And the newly anticipated joy of being totally stuck…

Do you really know what makes you happy?
I thought I did! I just finished laughing, aha-ing and taking notes from a wonderfully entertaining and educational talk at one of my favorite sites "Ted.com". My notes and ahas are below. I recommend you go get your own! This one was HUGE for me!
We have some amazingly brilliant and funny teachers available to us on our desktops at the click of a mouse! I am grateful to have a lifestyle where I can get up in the morning, make my tea and go to school in my jammies! Take 20 yourself and enjoy stand-up comedian, Harvard psychologist, best-selling author and happiness expert Dan Gilbert, and stumble onto some happiness yourself! (I'm off to buy his book!)
Why you should listen to him:
Dan Gilbert believes that, in our ardent, lifelong pursuit of happiness, most of us have the wrong map. In the same way that optical illusions fool our eyes -- and fool everyone's eyes in the same way -- Gilbert argues that our brains systematically misjudge what will make us happy. And these quirks in our cognition make humans very poor predictors of our own bliss.
Here's my notes and ahas:
- "Help people accept the things they cannot change."
I have a larger understanding of why goal-setting works so well!! I am knowing better why I am so great "under pressure". I also now know the essence and significance of the statement, "give your self something to lose." I understand the "fear of loss" concept and why it is so important to my decision making! When I set an intention or a goal and get into the feeling place of the creation of what it is I truly desire - the "why" I want that place - I am creating something of real value to lose. I am realizing the importance of believing I am worthy of receiving what I have just created and knowing it is mine for the manifesting!
"The psychological immune system works best when we are totally stuck or trapped."
"Some things are better than others. We should have preferences that lead us into one future over another. But when those preferences drive us too hard and too fast because we have over-rated the difference between these futures, we are at risk.
When our ambition is bounded, it leads us to work joyfully, when our ambition is unbounded it leads us to lie, to cheat, to steal, to hurt others to sacrifice things of real value.
When our fears are bounded we're prudent, we're cautious, we're thoughtful, when our fears are unbounded and overblown, we're reckless and we're cowardly.
...our longings and our worries are both to some degree overblown because we have the capacity to manufacture the very commodity we are constantly chasing when we choose experience."
"The great source of both the misery and disorders of human life, seems to arise from over-rating the difference between one permanent situation and another. Avarice over-rates the difference between poverty and riches: ambition, that between a private and a public station: vain-glory, that between obscurity and extensive reputation. The person under the influence of any of those extravagant passions, is not only miserable in his actual situation, but is often disposed to disturb the peace of society, in order to arrive at that which he so foolishly admires. The slightest observation, however, might satisfy him, that, in all the ordinary situations of human life, a well-disposed mind may be equally calm, equally cheerful, and equally contented. Some of those situations may, no doubt, deserve to be preferred to others: but none of them can deserve to be pursued with that passionate ardour which drives us to violate the rules either of prudence or of justice; or to corrupt the future tranquility of our minds, either by shame from the remembrance of our own folly, or by remorse from the horror of our own injustice."
I heard his name from across a crowded room on a cold January morning and since that moment, life has never been the same....
He is complex, dark, alluring, seductive, smooth, rich, totally satisfying and fulfilling! Too much of him leaves me intoxicated with bliss, he enhances the quality of my life experience and provides me complete sustenance and frequent, luxurious reprieves from the (sometimes insane) world outside my own. He enhances my personal passion and makes me feel sexy, youthful, full of vitality and strong in my own mental and physical powers. He helps me to stay focused on my path and motivates me to be a better "me" from a place deep inside.
I have totally surrendered to my gnawing desire for him several times a day for almost 2 years now. Whether it's upon waking; one of the many times throughout the day or [ooh-la-la] before I go to sleep, every time we come together my world shudders at a cellular level. After having him inside me all day so frequently, the outside's toxins are swept away and somehow [long loud sigh] reality is a little more peaceful and clear. He is my fountain of youthful being…my body, mind and spirit is left uplifted, refreshed and renewed...
He has helped me consistently remove over 40 years of personal trash, and continues to take out the garbage every time I request it of him, his efforts are unmatched by any other I've been with for any length of time!
Like myself, he was formed from and born to Mother Nature and assures me life will always be full of vitality, abundance and prosperity if I let him and others like him into my life profusely. He reminds me that he is here for me and not going anywhere anytime soon. He was here long before I came and will be here long after I am gone. And while I am here, he is my personal body guard, swift and powerful in the punch he packs when he stands in protection of me from unwanted intruders!
Sometimes I call him "The Dark Knight" and other times I refer to him as "Mr. Bean", he always answers to either one and adapts to every situation he's consumed by, at any time he can be focused and determined or fun and goofy.
He is loved by almost all my family and friends, unconditionally showing up at his best for anyone that will have him, male, female, young or old! And yet, he is often misunderstood by many, he remains a mystery in the ignorance of those who haven't fully explored the depth of his generous and giving nature.
Alas, even in the light of new and undeniable discoveries into his true intentions and nature, association with him is still considered "sinful" by most. Many choose to relate with him "behind closed doors", living in secrecy and fear that they will be judged weak in their self-will or lascivious in their desire for him and everything he represents.
As we continue to dance together in perfect synchronicity my world expands and strengthens in its stability every day. I am never without him now, he goes everywhere with me.
As my Grandmother used to say - with vigor - when in the presence of such an attentive and charming hunk,
"Oooooh I could just eat him up!!"

"Chocolate is a perfect food as wholesome as it is delicious, a beneficent restorer of exhausted power, but its quality must be good, and it must be carefully prepared. It is highly nourishing and easily digested, and it is fitted to repair wasted strength, preserve health, and prolong life. It agrees with dry temperaments and convalescents; with mothers who nurse their children; with those whose occupations oblige them to undergo severe mental strains; with public speakers, and with all those who give to work a portion of the time needed for sleep. It soothes both stomach and brain, and for this reason, as well as for others, it is the best friend of those engaged in literary pursuits." -- Baron von Liebig, German Chemist, Mid Nineteenth Century
"The persons who habitually take chocolate are those who enjoy the most equable and constant health and are least liable to a multitude of illnesses which spoil the enjoyment of life." -- A. Brillat-Savarin, Physiologie de Gout

The Art Of Fulfillment & Decision Based Destiny
Current mood: Appreciative

I've just finished watching a 20 minute video at Ted.com… AGAIN, this time I took notes! Ted has become one of my favorite resources for good stuff and shaping my perspective on the world. Yesterday a dear friend sent me on a link to a clip by Tony Robbins that is absolutely smashing!!
Tony Robbins coaches the best of the best in the world and although I've never been highly exposed to his teachings directly, I have benefited greatly through his followers as have we all.
In this clip the room is full of some of the world's best citizens, major contributors and successful already by anyone's standards. It's really true, learning never stops as long as we're breathin', there's always more to know and contribute to!
Tell me if you know who it is in the front row that cracks Tony and the audience up completely and notice how Tony gives it right back to him!
As I listened I was entertained and expanded. I was reminded once again of the absolute importance of feeling good in as many moments as is consciously possible, and the tremendous significance of growing myself first. I realized that in making my growth a priority that I have created the perfect life to do nothing else but experience life and grow because of it while all my needs are handled. I definitely recognize "The Art Of Fulfillment" in my life as one of my greatest obsessions.
The accumulation of 20 minutes of learning here and there daily adds up over a decade! If I had to attribute my success to one single thing it would be that I simply kept "showing up" in the right places at the right times.
I have no idea what the next evolution of Me looks like and although I have a sense of what my "destiny" is, it is still unfolding. I've learned to "do what it takes" to put myself in the teachable space with others I aspire to be more like. I have access to the best coaches and teachers on the planet! Just by being there with them I am expanded and refreshed in my passion and drive for life.
I am left asking the same questions, "How can I contribute bigger or better? What gives me the most joy right now?" Just re-asking these questions from time to time keeps me in the now and causes movement forward in all aspects of my life.
Here's the bullets that caught my attention:
I'm into "immersion" - how did you learn language?
What drives you TODAY? We are not our past.
With our minds we can do anything.
We can only feel so much alone
Decision is the ultimate power.
The defining factor is never resources, it's resourcefulness.
Emotional Fitness - there are 6000 English words to name emotions, typically we experience less than 12 in an average week and half of those make us feel like shit.
Uncertainty is significant and essential - it's why violence will always be around. We love only the good surprises and call the bad ones problems.
If you get a pet, get a dog.
Fulfillment comes from the needs of the spirit not the needs of the personality.
The reason we grow is so that we have something to give of value.
The greatest need is to contribute beyond ourselves.
The secret of living is giving.
Follow your calling.
Imagine if your beliefs guarantee you can never get to where you want to go?
If you didn't lose someone [something] today, your focus is to serve someone else.
Explore your web, the web in your head, the needs the beliefs the emotions that are controlling you for 2 reasons. So there's more of you to GIVE - for your own fulfillment - and so that you can appreciate what's driving other people.
It's the only way our world is really going to change!

A good friend who always sends me great stuff shared a Google video with me yesterday and I watched it this morning. It's a full 47 minutes long and worth the watch…
I was surprised at my reaction and thoughts as I watched. I responded to it not out of amazement for the abilities of the folks in the movie; what came up for me was from the perspective of being a Mother to a child that exhibits similar ways of being.
On the eve of Mother's Day I am hearing Abraham's wise words inside my head. They are about releasing our children to their own "contrast", to their own life's experience to create what they want of it. It requires a surrendering to that which is often contrary to what we think is "good" or "bad" for our child.
I think if I summed it up in a brief statement, the most difficult thing about being a parent is staying out of the way of the development of my child. I am very careful to allow for our generational and evolutional differences that often manifest themselves as very different ways of being. What I want for him is what every parent wants for their child - "joy" in their being and living. How he goes about finding his way to that is something I am learning "not to mind".
If I had "fear" of anything at all it would be that I affect him with my own perceptions of "limitation". In staying out of his way, I have learned the immense value of staying out of my own way. As a Mother to my own inner child, the rewards and results of continually mastering "that" are showing up all around me.
I appreciate the gift of my child as the greatest teacher in my life so far. He has been the perfect mirror of me to stand in front of. I hold myself accountable for what I do and how I Am in his presence. He continually provides feedback to me on where I've come from, where I'm at and where I'm going.
I am honored that he chose me as a major player on the stage of his life. You can keep your Oscar, and it's my intention that I'm worthy of an academy award performance before the final curtain closes!!
Enjoy this amazing documentary!

The Power Of A Dream Board

Or even the mere thought of it…?
I was tidying up a shelf the other day and came across something that stopped me dead in my tracks and had me cracking up in the moment as I felt the "universal elbow in my ribs" and heard the cascading of a bunch of little events overtime all click together! It was also great motivation for me to get to this blog post I've been wanting to share with you!!
Well the Universe has had fun with me and that since then…
On February 15th I received an email from Melissa Wadsworth - the workshop facilitator. She had found her way to my blog and asked permission to use my dream board as an example in her future workshops.
Receiving her email was in and of itself a manifestation of a previous desire. I immediately recalled that while back at the workshop as I blissfully created my dream board, I found myself wanting an interpretation from Melissa on my board. I didn't really think too much about it after looking around the room and realizing the chance of that happening may be slim. I was in the back corner of a very large room full of 1400 other people much closer to the facilitator. I was distracted by something in the moment and forgot all about it until this time.
In her email to me she said:
"Julie, Your dream board is fantastic! I would love to have your permission to use the visual of it for future presentations. If this is acceptable to you, please share with me a few lines about what your board is showing you.
I appreciate your consideration. Uplifting others is so much about sharing the dynamic energy of people like you. Your board just radiates power and movement."
After reading her email I felt like a true master of manifestation…sitting in that room with 1400 other people I was clearly in exactly the right vibe as I launched my rocket of desire to connect with her!
In our email exchange following, I was able to receive her interpretation of my board. There was particular mention made of the little speaker being held by the hand. To me it represented my life-long desire to have a Bose stereo system, for Melissa it represented something more metaphorical:
The speakers are very interesting. I know that they have a literal meaning for you. Maybe the second meaning is about your voice or the "volume" you project being totally in your hands."
This statement immediately landed as true for me! And, at the same time a little voice in my head said, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." I remember the thought distinctly because it was a thought that didn't seem to fit in the moment…
I was delighted and thoroughly appreciated the expert input that Melissa provided me! I also learned that over time the intuitive and underlying meanings would continue to present to me!
Fast-forward to March 15th…
I'm sitting at my computer and it occurs to me I wanted to check on my VISA points. For every dollar charged to my credit card I get a point that I can use to get all kinds of cool stuff. Albeit a grand experience to get something for free I am made well aware by my point balance that as an aware consumer, I am indeed contributing to the health of our economy in a very big way! I use my credit card for everything I can. (Yes, I pay it off every month!)
As I browsed through the online catalogue of goodies I was delighted to find lots of new things that I wanted, and then it happened, I clicked over to the home audio section and there it was!! It was like the clouds parted and the angels sang…there was a page of all the Bose products and, I had more than enough points to get the one I always wanted!!
The list of things I had previously considered was quickly tossed aside…I immediately hit "add to cart" and proceeded to the checkout, I didn't need to see any more!! I was finally getting my Bose!
What's funny about this is that it isn't about not having the money to buy one. I truly believe that money isn't a variable when we truly desire something. I've always been able to buy it, I just always had lots of other things that took priority when it comes to my money, a $600 stereo seemed a decadent treat. Clearly, it was time to treat myself…
3 days later it arrived! As I received it from the UPS dude I recall thinking how great a job it must be delivering presents to people all the time! I was delighted and surprised he was there so soon, the website said 2 to 3 weeks!
It took all of 10 minutes to have it up and running. It sounds divine - even better than I remembered! It has a sexy little remote no bigger than a credit card - no buttons on the unit - and I can plug everything into it!
It is here, in perfect timing, all is well in the Universe and…damn I'm good!
But wait…there's more…
Remember how this whole post started…?
Fast-forward to last week…
As I'm tidying the shelf I discovered a folder set aside for later. It contained all the leftover pictures I cut out during the dream board exercise back in January, I hadn't room to put them on the board and saved them for a bigger board or my file of pictures and pleasing images…
As I flipped through the folder, I realized I had forgotten all about them, then came the surprise! In the folder was a cutout of the very Bose stereo I had received back in March. It didn't make it to the dream board because it was too big…I immediately recalled I put the small picture on the board as a representation of my desire, a practical move at the time because it fit the space I had available.
I can now say and know, "I believe in the power of a dream board." In the moment I found that picture I realized that making the time and space to focus on what I really want is the work…everything else has come from doing that work!
As I continue to let go of the attachment to stuff and money…I continue to be blessed with the perfect stuff - without regards to money - and I'm experiencing more money than ever before!!
And for some reason I am now making sense of the thought, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."
"Your life is an occasion. Rise to it." - Mr. Magorium
This past Friday my BFF and co-chocolate Goddess, Jeannie called me up to see if I would like to attend a "Sacred Vibrations Wellness Seminar" with her the next day.
"Absolutely!" I replied. "What time are you pickin’ me up?".
I’ve attended dozens of seminars and workshops over the years and realized in that moment that and I had never participated in an "all-ladies" event – at least not since I was a little one gathering with my aunties and cousins for baby or wedding showers!
Saturday morning we arrived at the 150 year old Mountsberg schoolhouse after a beautiful sunny country drive and immediately knew we were at the very place when we opened the door and were greeted by flowing draperies, smiling Goddesses, lovely scents of sage and lavender and soothing, rythmic music.
We pulled up a yoga mat and spent the next several hours surrendering ourselves to the wonderful direction of the sacred space and collective higher vibration.
Linda led us in some Yoga trance dancing. Debra – a fellow Aber - facilitated a group meditation and Reiki session that had some of us seeing vibrant colors behind our eyes and rushes of energy waves rolling through our bodies.
The morning was followed up by a delicious home-made-with-love Ayurvedic luncheon. Before we dined, we filled out a questionnaire to determine our "dominant doshsa" and applied the appropriate colored bindi to our 3rd eye. Then we ate, laughed and shared some of our life’s experiences together.
At the end of it all, in our collective higher vibration, we gathered for the group picture below…
I had heard about orbs appearing in photographs and I had never actually seen one myself. When Debra sent us the photo this morning she mentioned in her email that she saw 3 orbs in the picture…and, I see more!
Jeannie was wondering who the orbs are in the picture, my response was,
"Everyone that has ever been and everyone that will ever be."
I like to believe that the big obvious orb is Abraham…seeing as how it’s nestled in amongst those in the group that know of - and live - Abe’s teachings. There are various orbs floating around above our heads and a couple in the foreground, they are visible to various degrees, some have a very faint orb and the dot of light in the middle is clearly there…
Now that I know what an orb looks like in a picture I’ll have to go back to some of my own shots and see if I’ve just missed them all along!
Linda is our yoga facilitator in the front, she is leaning on Debra, I am directly behind Debra with Jeannie to my left...
Cool eh?! My life so rocks!
The next session they’re bringing in a belly-dancer! I’ve always wanted to learn belly-dancing!

What a perfect day to finally post this story! The ultimate chocolate and diamonds day...I hope this finds you in a place of feeling well loved.
So are you wondering what to invest some of your golden goose in next? As an Ambassador for connection on the leading edge of thought, I would be remiss if I didn't let you know about this [ahem] "gem" of an opportunity...
I've been wanting to blog about this for a year now and until these past few days it just didn't feel "right", like something was missing. I was excited about telling the story and yet I couldn't bring myself to write it - it lacked "substance" or "credibility". It needed a punchline, without it there was no "moral to the story", no real learning. I now have the valuable hindsight available from the broader perspective of 1 year later...
As I look back over the last year I get the giggles, I can clearly see much different results in my reality. I asked for some things fun and new and the Universe delivered with resounding clarity! It pulled some things out of the box I could never have imagined!! Two things stand out, healthy chocolate and colored diamonds!
Exactly 1 year ago today I met on the phone with one of the world's foremost experts on diamonds, Colin Ferguson of Carats.com. Investing in colored diamonds was the topic of the first call I showed up for through the Freedom Investment Club, an organization I joined through T. Harv Eker's work. Investing is not something I feel a strong desire to learn, myself aside, learn something I must if I wanted to grow my money like "the big guns". So I asked the Universe to send something I could do without having to get a degree or accreditation for, I wanted something fun, simple and effective.
After a very fun and informative hour or so with Colin Ferguson - out of Victoria, BC - on the phone I couldn't help but give the order to go for it! I agreed to have him find me the perfect diamond to begin my collection with! He knew how much I had to invest and off he went in search of the perfect match. At the time a small voice in the back of my mind was questioning whether I was doing the "right" thing, and yet it was so "in alignment" with who I am and what I asked for! It "just felt good", everything about it seemed "the right thing to do".
Happy Valentine's Day To Me! My Argyle Diamond This stunner is the first of my collection of investment gems. For my investment portfolio the Universe sent me "stealth wealth", "real estate in my pocket" or "the world's most concentrated form of wealth." I'd say that's pretty good manifesting! Isn't it gorgeous!! I am going to go visit it soon.
My diamond pictured above rests comfortably in a vault at Carat's offices where it is insured by Lloyd's of London and waiting for the perfect buyer at the perfect time! I've committed to hanging onto it for 3 to 5 years. I'm working up to having one custom cut that I'll actually wear, a purple trillian is what I am wanting - it will be called "THE DiamondJul Diamond". I feel such a connection to my gem, like me it has come from being a lump of coal under a lot of pressure over time...my perfect rock is out there waiting to be uncovered, cut and polished to the level of perfection it is, I can almost hear it calling to me!
Since a year ago I have been learning what a great decision I did indeed make! My diamond is one of my "chocolate manifestations". After watching the video at the link below I'm feelin' proud as a peacock and thinking this was the best Valentine's gift ever!
I could hear the sucking sounds as the Universe refilled the vacuum I had created just a couple of months before, I wanted an investment other than real estate or the stock market, I'd say I got it!
Watch the video at the Rare And Precious Gems Investors site!

I have started the process of getting clarity on what I want my next vehicle to be...I am loving the idea of owning an electric car!!
I as I headed out to do my research I found I could have a whole fleet of electric cars if I want!! I had no idea there were so many in production and in use!! The Tesla Roadster makes me wriggle a bit...
And, I found some interesting (CBC Consumers Report) and entertaining (see below) surprises along the way!!
I want a ZENN (Zero Emissions No Noise) car most of all now...the (now respected) rebel in me has emotionally reacted and grabbed a hold of being told,
"You can't have it here..."!!
Oh yeah?!!!
Watch...this video is a riot!! (I really like Rick Mercer!) :)
