Fusion show at Rubber Gloves. My old band is playing and if I was informed correctly, there will be cow skull decorating involved in this art show.

Oh and have I mentioned the toy show coming up? No? Then you'll have to wait for that. It will make me the Master of Kickassery.

It's not mine but it's a taste of what's to come.

Tony Bones, Lisa Lindholm. There are no verbs in that sentence.

Wow. Just wow. Saturday was the best night to be in Dallas that you needed to see. Lisa Lindholm has surpassed anything I was expecting and I'm telling you I was already expecting the world. I'll only post a few pics here and the rest on MY BLOG to save space. So go read that to see what I mean but TRUST me you need to go see this for yourself.

More amazing local artists....and buying me drinks

Mark your calendars and clean your eyeballs because there's new art a brewin'.
One of my favorite Dallas artists is at it again with a show i've been DYING to see. She told me about it before she even started to i've been waiting for a long time on this one.
August 9th, Lisa Lindholm will open "Apart of it" with new works at the Cedar gallery. I'll remind you again later so don't worry if you forget now. Just worry if you forget then. I"ve never been dissapointed by her work and each show gives me so many more amazing things to see so I'll be first in line for this one.

If you want to crash a party with me, David Hopkins and other local comic book creators are going to start getting together at Lee Harvey's on the first Thursday of every month to keep our nerdom alive. It's been SO long since I've even touched my comic creation that I don't really feel like I should be allowed to join so i've decided to crash it with a panty raid of monsterous proportions.

I'll let you have shotgun and let's get drunk and get down.

I made a wish

Did you get it? Have you figured it out yet? I turned 36 yesterday and I've been waiting for this for a long time. Ignore the 98 posted. I try to keep this page as vague as possible but sometimes it backfires on me. So anyway, I've been waiting for this for a long time now. 36 or 3-6, 3-6's or 666. That's right bitches! It's time. I've got quite a few things planned so get ready. The beginning has already begun and this will be your only warning. I'm going on a green light from here on out.

Deck sucker

Well as promised, here are the decks I've done. The one with the name Stephanie was for a friend's wife. She really liked the original so I made her something close to it. If you're keeping tabs the one furthest to the right was sold at the last gallery I was a part of and the other two are mine. suck on that.
